  1. Yeah, I know: it's been like that for quite some time. I'm putting away my violin and soapbox, now. I wonder if Dynacorn will ever offer complete Mopar body shells, like they do with 1st gen Camaros & Mustangs? With the availability of 5.7L and 6.1L crate Hemi's, it could conceivably create the ability to build up a repro E-body street fighter, in the sub-$50K range? (and maybe, just maybe, it could end up less of a porker than the new-Challenger?)
  2. $3.5 Mil at Mecum auction. Dahell? Seriously? http://blogs.hotrod.com/1971-hemi-cuda-sells-for-3-5-million-at-mecum-auction-123217.html#axzz369MvSsVj I can understand the majority of opinions posted in the comments. These high-profile auctions [i.e. pissing contests for the nouveau riche?] are pricing the middle class right out of the market for these cars...
  3. I suppose from the profile view, the outlines of the shape are supposed to mimic those of the bird next to it? From the outline of the nose and the top of the fenders, flowing back to the "bubble canopy" shaped greenhouse. I guess the character line running from the back of the front wheelwell into the lower front of the door is supposed to be reminiscent of a wing root? Definitely a bit of a stretch, though; fair bit of squinting and imagination required.
  4. I dunno. Just overwhelmingly meh as to this one's prospects. But still; if Miller et al put the same amount of effort and attention to details toward telling a truly good story with this film--like they did with the first 2--then it may stand a chance.
  5. Hell, you could re-release the original Predator. It's just a damned good sci-fi movie. OMG, can you believe it's been 25+ years? Oh wait. I suppose gun aficionados might complain the weapons look dated, cause they don't have modern tactical grips/accessories and such. But that's about it.
  6. For the love of God, man! Why?!? On the one hand, part of me thinks: well, who better to do it than the guy who co-wrote the original? Usually, it's when some clown totally un-involved with a 1st work thinking they know better than the originators that things go to sh*t.... but on the other hand, another part of me thinks: that's not always the case; apparently, no one in Hollywood has learned a godda*n thing from George Lucas' mistakes.
  7. Pantera: still a sexy beast, even compared to many newer cars. Group 4 is perhaps the best looking iteration....
  8. Sometimes, Hollywood doesn't wait all that long to re-hash (parts of) a movie. They may not remake it entirely (I haven't seen The Seven-Ups, so I'm not for certain with this one), but some scenes sure can give you a sense of deja vu... Sometimes, they'll even use the same actors. Bullitt: The East Coast Edition http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZkO71rEvvA Hehe, maybe he was playing that guy's cousin from Jersey.
  9. Dammit. Hate it when that happens. Was supposed to have been this, re: 2nd coming of E.T.
  10. Ooh--how about this: Parents who grew up on this: need something to take their kids to see during the summer, so we get this:
  11. Hollywood is all about recycling & repackaging the same basic ingredients, when it comes to making movies. Step 1. paint-by-numbers; step 2. cash in. Example: This: Got remade (basically) as this: which got recycled (more or less) as this: There's tons more examples to be found, I'm sure.
  12. Ah, good movies. I rather liked this one, and the Zucker Bros films. Funny how stuff like that can shape your childhood--or warp it, depending on your point of view. Don't know if it's funny--or just tragic--to think how prophetic their satire really was...
  13. Or The Birds. Or Rear Window. I'm not sure though; have they remade North By Northwest, or The Man Who Knew Too Much yet?
  14. Both are nice, but I actually like the Martini car better. Sure, the Anvil sounds plenty mean--but not every car has to go so gonzo over the top with the elephantine big blocks, 'pass everything 'cept a gas station.' The '66 reads like a formula for much more fun: much lighter, with plenty (enough for a unibody) horses on tap. And it sounds really wicked.
  15. Some monster truck forums say that it's been restored and repainted (copyright issues over the name?), but otherwise is still out there somewhere...
  16. Yesterday in slow traffic, I passed a "chrome" gold Gallardo heading the other way. Gotta admit, that has to have been the first time I have ever been left utterly gobsmacked--in person--by the absolute extravagance and sh*t taste displayed by an exotic car owner. *...ya know what? This Lambo just ain't got enough bling. Let's crank this up a notch!*
  17. Dang. Gotta stop reading those story synopses' on imdb before seeing the movie...
