IM glad this is selling well
Here's hoping to A TRU TV version of the SDF-1. Still waiting on the rest of the destroids
G-Man. Did you ever ask your contacts at yamato if they would ever do a commander type Zentradi POD. That would be My WHITE Whale. As a kid I really loved that thing

The HG Kishatshika (sp?) and Geara Douga almost got me into building HG on a larger scale, but ultimately I decided to focus on MG. I had built the initial HG Exia and a few of the other OO Gundams, but compared to MGs, they were not really that fun... and I don't really like the 1/144 scale....
Although I guess it depends on what you enjoy. I don't have them - but maybe one day I think I'd like to check out the new Gundam Wing stuff coming out in MG scale... the EW Deathscythe looks especially tantalizing...
But for now...I'm building the Red Frame Astray and focusing on it :-)
One at a time...

From one Peter to another....
I hate HGs. Build quality makes me feel its for 2 year olds. MGs/PGs/RGs and Kotobukiya AC/Zoids kits have spoiled me. On that note the RG are really challenging and fun! All the MG goodness rolled out in a smaller 1/44 package. You have to get the 2 kits available right now. I am really curios if they will attempt the Zeta? But you should at least try one PG. May I suggest the RX - 178

Has anyone hit up Ikea lately?
Apparently there's a been a sale going on from December 26th to January 9th.
I'd tempted to drop a good amount of coin on a new display cabinet. Any suggestions?
I always find Detolfs by using Craigs list. Of 6 that I have I bought 4 of them on craigs list for around 20 bucks each. Which reminds me I need to get two more
-
could not finish the uploads as i have to wait but there is more
nothing special but i think bandai is really pushing the PG 2 issues and basically the same pic but it worked because I bought it
I have this on pre-order
-
To me they look tacked on and awkward; like they didn't even try to make them match up with the base mobile suit. The Impulse Gundam does the exact same thing but much better:
The Green one looks like ass.
But I really like the Strike attachments. I have my PG SF on its way along with the red frame. I think the weakest of the PGs are Zeta and OO Raiser

Scirroco Paptimus established Jupiter to be the most evil place in the universe by sheer force of his presence. As such, Jupiter is now synonimous with evil.
Hey comon! Scirroco was de coolest enemy next to Zechs Merquise, and Anavel Gato!~
And Jupiter is an evil place. Outside its our solar systems garbage collector it and the space around it is extremely hostile.
the Braves really stole the mech action in the movie
YES!

I always viewed the Gundam space emigration and Newtype manifest destiny a bit idiotic
no. I feel it would only be natural for animosity to arise between gifted and regular folk. We are an insecure species, we fought wars over color of skin! And immigration to space, it will happen as long as profilgating consumerists US expect insane growth rates in GDP of 20+% we wont have a place to live without wearing a HAZMAT suit, so space is the next frontier.
As for Gundam becoming stale. I dont think so. With UC ie MS08th, Stardust, and even Unicorn we are getting different perspectives from around the same time. I must repeat here that I really liked 00 season 1 and slightly 2 but focus on story started loosing out to pew pew pew. And the MF movie although a retelling of the OVA in condensed format was still a pleasure to watch.

It's not great but it's a pic
it sure does look nice
BTW like your monitor
PSBTW I took my $300 X-Mas $$ and put it to towards the purchase the of the PG Strike Freedom. Sigh I guess IM not such a macross lover !

