I believe that Karakorum Creations is Gundamhead (or his brother, maybe?) on these forums. I have their 1/15 Mospeada weapons kit. The weapons look spot-on with my sources, but the casting quality isn't the best. That being said, since SMT is casting the monster, it should come out as a pretty nice model. I've heard nothing but good things about SMT. Felix [edit: can't spell so well]

Nice, but I'd take a P-51B (or C) over a D any day of the week. There's just something cool about razorback Mustangs... Felix

Ahhh, our resident airsoft master arrives... Do you know anyone that has that Solscud? Is it worth the cash? Does the kit I posted have the remington parts as well for the grenade launcher? Unfortunately, the airsoft kit doesn't have a working Remington shotgun/grenade launcher section. The pump action works, but when you pull the grip back, it opens the shell-ejection port to display a shotgun shell! Someone didn't do their research there... It's the G&P conversion kit for the Marui M1A1 Thompson. It's not quite as accurate as the MiM kit, but it does have more metal parts, and is probably a bit sturdier if you want to lug it out into the field. I got mine from UNcompany.com They have the assembled version for $598 (in their "custom AEG" section). If you buy the parts separately, which is what I did, it's $245 for the Thompson, and $320 for the conversion kit. (Add $100 for shipping from Hong Kong to the US) Felix

Here's an alternative... Costs 1/5 the price of the working Monsters in Motion version. More metal content, too. Some assembly required... Felix

Nice! For that price, sign me up for two! Felix

Opinion: best starfighter designs ever
flyboy replied to renegadeleader1's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
My vote: Harpy fighter from Crusher Joe. Also Kawamori-designed... Felix -
You have a point there, but... I think you have it the wrong way around. VO has been around for years. Gundam Seed hasn't (though with the derivative, unoriginal mecha designs in the series, you'd think that it has). Any resemblance between the designs and color schemes of the Temjin and the Gundam Seed mecha is purely the fault of Sunrise/Bandai.

Hi Rob, Add me to the booster preorder list. One more model to add to my back-log... Felix

Yeah, I thought that was my 1/55 custom in you avatar. Christopher mentioned that he had to let go of it, but I didn't ask him who he sold it to. I wish I had more time to do these things nowadays. I think that Blue Roses that I originally did for Christopher B was the last "model" I completed - and that was almost a year ago. I lurk on the boards every so often, but work and other commitments have kept me away from here, lately. I hate it when life gets in the way of my hobbies. Glad you were inpired by my custom, though! Cheers! Felix

Heh heh, Looks familiar! Great job on the valk Jung! I couldn't have done it better! Felix

I seriously doubt that piece was intedned to be used as a wargame miniature. The detail is far too fine and well defined (edges too crisp, etc.). I bet that's some sort of extremely-limited-release collectible pewter miniature from Japan. Felix

You guys might want to check this link out: planet armor This shows how to simulate battle damage on a lightly-armored WW2 amphibious personnel carrier. If you're looking for a more "in-scale" effect, this is the way that most armor and aircraft modelers do it. HTH, Felix

That red guy on the right is named "Fitor," I think. I used to have one too, way back in the day...

How many years have you been posting here?
flyboy replied to Skull 0ne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Since the beginning... (despite my low post count) Early 2000, when Macross World was just the model section and a rudimentary message board where people bought and sold stuff (at your own risk, I might add). Felix -
Yep, that's right.

Got the grenades and box from a seller on eBay. He machines them himself. They're made from 6061 aluminum with a brass "primer". Nice workmanship Here's his website: http://www.m41a.com/ Drop me a PM if you want his contact info. Felix

Another airsoft collector here. Seeing some of Solscud's collection when he posted it on this forum a couple of years ago got me psyched up about it. He's probably that "hardcore SoCal collector" that you mentioned. I have an unhealthy fascination with weapons, but I'm not all that thrilled about having a "real steel" assault rifle (or pistol, even) in the house. Something about excessive lethality. I'd personally rather have a $1000 airsoft AK-47 than a real $300 AK-47. (not that I even like AK's) Airsoft lets me collect interesting replicas of weapons. And in the event that I ever want to make a fool of myself, It's easy enough to find a local game out in the "bush" and use said replicas to legally shoot at other fools. I only ocassionally use the guns out into the backyard to plink targets taped over the open end of a trashcan... For most of the airsoft guns available nowadays, you can buy metal body kits to increase their realism. My full-metal SR-15 RAS must weight in pretty close to the real deal. That's one gun that I'd hate to lug around the field all day. Guess I'd never be able to cut it in the army. BTW, anyone know how viable these are as a non-lethal home defense weapon? I've heard of pretty gruesome injuries from close-range contact with airsoft weapons. I'd imagine that it'd be pretty painful to be hit with a couple hundred BB's travelling at 275+ fps in the space of a minute. My modest collection: Sig552 SEALs Glock 23 M41A pulse rifle (Aliens) / M1A1 Thompson Knight's SR-15 RAS Felix

Wow, nice FD! Funny, this is the last place I'd expect to see a fellow SoCal Impreza & FD3 owner! Honk if you see me: JDM WRX STi wannabe '95 RX-7 Felix

Looks like large portions are from S.F.3D. (Maschinen Krieger) kits. The front is from an HAFS Gladiator: http://home.att.net/~bklk/models/bk14_2.html Part of the top looks like it's from a Hornisse: http://home.att.net/~mak3000/models/pk41.html The light bar on the front of it looks like it comes from the Gundam 08th MS Ball kit. The gun is probably something off a Zoids toy line. Not sure where the rest comes from. Migth be scratchbuilt. (yeah, I spend way too much time looking at models) Felix

Actuall, it wasn't TRU. It was the FAO Schwartz inside Ceasar's Palace in Las Vegas. =P Felix
-
Back to the original subject. So has anyone picked up one of the APU's yet? First impressions? I saw the sentinel at TRU this weekend, and I was impressed. All the "arms/tentacles" are fully articulated. And the weight of the toy and packaging was far more than I would expect - considering that the toy is only $25. Felix

I have the PC version of the game, so YMMV. Fantastic game! Great graphics, especially at higher resolutions like 1280X1024. Very smooth control interface and gameplay. Smooth, seamless transistions between large outdoor environments and indoor areas. No pauses for loading textures during a level. The whole "Red Dawn" storyline hasn't been incorporated into a game before, and the developers did a fantastic job with it. A little more character development and more unique npc characters would have been nice, though. The weather in the missions changes as the game progresses from summer through winter, which is a nice touch. My only real complaint is the weird collision modeling for hits. When you shoot an enemy, they'll jerk backward from the impact, but during thar time, any other bullets that hit them have no effect. Overall, highly recommended. All the online reviews that I've read for this game have given it very high marks. Not sure how easy it is to play without a gamepad, but I hear that there's an auto-aim feature for the console versions. Felix

Wow, This forum sure is dead... Here's a bit of news to spice things up. Hobby Link Japan has the box art for Hasegawa's new 1/72 VF-0S: http://www.hlj.com/cgi-perl/hljpage.cgi?HSG15 Or is this just some old production shot that I haven't seen yet? Enjoy, Felix

Cool! Mave Yukikaze. Though it'd be interesting to see how a plane with no vertical stabilizers could possibly fly. No yaw control... Felix
