  1. Was on the fence about getting another VE-1 (have the first version), but after seeing the pics here, it just pushed me over the edge.

Damn I hate this place!! <_<

Just received my v2 VE-1, wow what a difference from the v1! It's also much lighter (in colour and weight), which isn't a bad thing. Might pick up more v2's later on, even if it'll duplicate my collection.

  2. I asume you went full frame if you needed to replace the 10-22mm?

How was the 10-22mm? Is it as great as the online reviews say it is?

Yeah, went from the 30D to 5D MKII - might've stuck with the 1.6x crop if they had announced the 7D earlier! <_< But hey, it's full frame now and I can't complain!

Loved the 10-22mm, it's true about what people/reviews say, that it's an L lens in an EF-S body. If you have a 1.6x crop body and need an ultra wide angle lens, the 10-22mm is definitely the one to get.

  3. I just sh*t myself with excitement. I need to start saving up for this one... maybe Christmas next year.

(actually, I wonder what the chances are of getting a non-IS 24-70 for cheap will be once this thing comes out)

Oh man, if that 24-70 f/2.8L IS comes out, I'm so over it!

The EF 16-35 is great but it doesn't match with the 24-70 very well which I plan on getting eventually.

Personally I prefer to have a bit of an overlap between my lenses. I'm currently using the 16-35 with the 24-105. Needed a wide angle to replace the EFS 10-22mm. 14-24 sounds pretty slick though.

  4. BTW: Canon rumors says there might be a EF mount 14-24 mm f2.8 L lens coming next year. That's the best news this years IMO.

I've been pondering what wide angle lens to get next. The EF-S 10-22 mm lens is great but it won't fit a full frame body I might get in a few years. The EF 17-40 mm f4 is great but it's not really wide enough for my needs on a crop sensor camera.

a 14-24 would be perfect cause it'll be wide enough on a crop sensor camera and it work great with the 24-70 mm I plan on getting too. God, what a perfect line up 14-24 mm, 24-70 mm and the 70-200 mm I already own all with f2.8! Can't wait!!

Well, there is the EF 16-35 f/2.8L, great lens too.

I wish Canon would come out with a 24-70 f/2.8L or 24-105 f/2.8L with IS.

  5. Stuff in my display cases atm (exludes the myriad of things outside and in storage).

LOL, my wife was just poking fun at me about how stupid my glass display was and the stuff I put in there.

Now I have proof I'm not the only one (someone out there have the same glass display as me and the kind of things being displayed)! LOL

  6. Should definitely try to think ahead a little when buying bags, majority of the time I see people buying a certain bag only to buy a new (larger) one rather quickly as the lens collection grows. lol Happened to me a couple times, I wonder why I ever got such a small case/bag that doesn't utilize space very well. -_-

  7. Don't forget to check for stuck pixels and dead pixels.

    Dead Pixels:

Manually focus and take a picture of a white wall/paper, try a 2-3 second exposure. Check the image to see if there are any dead (black) pixels.

    Stuck Pixels:

Keep the lens cap on, manual focus, try a 5 second exposure at various ISOs. You'll probably see some hot pixels, having some at higher ISOs is pretty much the norm. Take note of the location of the hot pixels, if they're still showing up when taking a normal picture, it may be stuck.

  8. Just received my two YF-19 Prototypes 3 & 4. These definitely look very nice and the pics we've seen online thus far don't do it justice. Hell maybe I'm biased since I'm a huge YF-19 fan. Will post some pics.

    Also got the VF22s. :D

Next up, VF-11B - but might wait to see if they do a repaint of it.

  9. Bought a Macross: DYRL Perfect Edition (fx) DVD, Region ALL and had subtitles a couple years ago. Might've been a bootleg, but it was a pretty good quality, came with a nice case and printed disc. Lent it to a friend, and never saw it again.

Now I'm trying to find another one like it, but for the life of me, I just can't seem to find anymore of these. Only thing close I see is DVD copies on eBay, where some guy just burns a copy onto a DVD. Blah!

Anyone here know where I can find another one of these DYRL movie DVDs?

  10. /sigh Damn it, I'm running out of excuses to tell my wife why my collection keeps growing! Haven't got the VF-11B yet, hoping they'll come out with a weathered version or a repaint. Thought the white/yellow GN-DOU VF-11 from VFX2 looked pretty good. I know all these variants are the same mold, just different colours, but damn I just wanna collect them all!!

    LOL
