  1. Ok so this is a little late. But here is this years shirt.

Here is the front. This is Humdinger. The SD TH.

The Humdinger is centered on the chest. with the 5thSOG logo on the left sleeve.

    dsc0064td8.jpg

On the back is the "Victory of 2010" logo. Maybe I should have waited and used that for MWCon10 haha. It is on the back below the neck.

    dsc0066dx8.jpg

The shirts will be 20 at the con. I only have XL or L. Whatever i dont sell at the CON will be offered up first come, first serve here on MW. DO NOT PM NOW. WAIT UNTIL I POST IN THE FS SECTION.

  2. Here's the tentative layout of the con with a list of events planned so far.

    MWCon2008Layout.jpg

For those that are interested in attending.. remember to pre-register!!! All pre-registered attendees will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win some awesome Macross Items. ONLY Pre-registered attendees will be eligible for this raffle!!!

Hmm I wonder what is going in that center "special display" section haha.

  3. Roughly 20 years ago... or something like that...

I found in a Big Lots store a Knock off of the SDF-1.

It was only a couple inches long, metallic red.

Composed mostly of die-cast, with detachable yellow plastic guns.

The head was more gundam style. (I think.)

It definitely had Macross style shoulder rail guns, as well as the beam cannons. (all in yellow plastic)

Does ANYONE know what I'm talking about, still have one, or able to tell me who made it and what they called it?

Hmm maybe you are thinking of Converters?

  4. I could always remove the visor... muh hoo hah hah... (evil laugh)

When I decal the rest of the Valk we should do another photo shoot.

lets do it when im in town for mwc08

  5. Damn that pic in Model Graphix get's me everytime. Okay so someone needs to mass produce this! Everyone should own a Thunder Hammer in their collection.

I didn't realize the valk in the 1st page was a custom; eyes are getting old. Looking closer at it... that thing is dope!

Amazing job guys! so where do you live??

or you should cough up the money and jumped on the bandwagon like everyone else.

  6. I would, but I'm all the way in Vegas. :(

Dude, do you know which album this is from?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQllvQuonSI...feature=related

It's a great song with a wonderful melody. Minmay aside, she's actually a great artist. =)

I wouldnt go as far as to say that. Hotel Cafe, from my past experiences, is a rather dismal and slightly pathetic event. the majority of the fans that go are there for the next act. there are a couple DIEHARD fans liek the creepy thin man, this white guy, with somewhat long hair, that I have seen numerous times when I have seen Mari at various events in LA and San Francisco, and yet he is NOT a macross fan.

From my experiences of Mari's past performances (MWCON 5 and 7, Hotel Cafe, SF JAFcon, & Tekkoshocon) she likes to use her time to soap box her grievances and crappy life. Her songs also suffer. You posted a youtube video of a song from WAY back. yes her earlier work is pretty good. but her more current work is lacking. She utilizes the yamaha S800 keyboard like a security blanket. but it too hurts her performance. she needs a much richer and real accompaniment than just a beatbox out of a $800 keyboard.

Also, according to Mari, she is done with macross. This mentality fluctuates. she of course is typecasted and resents this greatly, again returning to the soap box grievances. So dont go expecting to hear your favorite macross songs. understandably she is an artist and is desperately trying to get her own pure sound out. while commendable, her own "sound" needs work.

The subject or topics she discusses in her songs are somewhat crude and word usage in her lyrics can be awkward to the point of being awful. songs about laptops on rainy days and "all you want, is to f*ck me" are just terrible and should not have been used. english word choice and grammar are of course her second language and yet even though she has lived in the USA for more than 20 years now, she still has not mastered the language to create lyrics that dont seem awkward and improperly constructed.

I dont want to paint a negative picture of Mari, she is a nice person and I have enjoyed hearing her intriguing tales of working on Macross, because I am a Macross Otaku; to a certain degree. But as I said above, take her performances with a grain of salt. It most likely will not be what you think it will be.

