  1. Guld Works? Macross Galaxy called their VF company Guld Works?

    Guld Goa Bowman: ガルド・ゴア・ボーマン

    The vol. 6 liner notes say: マクロス・ギャラクシー可変戦闘機開発工廠(ガルド・ワークス)

    I don't think there is anything more behind Guld Works than just an otaku reference to skunkworks and Mac+

    Yeh. I won't think too much about it except it's just word play which Frontier seems to be littered with.

  2. I'm looking forward to trying it out. I've been using Beta 1 on my netbook since it officially came out (that is, since it was available through Microsoft and not bittorrent). The changes from Vista weren't the leaps that they were going from XP to Vista, but that seemed to mean less compatibility issues and better performance. And what changes there were seemed mostly welcome.

    Of course, I beta tested Windows Vista, too, and while Beta 1 and 2 seemed okay, I thought Vista actually took a turn for the worse when it moved into RC status. I'm not really anticipating the kinds of problems we had with Vista, though, again mostly because 7 seems more about performance and compatibility than new features, whereas Vista seemed more about modernizing an OS that was definitely getting a little long in the tooth.

    RC1 is definitely going on my netbook, and probably the first retail version, too. I've been using Vista as my main desktop OS since shortly before SP1, and Leopard on my MacBook since the day it came out. By now, XP seems positively archaic, and I really didn't feel like going back to it. So far, I've been able to run Windows 7 on the netbook, even with Aero, so it seems like a good fit for a computer that might not be able to handle Vista too well. I'm going to stick with Vista on my desktop for awhile, though. Any OS can handle the net browsing and what not I do every day, but if that was all I did I might as well use Ubuntu. I game on my desktop, and while Windows 7 is supposedly pretty solid on that so far, Vista seems a little more certain.

    I'm pretty happy with Win7 on my VM as well. There are some user interface issues with it which I'm not happy about since pushing this on older users who are use to a more classic interface may find it difficult to work through. I'm much more happy with the memory usage but I would like to see if they can shave it down a little more with the RC.

  3. Worst...Alto...ever! I wonder why jap porn always has the most disgusting vile and fat male actors ever.

    Sometimes I feel like puking when I see the pestilence ridden skin and fat lumps they sport.

    I just find it interesting that in a normally male-targeted AV, you're looking at the guy and not the girls. :blink::lol: I'm just sayin.....

  4. I wonder what would happen if the movie against all odd becomes a succes. Will HG retain any merchandising rights in the WB deal?

    I'm sure that will be a "yes".

    Alternatively would the WB designs be used for futher HG RT projects? That would open up the chance for Macross to be finally left alone (one can hope).

    Like Transformers: Animated did, I'm sure they'll use those since it will be ingrained in everybody's heads or try to redesign things for a simpler format.

  5. If Lawrence Kasdan did bail I doubt it has anything to do with HG, WB, or Robotech. I think it's more likely that he submitted a draft, collected a paycheck, and WB just didn't think the draft was guaranteed money so they continue their quest for more money.

    Also bear in mind this is a fairly common practice. Joss Whedon was tapped to write a script for WB on Wonder Woman. He sent it, the studio paid him, and have ended up not using it. Lawrence Kasdan draft may be a basic outline of what was done. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar were brought on to rewrite. They may submit it, and the studio may decide to not go forward with it. If the 2 are done, it's up to the studio to decide to move forward with it or not.

  6. Considering WB and Fox worked out a settlement to get Watchmen in theaters, yes, that's all it would take.

    I take it that you also mean a new script for the "Macross Saga" as well, but they would have to be really careful otherwise they would *still* face the prospect of legal action against them.

    DYRL? compacted a good chunk of SDFM into 2 hours. I don't think it would be that hard to do the same with RT's "Macross Saga". Just take the main highlights and toss the rest. And we are talking about Robotech here, not Macross. If you guys are thinking about a literal translation, word for word, cel for cel, then that probably wouldn't work for a movie format. A serialized TV show can drag things out. A movie has to compress it down to just the essentials.

    Transformers did it and pulled it off. Star Trek is doing it and it looks like that's going to pull it off as well. Rebooting/reimaging/etc. can be done and legal headaches can be minimized.

  7. Mechanic Sheet

    * VF-2SS Valkyrie II

    * FZ-109 Elgezorun

    * VF-25S Messiah

    Any issue with a VF-1 article is always good.

