  1. You also have to realize that Mari Iijma originally sang those songs during the bubblegum idol times of Japan. Since then, she's tried her hardest to establish herself as a more varied and flexible musician, so her singing style has changed. She doesn't want to go back to sounding like an idol singer. Unfortunately, the majority of her fan base will only recognize her as Minmay, so she's stuck performing the occasional Macross song album such as "Mari Iijima sings Lynn Minmay" to bring in some profit now and then. After all, she can't be raking in a ton of dough performing at Genghis Cohen's in LA once a week.
  2. I cracked up over that. I thought it was hilarious when the game started to appear to mess with your mind by telling you things like "don't you have better things to do than play video games?" and stuff like that, along with the Fission Mailed glitches. I almost started thinking that my PS2 had overheated when all that weirdness happened.
  3. The award would have to go to Gigile. He beats out Exedor's pulsating noggin.
  4. These UAVs look and functionally are more similar to a Ghost X-9 than your example, which is just a scramjet testbed. Although, the Predator armed UAV is the only armed UAV I know of in my limited knowledge of military hardware...
  5. #$(*&!@)!@*&!!!! How many run ins on HHH was that and he still won on RAW??? Sometimes I wonder why I even tune in, even if for just the last match...
  6. The VF-17 for the most part is pretty damn cool. However, the folding gunpod that shoots out of the leg feels too gimmicky for my taste. Other than that, I remember seeing the first picture of it in Newtype when they did a first preview of Macross 7 back in 96 and, and I thought it was going to one awesome title mecha, only to find that role go to the VF-19 Kai, which wasn't even featured in that article.
  7. My vote goes to Mylene's pink valkryie, the VF-11XL, I think it's called?
  8. I question why they simply could not visit the locales within Middle-Earth that are included in the license. Its not like there aren't lots of ruins they couldnt run around in to find things and such. Why have characters from the novel? I want to create an original character and let him play the in the grandeur that is Middle-Earth. All that can be done well within the canon that Tolkien established. I sure as heck don't wanna play Aragorn (at least not as he is portrayed in the movies). I question that their hands were tied. VUG is also working with Turbine to make Middle-Earth Online. Its not like they couldnt make an original RPG set in Middle-Earth. Essentially come up with an offline version of something similar to their MEO Project. It sounds more like VUG wanted to get something on the shelves and pushed it out without even considering things. Is Middle Earth Online a MMORPG? If so, maybe then they can skirt around the rights issue since MMORPGs usually don't have any sort of cohesive plot. They could just introduce a broad plot of defend Middle Earth against Sauron. But I also agree that EA probably just wanted something out by Xmas to boost profit.
  9. I read an interview with the executive producer for the game in Gamepro and the reason why the game does not expand out to new scenarios and such is that they were prevented to do so by who holds the rights for the books and movies. Vivendi Universal holds the rights to the books, so they can't draw upon any original Tolkien material and are prevented from expanding from what happens in the films. They were tied to making a game that did not "re-invent" or add to the Tolkien/Jackson mythology for Lord of the Rings. You never saw Aragorn or any other character in the third age being able to summon up the Valar to strike down the enemy, so you won't see any game character being able to do so either. I would have loved to see that though... So they could not just come up with an alternate plot involving any of the movie characters, or make up their own storyline during the War of the Ring, so basically you end up with a game that's on rails, stuck in one plot moving from established battle to battle. I'm disappointed myself since I would have liked to explore more of the world than be stuck moving from one battle to the next just basically tagging along with the fellowship.
  10. Ah, but you left out Marky Mark, who now goes by Mark Wahlberg. So maybe he might change?
  11. That would be an unfair match to begin with, as the Godfather is out of shape. Now if Jazz fought Batista... Actually I meant when he was in shape... What was the name of the finishing move he had where he threw someone into a corner then did the choo choo train splash? "Hos gotta eat"?
  12. Ok ok, but still... if you gotta look at one on TV, who would you rather see? I vote for the one without the chunky ass. You may have different preferences.
  13. Yeah, there were several parts where even my parents could make out a few scattered Tagalog words when I watched it as a kid. Although Lando's co-pilot always sounded like my uncle hitting up the karaoke after he had several beers in his system!
