  1. Absolutely beautiful! But damn, those skulls on the tailfins are crooked! I'm still lusting for one! Is the clear stand included with the weathered Roy?

    OO

no the clear stand is not. that is just a bandai action base in clear plastic.

  2. So, they are just stickers and not tampo printed markings?! Lame. For what they want for this, you would think they would tampo print everything.

well they are water slides. really well done water slides. if I can borrow my buddy's D-SLR I can use his macro lens and see if I can show you how good it really is.

  3. I am curious about the smugging as well. Did you sticker it up before you took pictures, or is that how it is out box?

that is how it looks out of the box. Ok so I had my gf briefly read the chinese characters. it seems the "weathering" is hand painted. and the decals are had applied from yamato.

i was looking on mine too but i think the white missiles were not weathered atleast mine looked it wasnt

hmm mine are not white though as usual white missles. they are a sort of off white color. The only other valk I have to reference is my Hikaru VF-1S, which i dont have here with me, but i remember them being white vs the weathering version is off white.

  4. Here is my Fokker Weathering Special. Just came in. hand delivered from japan, thanks to my friend's girlfriend.

When you remove the blue cummerbund and lift the box flap, you will see this piece of paper that details that this is a special edition and says that the decals are different. I have yet to actually translate this.

  5. Yeah I met a guy at Botcon who is from Japan. Said he got 6 of these at Wonderfest. Sold them for about 515 USD each.

Well good news I have confirmation that my weathered VF-1S has arrived at my friend's house. So all I have to do is wait for her to come back from japan.

I will take some detailed pics when it arrives.

  6. Finally got a 1/48 to put it on. (not that I dont have any 1/48 but they are all in LA while im in Pitt) Waiting for my Weathered VF-1S to put this guy on.

  7. Thanks for the link! That is awesome. I just emailed them to ask about the custom box and where they got it printed. Maybe with some luck I can finally produce Kicker773's custom Yamato 1/48 VF-1D box afterall!

You should probably ask the current owner, xstoys. IIRC even he doesnt know.

  8. NMB4M beat me to it. but as I dont have a 1/48 with me in pittsburgh I cant display it. so i will tease you guys with a picture of my TH goodness.

  9. Just got an email from Yamato that the Weathering Special will be shipped out starting on April 28th.

Everybody I know that ordered one has received the same email today.

yep my friend contacted me as well to let me know about that email.

  10. Well so far so good for me. My friend called me a little while ago to let me know his gf got the confirmation email. It said that they will send a second email out when it is ready to ship. Then they will ask for payment info (credit card info etc) So it looks like i may have gotten my first 1/48 Fokker as a weathered one. lets keep thinking good thoughts shall we?

  11. Cross your fingers. With the help of my japanese airsoft friend, I was able to use his gf's home address and info. She goes back to japan for her sister's wedding, in May. So here's hopping everything went smoothly.

Due to the fact that the Yamato online shopping server was bombarded It took 1.5 hours for me to get thru. So I sent my friend and his gf home early and continued to try to get thru. finally I got thru and utilizing my kindergarten japanese proficiency and conversing with my friend over the phone I was able to enter in all of his gf's info. the weird part was that I clicked on the selection for credit card ppayment but it never asked for a credit card number. According to my friend, Yamato will confirm the order on their end and if they have the product available, they will send an email asking for payment/credit card info. weird.

But here's hoping I did everything correctly while ordering.

  12. Ok since I cant reply or modify the pinned and locked topic I will add my two cents here.

Below will be the exact posting from Mechamaniac via Graham. I will add my info to help those in the future.

    Hong Kong Toy Shops

    1. Sino Centre which is at 582-592 Nathan Road in Mong Kok district. This centre is a great place for Japanese toys, magazines, CD's and bootleg anime DVDs. There are two small shops selling Japanese toys on the ground floor and a couple more in the basement level including a branch of Animate and aslo a couple of small garage kit shops. The 1st to 4th floors mostly sell VCDs/DVDs. To get to Sino Centre, take the MTR (subway) to Mong Kok station and take exit 'E' which puts you about two minutes walk away along Nathan Road.

There is a BIG sign that sticks out from the side of the building. Cant miss it. Also Google maps has it in their database but a word of caution when relying on Google maps. they arent exactly accurate.

2 Just around the corner from Sino Centre is another must-visit mall called CTMA centre. this is situated near the end of Sai Yeung Choi Street South. make sure to visit all the upper floors as well as the basement as there are about six or more shops selling Japanese toys including Superman Toys and Ant Shop. Note, many of the shops especially the ones in the basement do not open until early evening.

    Like 4pm

3 There is also another branch of Animate (selling toys/ books/magazines/some garage kits) on Nelson street in Mong Kok. Sorry, I can't remember the shop number, but Nelson street is not that long anyway (nearest MTR exit: D).

