That's like saying that Bruce Lee and Arnold Schwarzenegger have the same muscular proportion. Do they both have bodies that are basically made out of rectangles? Yes. Are Prime's forearms twice the size of his head? No. Yeah, Gakken brought that up too, as if it refutes my point, when it really emphasizes it. Star Saber's design is inferior to Prime's, all the way back to the cartoon. MP whatever the heck number we're on may be the best Star Saber toy ever, super articulated and perfectly toon accurate in both modes, with a ton of gimmicks and what not, and it won't be better than MP-10 because Star Saber is not, and will never be, Optimus Prime. Hence the beer/Zima analogy... there are probably people out there who prefer Zima to beer. I could be one. I mean, I personally don't really care for beer, but I've never had a Zima. My personal preferences, however, are not going to make Zima "dethrone" beer any more than your (or Gakken's) preferences are going to make MP-SpaceBrick dethrone MP-10. And? Then what, in your mind, makes MP-SpaceBrick better than MP-10? Both are superbly-engineered, both are toon acurrate in both modes, both appear to be equally articulate, and both appear to have gimmicks in line with the original toys/characters. Is Star Saber supposed to be a better toy because he turns into a very large pointy thing instead of a truck? At this point, the differences between MP-10 and MP-SB come down which character was a better design, and while personal preferences will vary, I think Star Saber has a long way to go before overtaking Prime.- 17161 replies

Could Spacebrick be better than Ultra Magnus? Almost certainly, because Ultra Magnus isn't looking all that hot.Could Spacebrick, who maintains his brickish proportions despite improvements in articulation, who is colored like a cheap toy you'd find at a drug store or a Big Lots and who's a character most people outside of Japan have any connection to, dethrone MP-10, the greatest toy of one of the most iconic characters of a generation let alone the Transformers franchise? You might as well be wondering if Zima will dethrone beer.- 17161 replies

Holy huge! MP Spacebrick should be about as tall as Ultra Magnus. Well, taller, really, since some of Magnus' height comes from his shoulder thingies. And his brick mode? About as long, maybe a little shorter, than the from the front of Magnus' cab to the back of his trailer.- 17161 replies

Well, again, I know that sports games don't get a lot of attention here, but I figured I'd let you guys know. NHL 15 for the PS4 and Xbox One might be missing modes, but at least you can tell it's a new game. I'm hearing that NHL 15 on the PS3 and Xbox 360, though, is basically NHL 14 with updated rosters. Gameplay, menus, presentation, everything is more or less identical, except you're going to see Bergeron on the menu screen and it's going to have a 15 where there was a 14.- 6894 replies

I'd do it, but as a Pens fan it's practically against my religion to do anything in Bruins. Well, that and I have zero aptitude for painting models, and would still be the last person on earth you'd want painting your fence let alone a model kit.

It's hilarious how they call it a Gundoom to avoid the Gundam trademark, but they mention fictional company Anaheim Electronics twice on the box. How's the quality of these Gundooms? Any idea where to get them? I've often thought my collection needed more conaoennal mobile suits...

Never cared about Halo, still don't care about Halo 5. Actually, a lot of games set for this holiday were already delayed, so I can't even say I'm super hyped for anything. If I had to pick something, I guess I'm most looking forward to Civilization: Beyond Earth and Assassin's Creed Unity.- 6894 replies

Who is the target audience for your workshop? I think that makes a big difference. If it's for beginners, while I agree with Hikuro in principle, I think it might be better for everyone to have the same kit if possible. Not a dealbreaker if you can't, just better if you can. Maybe a very popular kit that Bandai keeps making a ton of, like the RX-78 v3/v30th, or a recent kit that might be more readily available. Not sure when the next AnimeBoston is, but I'm sure the G-Self will be everywhere pretty soon. As for buying direct from Bandai, I doubt it. They just don't seem to have much of a US presence anymore. AFAIK, though, most hobby stores and what not in the US get their supply of Gunpla directly or indirectly through Bluefin. You can try getting it touch with them... I mean, if you buy that many, it's basically a wholesale order anyway. They have an email address: customerservice@bluefin.com. Finally, as for the by-the-book vs. free-for-all, I'd again suggest that it depends on the target audience. I've now built a handful of HGs and most of the RGs, and I'm only now getting interested in customizing. I can honestly say that back on my first or second build customizing would have been too intimidating. On the other hand, it's an absolutely great topic of a more advanced workshop. I don't know if I'd go that far. I'm trying really hard to forget that G-Savior was a thing.

OK, you inspired me to finally finish mine. Unfortunately, I have no action base, cool lighting, or awesome spaceship to pose it with, but... Well, that about sums it up. With the modified shoulders, new Core Fighter, new legs, and new skirt armor the GP02fb almost feels like a new kit, even with the same arms and head. Sadly, there's no new accessories, though. No bullpup machine gun, nor the bigger beam rifle (that they admittedly used like once). Same beam rifle and shield as the regular GP01. Then, as treatment said, the top doesn't stay attached as well as the regular GP01. Both the RX-78 and the GP01 are really solid, even with a Core Fighter inside, but the top feels like it's barely hanging on, and and is prone to coming off when you fiddle with the GP01fb. This is possibly due to the fact that the Core fighter is entirely contained in the RX-78, and mostly contained in the GP01. For the GP01fb, though, the backpack and the bell thrusters are part of the Core Fighter, so the top is really just a layer over the top, the vents, and a cockpit hatch. The GP01fb has some big feet. Unlike most of the SEED RG kits, his feet are big enough that the bell thrusters on his backpack aren't enough to tip him over. If you're looking for a great Gunpla but aren't trying to do them all, I highly recommend the GP01 and would suggest it over the GP01fb. That being said, the GP01fb isn't quite as fiddly as Zeta, or as back heavy as the Seed kits. Now I've built them all except the Skygrasper and Char's Z'Gok. For fun, I'd rate them in this order. 1. Gundam Mk-II (AEUG or Titans) 2. Zaku II (the green one) 3. GP01 4. Zaku II (Char's) 5. RX-78 6. Exia 7. Freedom 8. Strike Freedom 9. GP01fb 10. Strike 11. Zeta 12. Justice 13. Destiny