  14. When you compare her to Nidia, Stacy, Torrie Wilson or Molly Holly? She definitely was better than any of them, or at least had some flair in her moves and didn't come off as a klutz. As for Jazz, yeah she is quite manly. If I had to bet on who would win in a match, the Godfather Kama Mustafa or Jazz, i'd bet all my dough on her kicking his ass.
  15. God that's stupid. They released both Jazz and Gail Kim??? Both of them were the best female wrestlers WWE had and Jazz could actually wrestle better than alot of the men in the locker room and even Orton in my opinion.
  16. What's the deal with Test? Why had he been off air for so long? The way I saw him, he was like a more talented and harder working Diesel with better moves and agility. His mic skills weren't as bad as Orton's, Maven's, Brock Lesnar's or even Benoit. Hell, I give the guy props for just being able to go home to Stacy Keibler every night and gettin some. So why'd they ditch him?
  17. Where'd you come up with that? I figured that it was just a dead specimen they were keeping to study.
  18. I always loved the X planes. Especially the X-31 thrust vector testbed, that thing has crazy manueverability! The F16XL is sweet looking as well, and take a look at the X-29! http://www.dfrc.nasa.gov/Gallery/Photo/Fle...7-44165-149.jpg http://www.dfrc.nasa.gov/Gallery/Photo/Fle...C94-42513-3.jpg http://www.dfrc.nasa.gov/Gallery/Photo/X-3...C92-04233-9.jpg
  19. i really really get pissed at thiese comments... nessessity is the mother of invention, the military NEEDED transforming planes, so it makes sence that the resorces went into the valkyries to FORCE them to work. the valkyries are a very well thought out design that fill a plot driven purpose, stuff like the claws on the MONSTER1 and the "less" advanced valks pulling more advanced manuvers is simple gawdy showyness to make the show "cool" and have no clear cut reason to be there. no amount of tie down straps would make a plane viable for hand to hand combat. given anime magic it makes sence to have transforming valks. there are a dozen things that make more sence than big robotic claws to help brace the monster: straps were mentioned, recoiling barrols would work, simply designing the center of gravity so the thing could fire properly, built in tripod legs (much simpler). i'm confident the only reason the monster has claws was so it would look neat, and then someone thought up.."i guess it could use them to brace itself" wow.. i went on a tirade.. back to sleep for me.. ZZzzzz You're preaching to the converted, KingNor. I just added that little comment since I can foresee the inevitable "It's a cartoon for crissakes, stop being a overcritical bitch" comments from people out there. Not that I care, but either way, I'm not going to get to worked up over a claw on a anime robot. Now sneakers on the Evangelion... that's a different story!
  20. The only thing is that Kawamori isn't so big on making direct sequels as opposed to side stories. And only then he may put something into the Macross universe because he otherwise cannot get Bandai or whatever company to buy into a production unless he ties it into a previously successful production. The thought of a direct sequel to Zero is remote IMO, but I wouldn't be against it by any means if it was a TV series. Too bad they would only make such a decision based on how well the Zero OVAs sold... and has it really been that successful to the general anime audience of today (meaning not just the small niche market of 30 something Macross fans)?
  21. Exactly my point as well. What's easier to design and implement, a gigantic mechanical claw or some sturdy hooks and tiedown cables to latch onto the already existing hooks on the deck of most carriers? You certainly don't see any military coming up with robotic hands attached to the bottom of their sea planes to grab onto the deck when coming down for a landing. How ridiculous would that be? Then again, this is anime and if I can swallow a transforming airplane, I should be able to swallow a giant claw on the front of an artillery piece.
  22. God, the lobster claw still bugs me since the claw design looks so obviously like an last minute add on, since it doesn't blend at all with the original design. I'm thinking a more cost effective method of keeping it on the carrier would have been arresting cables or something, rather than design and manufacture a bigass claw and figure out how to incorporate it into an existing design. That lobster claw was a joke dude. Uh yeah, thanks for the clue, but I already knew about that joke. Not to mention I clicked on the link at the top of THIS thread so there was no confusion. I was referring to the mechanical arm, Macross Fanboy, not the photoshop. I just called it a lobster claw because of its absurdity.
  23. I don't think everyone was complaining about wanting more complexity, more the lack of any semblance of character development and how the story was rushed.

  25. It's hard to believe that those skinny little wings can hold the stress of those huge boosters, especially placed that far out on the wings. And why would they put thrust vectoring flaps on a booster... to spin the fighter out of control?!
