  1. Honestly, I can see now why the panel was put on the Thursday timeslot - they didn't have a damn thing to talk about and their current thoughts on the industry have isolated them from the other companies. What an 80s mentality they have.

Also, an unintentional burn towards Tommy Yune by Kramer. I thought Tommy was actually Carl's successor this whole time. Does that mean everything he's done for Robotech has been BS and they knew it?

And they also had another panel that was basically about what happened around 4 years ago when HG was invited in a convention on China. They dedicated a panel about a past event that's irrelevant to what's important right now, which is the future of Robotech. God they're just wasting a floor area. :(

  2. They go on to talk about how accurate translations are bowing to The Japanese, Robotech touches everyone, but yet at the same time nobody would have any anime without Robotech.

So, if I understand Kramer and Forstadt correctly, Robotech is the gateway to more "freely adapted" dubs and we should be thankful for them because without butchered anime we wouldn't have any more anime, which they want butchered as well? WTF

and remember, if you speak Nihongo you don't exist!

It's true Macek was reponsible for giving those people voice acting careers. I guess that explains why they're so willing to go along with all of this.

I don't understand these people as to why they keep insisting that Carl Macek single-handedly brought anime in the US as if they're trying to say that those who pioneered in bringing anime in the US from 1960, 1970, to early 1980 didn't exist. That's just downright insulting.

  3. TSC is only available on bootleg DVD, like every anime title out there. As far as those Jollibee toys go, I would care less if they sold out or not; HG would still go out and claim that RT is #1 in the Philippines, when their fanbase here is almost non-existent. Hobby shops like GreatToysOnline.com still have MPCs and Toynami's Macross toys collecting dust on the shelves.

BTW, for those who just stepped in, RT broadcasting in the Philippines started with Southern Cross, as the original Macross (with a local English dub) aired years earlier. Also, Macross was supposedly brought into the Philippines by HG as a test market.

News flash, Robotech is a sold out in Divisoria :p. All i remember was Robotech being aired every afternoon at 4:00 pm right before Small Wonder. I think it was at the same timeslot as Slamdunk and Sailor Moon. This was like in 1995-1996.

  4. I wonder which area of South East Asia RTSC was aired, because seriously, Robotech is hardly felt here in the Philippines. Though there was that Jollibee (a Philippine fast food chain) Kiddie meals toys a few months back. I dunno how well it was received. The last time Robotech was aired in the Philippines was way back in the mid 90's.

As for this 'gimmick', i see it as HG's attempt to keep the fans interested in Robotech and to remind them that this franchise is still alive.

  5. This 'new' comic is probably be another TPB of older comics. Or a web comic of PttSC TPB. I guess HG thinks this is a good holdover until the RTLAM comes around.

Oh and i just remembered, in a previous con, they showed a short animation of Ariel flying towards the screen with a punch. So i have a reason to believe this Sera pic is just for promotional stuff.

  6. If they're going to reboot SDFM, my suggestion is to split it into two seasons. The first season would cover from episode 1 up to Dolza's defeat. And season 2 would cover episode 28 to 36 and ends with the departure of the Megaroad 01. I would like to see season 2 as a 20+ episodes that delves more into the characters after SW1 like Hikaru and Misa's shaky relationship. And of course, the Zentradi rebellion. And maybe some Destroid action.

  7. Here's one question that's been bothering me; is the SDF-2 still considered canonical in Robotech? I mean, it's a phantom ship that was awkwardly put in as a plot device. Aside from the short blurb about it listing, there's no other indication to it's existence. So does it really exist?

  8. Doing that sort of thing as a bit of harmless fun is all well and good, but is this all they can think of to commemorate the 25th anniversary? Pretty much nothing from Harmony Gold as far as the 25th anniversary... and the fans seem to be emulating their example. About all they've done is a handful of "anniversary edition" podcasts, the majority of which are either just synopses of various parts of the story, or attempts to kiss Tommy Yune's ass and badmouth people. No fan art. No websites. No fan films (though that may be Harmony Gold's fault). There's a definite feeling of anticlimax and failure hanging around the subject of the Robotech anniversary.

I always thought by now they'd at least update their website also. But no, HG has to be as cheapskate as possible.

  9. Robetech LAM is actually going to be a video game with live action segments, sort of like those old 3DO games.

Something like Night Trap? You play an RDF Soldier who must keep Lisa, Minmei, Claudia, Sammy, Vanessa, and Kim safe while they're having a slumber party. :p

  10. If Harmony Gold needs someone to revitalize RTech, then they should hire Joseph Lai. The guy knows how to combine terrible shows to create an even more terrible show.

And by terrible show you mean like Raiders Of Galaxy?

  11. At least he didn't post the Sentinels version.

That would be a much better comparison of the difference in art styles between Robotech and SDF Macross. Specially now HG is basing the remaining 'Macross Saga' characters on their Sentinels redesigns.

  12. I doubt it...

Bendover doesn't have anything else except for Robotech. Gods know it hasn't made any friends with any other group attributed to Robotech.com...

Bendover did say he's a fan of Gundam. Then again, he'd be ripped apart by Gundam fans. B))