I would bet it would be more expensive if they made a TV version if for nothing else that the arm attachments are slightly more complex on the TV version. The DYRL has those spiked tendrils that attach to the ARMD's but they always stay in pretty much the same place. On the TV version the arms actually retract into the shoulders. They don't necessarily have to do that on the toy but it will hurt line-art accuracy in Cruiser mode as the Daedalus sits closer to the legs than the Prometheus and the collapsible arms make that happen. That's a lot more complicated a mechanism.
huh never noticed that. I dont mind if its slightly different than the line art. There is only so much you can do but my biggest concern is the price tag

Woohoo! I just received mine at the door this afternoon in Toronto, Canada. Luckily most of us still had a day off in lieu of New Years being on a Saturday! Just some info for anyone in Canada considering this wonderful toy; I was charged $50.66 ($8 Canada Post handling fee + $42.66 GST/HST tax on $328.18cdn value - thanks government for nothing!) at the door on top of the shipping of 4840Y already paid to AmiAmi. So overall, the total price came up to $446.06cdn (including paypal/creditcard conversions) - which I am always interested in when purchasing something like this. I am not happy with the fact that I paid over $100 for shipping/brokerage/taxes which hurts on an already expensive purchase. The toy is definitely worth over $350cdn, but $450 is pushing it and depends on how fanatical you are - I absolutely LOVE IT!
I too live in Toronto and as I have mentioned before, in another thread our tax on imports is rather arbitrary. Now the toy is too rich for my blood and I can understand Americans having the cash but people in toronto??? Like I say a river of gold runs under this city. Ok back to topic.
Mr Graham... with your confirmation from Yamato on sales of this beast going well and me just checking internet retailers seeing short stock/Restock notifications will Yamato make the TV version and will it be the same price as the Movie version?
-
The VF-4 is so beautiful.
If Yamato makes the VF-4, They would have gained a special place in my heart! and a TV SDF 1 of course
-
I've had a VF-0A for several years, since the original release. About 2 years ago, after not having really touched it for over a year, I was packing it up to move house. I was HORRIFIED to find that the elbow disc joints (that let the forearms spin 360 degrees) had completely disintegrated on both arms. Is there any chance I can get replacement parts for these? Has it happened to anyone else? I have a bad feeling that it was caused by my idiotic use of Endust to clean it
Here are some pictures of the damage. The plastic on both ends of the connection looks to have totally crumbled.
wow
-
This is clearly "TOY OF THE YEAR"!!!
I'm handling mine and am drowning in a pool of drool.
I respectfully disagre with the folks that complain that it looks plain or that the city should come painted, the level of surface detail is beyond awesome!!!
For the in doubt fans, don't deprive yourselves from an excellent toy!!!
For the fans that prefer the TV version, I wish Yamato ventures into it.
[/sarcasm mode on]
P.S: for the haters out there, I'll shut my mouth and stop with the praising, when the arms spontaneously self destruct!!!
[/sarcasm mode off]
Toy of the Year??? A nice toy yes but not toy of the year
You have the Alter Linebarrel, PG SF, RG, Mac Quarter, CM GaoGaiGar V.2 GFFMC Unicorn, MP Movie Starscream, Hot Toys Iron Man and more with a lot more paint apps, articulation, transformation and highly collectible. I Understand its Macross but just because it is doesnt make it toy of the year
I think we need an new etymology to describe collectible toys. These are not toys as you would not give a 400 toy to your child to play with as they are not that hardy. I like to call them Pop Cultural Collectibles or something more fitting to indicate we as adults don't collect toys but something more valuable than a child's plaything
-
So second release could be eminent.
Great news indeed.
Thats awesome Im glad to hear that. Hope that I will be able to buy a 1/3000 TV Version which I am holding out on.
-
Ugh, I think I probably made a bad judgement call. I should have used my money to get this instead of changing plans and getting some other things.
And, according to HLJ, the "low stock" means that if they continue to sell at their current pace they will sell out within a week.
wow and I thought I had an addictive personality
Relax, even if they run out of stock I am sure Yamato will make more
-
Not sure how many are made, but it seems that HLJ is the only e-tailers available. I'm still surprise it even sells at its current retail price in this economy!?
well judging from the posts AmiAmi is pretty popular maybe 20-25 sold just by members here and then counting how many others. Maybe a run of 2000. So if they sell half that is that what Yamato considers successful??? Graham might know. Would be interested to know within the first week how sales are.
-
Lol, maybe they'll go the Iron Giant route...

How many pieces were made?
