  1. When I was a kid I met some famous Japanese Fighter Pilots from WWII. Also met at least on famous American Fighter Pilot from WWII. Didn't talk to, but saw Kiefer Sutherland and his family at the opening special showing for Toy Story. They were sitting in the row in front of my family and I. I didn't even know who the hell he was at the time, but my mom pointed him out. Met Dom DeLuise at an autograph session at a bookstore. He was signing with a family friend for a restaurant guide they worked on together. Met Kevin Smith at San Diego Comic Con, but didn't talk to him since I didn't want to bug him. Saw Billy Boyd and David Wenham as well. Actually my wife walked right next to them during their autograph session, while we were wandering through the dealer's room trying to get past a big crowd. Security stopped her and asked her if she had a pass for autographs, and my wife was like "huh? I just want to get past the crowd to look at the LOTR costumes." Sat next to Andy Seto at either Japan Expo or Cartoonist here in Paris, one of the two conventions. I didn't ask him for an autograph and sketch, didn't want to bother the guy since EVERYONE was throwing themselves on him for autographs... I kind of wish I asked for a sketch of Leona Heidern. Oh well. Oh yeah, he did the chinese comic King of Fighters Zillion. Got an autograph from Fujishima Kousuke and my wife talked with him and his group at an autograph session at a local bookstore in Paris (his first autrograph session too!). Author of Oh My Goddess/Aa Megami-sama. My wife has met and gotten autographs and sketches from, Takeuchi Naoko (Sailor Moon), Watase Yuu (Fushigi Yuugi), Masakazu Katsura (Video Girl Ai), Nihei Tsutomu (Blame and that crappy Wolverine comic), Akimoto Nami (Miracle Girls), Takahata Isao (My Neighbors the Yamadas, Grave of the Fireflies, Pompoko), and a number of famous european comic artists. She has some sketches that they drew together (not all at the same time, but on an individual basis), since my wife is a pretty good artist. In Japan we went to the Hijikata Toshizo museum and met his descendents (not direct, descendents of his sister), even got an autograph from them written in a book about Hijikata Toshizo and the Shinsengumi. Met Kawarajima Koh at comike and got his autograph on one of his doujinshi. Normally he doesn't do autographs but made a special exception for my wife and I, because we were foreignors. I even got to shake his hand. We got an autograph from Satoshi Shiki (Riot, and Kamikaze), who was at his booth, but hiding behind a stack of boxes, drawing. We got a personalized autograph from Yonekura Kengo, who did Pink Sniper and was the character designer of one of the recent Evangelion games. She was really nice. Went to Saigado's booth and the guy holding the booth helped me helpt this guy collect his coins when he dropped his coin bag on the ground. Then it turned out the real nice, healthy looking, thin guy that was holding the booth was Saigado himself! We didn't realize until we asked if it was possible to get an autograph "from the master" (the way you word it in Japanese since you never know if you're talking to just someone holding the booth, an assistant, or like in this case, the artist). So he searched out a pen and signed the two doujinshi I bought from him. My wife got an autograph from the famous mangaka, Shimamoto Kazuhiko (Hoeru Pen). The guy made an exception to the "no autograph policy" because of my wife being a foreignor. The people at the booth thought I was just some Japanese guy trying to follow the foreign girl to get an autograph and were going to kick me away from the booth. So my wife had to intervene to tell them that "no, he's my husband." We also got autographs from a number of less famous doujinshika, and some sketches. Like my wife got this awesome sketch of Naked Snake/Big Boss from MGS3. We both got some Saint Seiya sketches by some of the better Saint Seiya focused doujinshika. Fun stuff.
  2. Count me out. I'm not giving that company any of my money. I'll stick with my Banpresto VF-1S Focker. After actually seeing the MPC Veritechs and all, I'm not going to flush money down the toilet on these things.
  3. Thanks sketchley, I had managed to forget that movie. Now I will send the ghosts of lemmings to chant in their little lemming voices by your bedside while you sleep at night!
  4. Anything from the older generation of cartoon shorts that was violent and didn't have Foghorn Leghorn. I hated him.
  5. I had read a rumor about that fx work so knew to keep my eyes open in advance. Man it blew me away in the theater, while almost everyone else didn't seem to notice.
  6. Some might say that Bloom and Pitt are prettier than these women, yet they're men. I see your point TheLoneWolf. But man, if these are the babes of adv, please don't show the non-babes!
  7. I don't have a picture of it, but my parents went to eat at a Vietnamese place that had listed in ingredients of one dish "crap meat".
  8. Cool, thanks areaseven!
  9. DS9 = awesome I like Garek. I admit I never finished watching the series, and some of the stuff with the Doctor I found really stupid, but overall DS9 was an awesome series. And the fleet battles, oh man. Great stuff. They should have had something like that in First Contact! Long big fleet battle against the borg, rather than catching the end of it.