    4. Also, make sure to check up the basement and 1st to 3rd floors of the 111 Richmond Center in Argyle Street also in Mong Kong (next to a McDonalds). Lots of cool toys and hobby shops there with a great selection of toys, gashapon and resin kits to be found, but most shops don't open until around 4pm or 6pm.

    5. Your next stop should be the Cauesway Bay district of HK Island. Take the MTR (subway) to Causeway Bay station to get there (take the MTR Victoria Park exit). First stop should be the Causeway Bay Centre located on Sugar Street. Again make sure to check out all the floors especially the basement as there are lots of cool toy and model shops to be found. Like most hobby shops, they don't open til late afternoon though. Also on Sugar Street, there is a place called Toy Mart, which is like a huge warehouse selling old toys. It's on the 16th Floor of an office building, but they have a sign on the street in front of the building and Sugar street is a short street, so it's not difficult to find. Great for older Japanese & US toys and models.

Ok this information is close but NO CIGAR haha. At least it got me in the proximity. Ok Sugar street is REALLY REALLY short so you cant miss it. Toy Mart is actually called Toy Zone it is also known as Toyeast.com. What you are looking for on the street is the Causewaybay Commercial Building. There were NO signs when i went. But it is on the 16th floor. check the elevators cause not all of them go to the 16th floor. you might have to get off at 15 or 17 and walk to the 16th. There are two shops on this floor. one is consignment and the other is the store. There are thousands of vintage toys in here. Note of advice: Bring a good bright pocket flashlight. A lot of the display cases are dark and you need a flashlight to peer behind other toys. Here is a picture of the front of the building from ground level.

    dsc00385pd5.jpg

Down the street is the Causewaybay Computer Center There are two stores there. A small division of Animate is here. There is another small shop called Good Toy Shop lots of Brave and Transformer toys. Here is a picture of the store front.

    dsc00387px7.jpg

6.Next up should be the Oriental 188 Centre on Wanchai Road in Wanchai distict also on HK Island. Lots of great toy and hobby shops.

actually I found this place to be mostly video games with only a few toys shops. Prices arent that great. best to check it out and then Mong Kok area before buyinh anything here.

Here is a pic of the front.

    dsc00389qm8.jpg

just down the street there is another small shopping area called CC WU Building. There is a great shop for vintage stuff. Owner's name is James. Very nice guy.

    pic

    dsc00390aa4.jpg

Going by the picture above, facing the building turn to your right and walk down the street, if you walk further down the street there is UN Company (an airsoft store on the left) and a little bit down and on the opposite side of the street is Waile Models a model shop with airsoft and models. Also If you exit the Wan Chai MTR A3 exit there is a street/alley almost infront of the exit/entrance and it has a LOT of small toy shops with loads of toys at decent prices. mostly some TF, power rangers, Kamen Rider stuff. but worth a look if you are in the area.

The best thing to do is pm Graham, Blackaces, Neova and other members of MW who live in HK and see if they are free when you are visiting HK and have them take you around.

  13. Well guys im glad you enjoyed my pictures. Unfortunately shooting it is the closest I will be to owning one. We were all at Hirohawa's house as he just finished the valk. The grey really makes the armor pop. It is a shame you guys could not see what was in the viewfinder. The pictures hardly express the awesomeness we saw thru the viewfinder, let alone getting a chance to not only see but to handle the Thunder Hammer in person.

In regards to the "Thunder Hummer" this is artistic license. As we all well know, the japanese do have some issues with proof reading their translations. I believe the GBP has always had the knick-name Thunder Hammer. also if you look at the decals it is a lightning bolt and a HAMMER not a hummer. so it only stand to reason that it is supposed to be Hammer.

The hands are recasts of EternalD's hands. He made these before the 1/48 GBP came out with their hands.

Here is a pic of it with the hatches closed. Yes the kneecap was not postioned in place properly. oh well deal with it. I got to play with the thunderhammer so nah nah haha.

    img1054rz8.jpg

  14. heck if that 1/1 ill ware it

shouldn't the visor be inside the helmet though?

it is 1:1. That is my autocross helmet. well it was my friends old kart helmet. so i decided to paint it. The shoulder pads are the Yamato Shoulder pads. XStoys let me put my helmet on it.

Thanks. but actually I was wondering more about the diorama background than the stand.

Turns out that the diorama background is an Ashita M.O.D. model kit base and is available at mecha skunk http://mechaskunk.com/store-stand.htm (Yes, I know it comes up with the bandai action base... just scroll down...) as a non painted kit for a good deal if you ask me.

There is a prepainted verion somewhere but I have yet to find someone in US that has that one. Action HQ has some but the shipping is astronomical.

Yeah that is what it is. I actually got the prepainted one from Fulcy. I remember it being expensive. but im lazy and I like the pre-painted one. so he sold me one of his.