Nope, Voyager-sized. If you look at the third pic in my post about him, from left to right, that's voyager Classics Prime, Mania King, Deluxe Universe Galvatron, and Voyager Age of Extinction Evasion-Mode Prime. MP-10 is in truck mode behind them. So, two vastly different opinions on TF Kingdom's stickers...- 9275 replies

Has anybody tried the faction stickers from TF Kingdom (or TF Kingdom at all?)? I know Reprolabels is good, but I don't want to entirely sticker up Mania King or Hegemon. I really just want a pair of Decepticon faction symbols; one small enough to go on the silver area of Mania King's chest, and one large enough for the flat area on Hegemon's chest. Likewise, Reprolabels faction sheets are $7+$3 for shipping, and I'm not sure how big they are. I'd hate to be out $10 for two stickers and not have one small enough for Mania King. TF Kingdom has this set for $3.19 with free shipping. They describe the smallest as being "about 0.25 inches by 0.25 inches" and the largest as "2 inches by 2 inches." From the picture, though, the smallest looks more like an eighth of an inch, and the largest closer to 3". I think the smallest will fit Mania King, with the plenty of sizes to try to match to Hegemon. Even if none of them fit Mania King, I'm certain one of them would fit Hegemon, and it'd run me a third of the Reprolabels.- 9275 replies

Not sure how interesting the Macross crowd is in sports games, but the demo for NHL 15 is out for the PS4 and Xbox One. I gave the PS4 version a whirl. Mechanically, I don't think it's as different from NHL 14 as I thought it would be, considering EA made it sound like it was a rebuild with a new physics engine. Not only did it not seem particularly different from NHL 14, but I tried the demo in both sim and arcade mode and couldn't tell the difference (although the difference was obvious on NHL 14). If anything, the biggest change in teh actual gameplay is that the AI is a little better in front of the net (offensively and defensively), and hitting seems like it's been toned way down. Graphically, I think they've got room to improve, too. Yeah, the player models look better than the PS3 version (as they should), but you're not going to look at them and think it's anything the PS3 couldn't do. The biggest thing you'll notice is that the players' jerseys don't stick like they're actually part of the players' bodies. On the flip side, they flap and flutter like like flags in a windstorm. I dig the dynamic camera, though (specifically dynamic high)... if that was in NHL 14, I must not have used it. The biggest change (and the best) is the presentation. I liked Bill Clement and Gary Thorne alright, but between the EA presentation and the fact that Clement and Thorne are ESPN personalities calling a hockey game when ESPN hasn't done NHL since something like 2004 I think made it that much more video gamey. The new presentation, with Doc Emrick and Eddie Olczyk feels a lot more like a television broadcast, with more NBC presentation and less EA presentation. Granted, I prefer the my local broadcast on Root Sports over NBC's for televised games, but there's no arguing the fact that NBC handles the nationally broadcast NHL games, and it was a smart move on EA's part to tap into that (luckily, though, there's no sign of Pierre McGuire). The presentation is further enhanced by the improved crowd, who actually look like humans in a 3D arena and not low-res models mimicking humans on a 2D background pasted around the boards. If you have NHL 14 and you don't have a next-gen console, I'd guess it's not worth upgrading, since the PS3/Xbox 360 version is likely to be less "improved". If you're like me, though, counting the days until hockey (41 until the Pen's regular season opener) and want to make the jump from PS3 to PS4, though, you shouldn't be disappointed with NHL 15 (aside from having Patrice Bergeron on the cover, that is ). And yeah, yeah, I know that NHL 15 is missing modes on the PS4/XB1 that were in NHL 14. If you liked those modes (I personally never played them), I can totally see why you'd be mad about it. All I can tell you is that the demo does include a message that EA is promising to work to continually improve NHL 15 with updates that, in there words, may include new game modes. With luck, maybe the mode you liked got cut to meet a launch deadline, and maybe it'll get patched in later.- 6894 replies

There's no lighting effect on Mania King. Between that and the more accurate color scheme, there's really no reason not to get the v2 version (unless you can find v1 for a good price, or prefer the darker purple). When I ordered, though, the v2 version had yet to be announced, and it's not that huge of a difference to me. Either way, I do strongly recommend Mania King. Solid toy, solid construction, looks good in alt mode and fantastic in bot mode, right size for CHUGs.- 9275 replies

I think liking Syd Mead's work and giving him free reign to do what he wanted until they were too far along to change it doesn't obligate Tomino to like it, or admit to not liking it 15 years after the fact. Should Tomino have checked on Syd's work sooner? Sure. Does that mean Tomino is partly at fault if he didn't like the final product? Sure. Does that negate his ability to dislike the design? No, it doesn't.- 3815 replies