  10. Can't sleep, vampire will eat me!
  11. Oh man I remember playing Total Annihilation way back when. On the site for sending in unit suggestions that they'd let people vote for and turn into downloadable units, I kept sending in the suggestion of a variable fighter. I gave up. lol I loved that game. I would play with some of my buddies and we'd play that game for hours. My favorite thing would be to build a huge airforce of gunships and sweep into my friend's base and wipe out all his buildings and ground units. I would have so many gunships that it didnt matter if he had anti-air aircraft, they'd get blown out of the air in an instant. Ah.... The D-gun. Good stuff. Never knew they were doing another game.
  12. Underground Mandarake. I picked up the Star Wars doujinshi I took my avatar from there. Nice selection of stuff they had at that one. I picked up my CM collection Minmay and Hikaru figures there (the variant), although I was annoyed to find Hikaru was mising his hair... Then again I bought the pair just to get Minmay, so it's not going to kill me.
  13. Cool, a debate that's being kept clean and civil. Congratulations guys, you rock!
  14. Magneto, Storm, and Sentinel will kick their butts, you know it! Or Magneto, Storm, and Iron Man. Or Magneto, storm, and Cable. In MvC2 those three were really popular teams, and damn my best friend owned using those teams. lol He spent like $1 at AX to play on a MvC2 machine, and racked up 60 or so straight victories (then he gave up the machine because no one could beat him and he got bored). I also watched him play against some of the guys that would play in the big MvC2 tournaments, crazy stuff.
  15. Movie Rogue sucks so much, she should die. Like seriously die, and not be brought back if they're going to keep her as a sucky character.
  16. HAHAHAHA! thats good 405574[/snapback] And here I thought it would be a series of animated gifs.
  17. Best Sword Fight: Kenshin vs. Saito re-united (Rurouni Kenshin tv series)(agree with NERV). Saito would have beat Kenshin had no one interfered (at the AX with Watsuki, someone asked which of the two would win. Saito would always win, unless Kenshin was fighting to protect someone). The battle was pretty intense, they both made fatal mistakes that could have cost either of them their lives. Unlike every other idiot in the series, Saito sees Kenshin leap into the air, so he stabs him out of the air rather than block. -runner up: Kenshin vs Jine (Rurouni Kenshin OVA2). Jine looks seriously sick. I almost crapped my pants when he glared at Kaoru. That was a pretty intense fight, plus it had Otsuka Akio playing Jine with that sick twisted laugh while he goads Kenshin. -runner up: Van vs Black Dragon Clan on Airship (Escaflowne the movie). Van owned them all. Fast paced, bloody, and brutal. Best Hand-to-Hand Combat Fight: Spike vs Vincent (Cowboy Bebop the Movie) They seriously got to beating the living sexual intercourse out of each other. Best hand-to-hand fight in anime I can think of. edit: okay yeah they started it with pistols, but other than opening attacks it was all hand-to-hand until the end. Best Monster Fight: EVA-02 vs Production Series EVAs (End of Evangelion) The poop has hit the fan, the power cable has been severed, a buttload of powerful hostiles are dropping in, and Asuka has less than 5 minutes to kill everyone. Pretty intense fight from what I remember, but it's been a while since I watched it. Best Magic Fight: Virgo Shaka vs Gemini Saga, Capricorn Shura, and Aquarius Camus (Saint Seiya Hades Arc Sanctuary Chapter) It's not really magic, but neither are ki-blasts, so whatever. Three of the most powerful Gold Saints triple teaming a guy that usually kills powerful people without opening his eyes, and when he does open them you're dead but you just don't know it yet. Hi-power attacks, lots of drama for fans of the series, and lots of pain filled expressions. In Saint Seiya it looks like it hurts when people get hit with stuff. Best Girl Fight: I can't think of any that was particularly good other than Project A-ko I guess Best Old Man Fight: Aries Shion vs Libra Dohko (Saint Seiya Hades Arc Santuary Chapter) The old purple Yoda-ish dude that never fought throughout the whole series, finally fights. Plus he pulls a trick that had me going WTF when I saw it.
  18. "Perhaps today is a good day to die. Prepare for RAMMING SPEED!" I just wish First Contact had a longer space battle. I wanted to see Starfleet get its ass beat down by the Borg before Picard and Data (forget the rest of the cast, they're filler anyway for the movies) turn the tables and win the battle.
  19. You know it, you father scratching cheese rocket!
  20. Heh I remember that, awecore!
  21. That would be awesome! In fact if I ever get Magneto powers, I'll make sure to fly everywhere in a flimsy folding chair! The kind I used to get hurt in as a kid because I'd play around with it and get caught in it when I break it.
  22. OOOOOoooooooooh so that's what they change to. Cool.
  23. Not an admin, but testing testing poo fart batty
  24. You had to bring up Man Faye didn't you! Damn your eyes! (Too late!) There've been cosplay threads in the past, but they usually got closed down due to: a) skanky pics b) personal commentary, which can be hard to avoid when the person looks nothing like the character and is a monstrous fatty to boot, or has a costume that they spent NO time or energy on. (kind of like what I just did) c) Man Faye, need I say more?
  25. Is advertising like this allowed on Macross World?
