  1. How much does one of those run?

Was around $50 when first released back in 2008 - hard to find one now, even on eBay. Probably runs around $100+ now, might find better deals on Mandarake though. Definitely the best Minmay figure released IMO, just don't like the fact she's kinda small (rated at 1/8 scale, but I think that's being a bit generous).

  2. +1... it's crazy thinking that the complaints and whining on this board about not getting a preorder in, shipping issues, and the like are coming from working adults. But at the same time, I think that's pretty much par for the course on every toy related forum I've seen... lol

We're all young still at heart? lol

  3. Man, that sucks. It's stuff like this that has forced me to go with HLJ for any future Macross toy purchases. So many things can go wrong and only HLJ will support their customers (as far as I know. Feel free to correct me with additional vendors that will support their customers to the level that HLJ does, like sending you replacement parts and not forcing you to mail back the whole toy at your expense. The more choices we have, the better). AmiAmi has super prices, but you're screwed if you have anything wrong with the toy, even right out of the box.

The problem is sourcing replacement products or parts, a lot of the places couldn't even fill all the pre-orders. These aren't Yamato Valks we're talking about (darn you Bandai, darn you)! :p

  4. By last night they were sold out. I managed to get one in at Hobby Search and now theyre sold out as well.

HLJ probably still has them, if their site is working properly. LOL Same thing happened with the previous Bandai Ranka and Sheryl "valkyrie" editions. Pre-orders sold out fast, but come release day, they have an abundent in stock. Hell, they're already showing up in the bargin bin and HLJ sale recently. LOL

Still, I had pre-ordered the new Sheryl from AmiAmi, <3 Sheryl!

  5. I wish HLJ's price was closer to AmiAmi and Hobby Search, but I guess that's the price to pay for peace of mind if something goes wrong with these releases. Has anyone ever had experience with AmiAmi or Hobby Search's customer service? Are they as good as HLJ when it comes to replacement parts or item exchange?

HS and AA are great, never had to replace anything though, but canceling quantities or existing orders aren't as easy as HLJ. You shouldn't have any problems with their service, I've been ordering all my recent valks from their due to the better pricing - every little bit helps!

  6. Yamato's figures look larger then Bandai's. Thank you in advance for the information.

Simple, that's because Macross SDF/DYRL characters are taller in 1/1 scale than those in Frontier. Have you seen the size of the 1/1 replica of the DYRL helmet? B))

All joke aside, it depends on the scale of the source, for example:

VF-1A Fighter Mode: wingspan 14.78 (fully extended); height 3.84 meters; length 14.23 meters

VF-25F Fighter Mode: wingspan 15.5 (fully extended); height 4.03 meters; length 18.72 meters.

So in 1/60 scale, they'd be different in size. But even so, manufacturer scaling on toys and figures are an enigma and doesn't always make sense. Just enjoy the toys as they are!

  7. Dunno about you US guys, but we usually get raped by custom fees and brokerage fees coming in to Canada. Hell, just now UPS dropped off my Shapeways shoulder hinges with a brokerage fee of $14.35 on items valued at $25. F-U UPS.

Very rarely do I ever get charged by EMS / Canada Post.