    Character Sheet

    * Edgar LaSalle

    * Claudia LaSalle

    So can we finally have an answer about Edgar's and Claudia's relationship?

    Timeline Sheet

    * Diving Into the Sea of Stars

    So how long is this part of the timeline gonna be? <_<

    Technology Sheet

    * Variable Fighter

    Should have figured they won't be done with this section yet...

  8. Just to clarify; WB was given the rights to make a Robotech movie only, not the rights over the entire franchise, correct? Something that Mr. March said made me wonder about HG's role in the franchise's future, that's all.

    Yes. WB obtained rights to the live-action movie with Tobey Maguire's production company, Maguire Entertainment.

  9. Does the VF-171 Nightmare Plus have a Gun Pod/Or Even A Beam Cannon? I mean the VF-171EX has a beam cannon connected to the arm that serves as the "Gun" during Battroid Mode. I was trying to re-watch the Series and not even once have I seen the Nightmare Plus have an Armament in Battroid Mode.

    Unfortunately, there's not a lot of documentation that I have or seen on the VF-171. They only thing the VF-171 retains from the VF-17 is the gun pod, probably the head lasers (this hasn't been documented so it's a maybe) and the shoulder missile launchers (reduced to 1 exit port/shoulder on the VF-171 instead of 2/shoulder on the VF-17). The cockpit laser guns are now machine guns according to the Vol. 8 liner notes and Official Fanbook.

  10. Ah, so it's 300mm but "Destroid armor" is the representative benchmark, not steel. That makes sense then. Of course, it also makes it impossible to determine the real world equivalent, but I suppose that's the point :)

    It's not like they make tanks anymore. :p We also don't know how tough Destroid armor is. The point of the wording is, a SPX-55-round can punch through some pretty hard stuff if it wanted to. And, let us not forget that a sniper rifle is a precision weapon. You don't spray-and-pray with that thing.

  11. Perfect, thx. So it's nothing more than a marketing ploy. I guess we'll have to wait and see if we ever get a "Macross Chronicle Illustration" book like the one that was released for Evangelion Chronicles.

    I forget the term, but you can tell in the pics that it has that 1/3-size-of-a-cover wrap-around on it. So I'm pretty sure it's a reprint for Frontier.

  12. How can people criticize the Shadow Chronicles?

    Get your heads examined please.

    Silence, you!

    I'm gonna agree with Gubaba. If there is any question of what HG can or cannot do, it's probably gonna have to come from whatever the live-action movie will pull out. And well, if there is any interest that will come, a reboot of the franchise is probably in order. Probably with people who can think of a better story to tie everything together.

  13. I'm guessing the 300 meter figure is correct. The 300 meter rating must be a representative figure since no destroid is 300 meters in size, let alone possessing armor that thick. A rating of 300 millimeters would be barely the same penetrating power as the earliest anti-tank missiles from the 1960s. We know that standard gun pods can destroy other valkyries and that the weakest of the valkyries (the VF-0, without thermonuclear engines) possessed armor as hard as a tank. Since we know from the events of Macross Frontier that the SSL-9B is far more powerful than a standard gun pod, it absolutely cannot have a penetration rating of 300 millimeters.

    It's a freakin typo. "300m" should be "300mm". :rolleyes: Which is the size of a regular desk ruler, which is quite thick. And it's Destroid armor, which is probably fairly dense not to mention it said it's a composite armor. <_<:rolleyes:

  14. Thanks for the link! Is the weight of the Super pack a back calculation from the accelerations and thrust ratings?

    That's how it was written in the 1/72 manuals. You'll have to ask the creators if it was a calculation.

    Also, didn't the shoulder missile pod data have a breakdown of the types of missiles (3 different types, IIRC) totalling up to 15 missiles in each shoulder pod?

    No. It only mentions that they are a Remmington HMM-5A CIWS missile pod. That's it. The 1/72 kit manuals do not list ammo counts on the Super parts.

    This also confirms that the Super parts are rocket powered (chemical propellant).

    Nearly all FAST packs use chemical propellant. Even the main engines use fuel when in space. In atmosphere, they use air as a propellant. This has been know for quite some time.

    I wonder why they use gold in the ammunition though. Doesn't make sense.

    Ask the creators.

    Re: RVF-25: The translation of the range of the Fold radar as 1 light day, rather than as a detection at the speed of light, makes alot more sense as well.

    It's been written like that since the vol. 4 liner notes came out.