  7. thanks for the advice solscud, yah i do need more light, i only got 2 side lamps that night.

  8. Can someone post a pic of the original Thunder Hammer. I need to see a side-by-side analysis! Based on what I can recall... you guys freakin nailed it! Someone needs to do a custom VF for this armor!

    Thanks,

    Gene

we did do a custom VF. did you not see the first page?

also to see the original pics go to MW main page. it is in the magazine section.

Here is the link. It was in Model Graphix Oct 2002

  9. Vegas Valk,

nice factory variant!!! a little advice on the lighting. I think you need more light on the valk. the background is nice and bright but it contrasts so much with the valk that some detail seems lost. Also you can use the file loope trick I did to show the M. Falleina decal.

  10. hi!

I´m travelling to LA for 3-4 days next week. It´s the first time and I would love to get some mementos - in other words I´m looking for a store that has decent prices for Yamato Valks, Votoms as well as Soul of Chogokin, Getters, Gundams and so on... but I´m lost as all my searching gave me only anime dvd stores

    ANy help is appreciated !

    thank you!

    First post !! Yeah ! :)

hook up with the Socal MW crew. Exo, Bobe-pat, Kirith, Bigkid. if you can make it and have a car then you should go to the following places in order of priority.

#1: Frank & Sons. Open Wed and Sat. best to go on Sat more vendors. trust me it is the best place to go. but kinda far. like 30 miles from LA.

#2: Little Tokyo has the following:

    A: Jungle Anime

    B: Kinokuniya

    #3: Anime King

those are the better places I can think of. but really Frank & Sons is the only place you really need to go. PM those guys and they can help you out.

  11. Didn't you actually break it?

sort of. the missle door fell off its peg. see this is the suff behind the scenes you guys on MW dont get to see. not only do we play with our rare and beautiful toys, but we are clumsy with them haha.

  12. oooh, just found these... some shots with the missile panels closed.

I remember this. funny story, after we both lost out of our local Socal poker game, I decided to take pics of the TH. This was pure kitchen table lighting and a poster sized piece of black paper. I accidentally dropped one of the shoulder armors while handling it. opps.

  13. wow I remember those. we were waiting on the Thunderhammer to be finalized and put together. the armor with the valk. so in the meantime, as a preamble and for practice, I shot some of Hirohawa's customs. no we didnt transform any of them.

Hirohawa beat yamato to the punch when it came to weathering the Roy 1S. Check out the visor detail.

I like mine more hehe j/k. Hirohawa did a great job on the visor.

  14. Sure there are CAD drawings from Yamato, we all drool and speculate over them every time we hear word of a new release. Yamato just put the CAD to their 1/60 VF-1s (version 1 I believe) on the special sleeve to the 1/48 VF-1S Weathering.

hmm I guess I will have to trace my weathering special then.

  15. That's DRAFTSMAN......I do know about them for the drafting world...but I have never seen one for a camera. It's cool. I think I may swing by the camera shop to see if I can get one of those.

No you misunderstood. the one I used looks like the one in the pic above. it is JUST a plain slide loope. it is NOT a camera attachment. I was just clever enough to make it work as a macro lens.

  16. magnifying glass. ^_^

sort of. it looks like this.

    000518_0.jpg

Nice pics! Awesome macro making! I can say yes I like the look of the valk. I can also say...the price is to high for that quality of a valk.

Really? I paid $220 for hand delivery from japan, now I realize that I am a lucky SOB and that opportunity is not available for everyone however I dont think that was too much.

  17. Can someone scan the blue sleeve at 600 DPI for the rest of us? I want to mock up my own custom weathered VF-1 squardron set. ;)

At the original price, it was a deal!

At the ebay prices, better to buy one from Kurt, Jung or other customizers instead for the level of quality with custom decals.

ok but you gotta print one up for me. I can recreate it in photoshop.
