  1. I really like both modes and I think it's the closest to the anime a transforming toy has ever gotten so far although Aoshima version is certainly a close second. The shortening of the cockpit in armo-soldier is a great idea and solves one of the ugliest compromises the other versions have made. The proportions of the feet seem much more balanced than previous versions too. Hopefully its articulation (hips mostly) will blow the competition out of the water too.

The more compact rear booster area in armo-fighter, the way the head is stowed under the cockpit are really showing progress compared to most previous versions. I'm not really sold on the small tailfins here but I guess Sentinel had to compromise on this because of the proportions of the forearms.

I wonder if the legioss will  be sold a bit cheaper than the ride armors. It probably will, right? I mean it's only one figure and there should be less pieces composing it too.

  2. That statue looks hideous to me, design, pose, proportions, everything looks pretty bad. I'd buy a proper sofubi figure in a heartbeat, this thing I'd never bother owning

  3. Very nice work, keep it going!

I was and still am a huge fan of Gooseman's character. His ranger power being based on a super immune system is a brilliant idea and his Clint Eastwood looks did the rest. I also love the fighter craft, the design was somewhat reminiscent of the Galactica Vipers but so much sleeker. I did some Goose fanart a few years back and remember noticing how the fighter's design was kind of looking like a buffalo or goat skull you'd see in those 70's western movies.

so this is probably old news but the evo toys legioss preorders seem to be completely sold out?!  dang,  my wait and see approach might be backfiring. haha

I wouldn't worry too much about that. If I'm not mistaken the same thing happened with the VF-2SS and it was still available at most online resellers after release.

Unless Evo Toys drastically reduced the production numbers this time that is ^^ ...

Oh yeah, I also discovered what I think is the backpack click lock mentioned. It doesn't click or lock when you fold it up but the double joint has a distinct click and lock which helps it stay in place. Is that what you guys are talking about it am I still missing something?

That's it yes. I tried it on my original HM vf-1j hikaru release but it doesn't seem to have it or maybe it's just way too stiff. I'll check my original HM Roy and Max too

  6. I'm not sure if this has been mentioned as an improvement for the HMR VF-1 line over the original releases but I just noticed a few days ago while transforming my HMR VF-1S Roy into battroid mode that the backpack can now be pushed down and it actually clicks into place and locks very securely. On the original release you'd push the backpack down a bit but didn't have the click into place feature and eventually it would get out of position when handled even moderately. That's especially helpful with the FAST packs installed as they stressed the backpack and pulled it out of position way too easily.

Apologies in advance if that a commonly known fact ^^

  7. Thanks for the scale comparison pic Duymon.

Looks like it'll be a pass for me, the size difference with the Brave Gokin is way too big and I'm just not liking this toyline enough to bother tracking the previous releases even if the zero looks really nice

Ooh that does it, I'll do a review... some day.

That would be great, I'm looking forward to it

I just finally ordered the Ingram 1 (cuz saturn needs a friend, i was waiting for non ingram labors to start poppin up before investing in a new Patlabor toy line)

Once it arrives I'll have a comparison to the CM's Brave Gohkin asap.

If only CM's hadn't messed up its budget line with the mediocre peacemaker and abyssmal broken....... (I picked up a blue and red broken each at $20 bucks and still felt jipped)

Thanks a lot Duymon! I only got the blue one and I agree with you the Broken is a complete mess of a toy, but as a display piece it looks nice enough for me to overlook its many flaws. I didn't change its pose since almost 2 years now and it hasn't fallen apart yet. The elbows are wrapped in a piece of cloth and they used to pop out all the time. Nice looking detail but what an incredibly backward build. If the RD version is in comparable scale I'd love to get that version as a more posable replacement

  9. That Riobot is the most beautiful toy I've seen in quite some time. It's going to be pricey but hopefully the build quality will not disappoint as Sentinel usually produces good stuff.

Regarding transformation as Kazuo said earlier it looks like this one is actually working "realistically" regarding the transition from rider on a bike to armored trooper. It'll be very exciting if they can pull it off and still limit the transformation headache below Beagle levels.

  10. @MikeRoz : the pegs that go into the back of the legs are not properly in (should go all into the calves), that should help with the gap at the back of the knees. The backpack is on a double hinge so it can be straightened up (yours is obviously droopy here, you need to press a bit at the hinge to wiggle the rear upward). This also helps reduce that gap because the backpack goes a bit lower here. The vertical stabilizers can be pushed in so they are perfectly flush with the backpack too.

There's still a small gap behind the knees and the upper fuselage but honestly it's only noticeable if you look directly from the side

  11. Agreed, the kneecaps in fighter mode are the prime eyesore. I'm not too worried about that problem with this one though, seems like the kneecaps are hinged so it is probably going to be just like the MPC. Let's hope it can retain the build quality of the CM's.

Gone are the backward clicky knee joints too, the legs are probably extending out for soldier mode like the MPC but maybe they've done something different. I don't really understand why there is an additional thigh segment. It's also in the lineart but maybe it's also part of the transformation?

I just wish they'd implement a ball jointed hip this time, it seems so simple and it would make a big difference for posing compared to any previous version.

  12. I think it looks pretty cool so far, the sculpt in battroid especially.

Ignacio, from the fighter pics you posted I agree with you that the Evo is looking way closer to the linear although my concern would be the way the head is not recessed into the underside of the nosecone. This was already an issue on the CM's, leaving an ugly lateral gap across the airframe. Hopefully it's just this prototype being mistransformed.

I'm all in anyway, modern Legioss toys are just too rare to pass.

  13. I don't know about the add-ons, personally I think it's pretty complete on its own, it does everything one might need to do comics or manga. EX version also has support for 3 models import which can be rendered in various ways. You can see a lot of that in modern mangas including macross the first if I'm not mistaken, it's a great time saver and gives very impressive results (but imo it lacks the oldschool charm of more organic hand drawn mechas).

Anyway to each their own I guess but every CSP adopter I know has never gone back to PS except for painting/coloring maybe which is arguably superior in PS : it has more filters, add-ons, extremely deep brush configuration and some odd stuff you'd see only if you use specific hardware like Wacom's artpen stylus (vertical axis rotation).

If you're not drawing comics digitally then CSP EX may not be the tool for you, otherwise it's a no brainer.

  14. So I would bet it's probably going to be the best Legioss figure ever released if QC is on par with CM's. It looks like they corrected all the awkward stuff about the CM's (knee joint especially, larger intakes too) so I'm definitely in on this one.

  15. I love the sculpt so far, it looks great and it also seems to have all the features the previous toys had. I can only hope that the tiny pegs we can see on the arms are enough to keep it together in fighter mode and that the nosecone is shorter than the CM's one. One of the things I didn't like about the CM's was the way the knee caps stood outwards in fighter mode whereas the Aoshima/Toynami ones were sliding up towards the body to help it keep a more streamlined look. I hope this EVO has somehow dealt with this.

Other than that the hip mechanism looks very similar to the CM's with maybe some more mobility to split the legs open. I remember seeing a mod for the CM's which allowed something similar but maybe it was at the expense of the fighter's solidness.

  16. Amazing work Lolicon!

I think you forgot to push in the head of the 0S in your fighter pics, the visor should be completely recessed under the nosecone which is another cool improvement over the old Yamato
