  1. In other not so exciting automotive news, GM will be eliminating Saturn pretty soon... hooray! My current vehicle will thus become a "collector's item" soon and worth millions. Oh, to dream of all the Yammies I will be able to buy!

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight, you keep on counting that money your going to make. Your millions can set next to the millions that are building up in the value of my 02 WS-6 Trans Am....

  2. F*ck corolla's. stretch the hood, drop in a V6 and call it a supra for god sakes...

(on second thought, don't... go back to the drawing board and keep working till you've got something as sexy as a MkIII)

After working for Toyota for 15 years, Ive come to the conclusion that Toyota couldnt make a real performance car if thier lives depended on it. Theyre to busy fawning over themselves while offering cars that pretend to be sporty or luxury with techno-b.s. features on thier cars that are in a constant state of campaigns (what they call it when they catch a problem before your forced to do a recall). Thier new moto for Toyota should be "Toyota , when you really want to say Buick in Japanesse".

  3. I wonder if they'll need to retcon the Shadow Chronicles??? Here's one of the bigger plot sink holes I usually see... If the Haydonites want the earth destroyed, as well as all the humans, why didn't they launch their own set of Neutron-S missiles at the earth as well as soon as the Invid left? Along those same lines, would you kill a bear by throwing pebbles at it, risking your life, or, would you use the giant .50 calibur rifle on your back?

Only thing I can think is that the Haydonites wouldnt use the Neutron S's because it uses protoculture energy as a catalyst. They are capable of the knowledge and application of the energy but being that is so "stigmatic" they wont use it themselves, they helped the REF with it as a sort of irony "Protuculture addicts" destroying themselves by protoculure itself.

  4. I watched it and I enjoyed it so I'll be watching more... however there were 3 points that really pushed the limits of credibility for me and are still picking at me. To be on the safe side I'll put these in spoilers.

    1. 1.

This ship has been flying for how long? Hundreds of thounds of years or more and its leaking air... what are the odds that our crew arrives just 1 hour before all the air is gone?

    2.

We have a door to a shuttle that isn't working properly and the shuttle is a BIG air leak. So... who had the bright idea of taking a GROUP of people into it to see if they could close the door from the inside? I half expected that if they could close it that they wouldn't be able to open it again. The door is broken... remember? Why risk the whole group on a test?

    3.

And did ANYONE think to try to close the door from the inside using one of those flying camera spheres? It appeared to be just a matter of pushing a button. The senitor, who I assume couldn't read Ancient, was able to figure it out. At most you'd think they might have to tape a stick or rod to the sphere to push the button but come on... is everyone that eager to kill members of the group off.

    Carl

    1. There could be a million and a half answers for that, not going to think about it. Ill take what I can get from the basic concept.

    2.

The shuttles door wasnt the broken door. The ships door to the docking port of the shuttle was the broken door. If youll remember they were woking on an access panel from the wall of the ship.

    3.

There might have been protocol in the shuttles ops' that for the door to close and to stay closed while docked with Destiny it has to be "crewed" . The sphere might not have been able to do it. The senator was also instructed (out of scene, per dialogue) "what to do".

  5. See, i dont think what u have circles as shuttles are the one we see the dude die in on the show. Those looked much smaller than the ones we see there; I think those are bigger transports we havent seen yet. After all, the domes u showed were HUGE when they were on the inside looking out.

Maybe i dont see the BSG vibe becauase I hated that show SO much and am thus trying to ignore it.

The way that the scenes of the shuttle looked, those are the general areas where one of the shuttles were. Perhaps this was an error made by the C.G. guys. This might give them room to make bigger craft, or not. Typical science fiction mistake at worst.

I think the BSG vibe would be the whole "were trapped, doomed and mired in chaos" thing. The reboot B.S.G. was so depressing, everytime I tuned in I needed to schedule a therapy appointment. I have enough of that in my life to enjoy it as entertainment. I sure hope that S.U. doesnt go that route, I also dont want to see another Star Trek:Voyager either. They have more than enough opportunites to go down the middle and make it good. Time will tell.

  6. the shuttles are significantly bigger than puddle jumpers just by going by the size of the cockpit alone.

The cockpit was larger put didnt apprear to be as seprated from the rear of the shuttle which was smaller area that a PJ. Id say there pretty close in size, just different layouts. I'd say the PJ was more utilitarian of design, where the Desinty's shuttle was primarily for short term research.

  7. For a time, George Sohn (Toynami owner) had scrapped the idea of the transforming Beta in favor of a non-transforming plastic Beta. Fan response was not very positive.

I like the transforming Beta also.

Dont get me wrong, I own all three of the available Betas and love them. I just think it would be nice to have a "piggyback" mode only version that was cheap enough to put with all of my fighters (I own a bunch). Also it wouldnt be as expensive to custom paint and mod a "cheapy" one. (I have a paint scheme Im dying to paint up, but not for 230 bux worth of Alpha-Betas!!!).

  8. OK, I understand that now about sponsorship, but w/ Shadow Chronicles, we're not talking about a financially hurting company. We're talking about a company that brings in gobs of money through film, as well as various other product, and real estate. This is a company that has the money to do more than what they produced, with plenty of room to spare, but really did cut corners. Whether or not Matchbox was responsible for pulling out or not, the fact is, it takes two companies at work here. I'd probably want to pull out too, if I saw the way Sentinels was going. I admit, I don't know, nor do I care too much about the exact details of the Matchbox/Sentinels fallout, but with so many excuses that have come from the camp, it all just sounds the same. I'm not blaming Tommy or Steve at all, either. They work for a company, and need to keep a good image for them. So, I'm not attacking them on everything. If they say certain things the company wants them to say, or don't say, that's not on them. There have been times, however, where the excuses for things directed at the staff have been indiscriminantly directed at people that it shouldn't have.

I wonder what would be the excuse if there was not Shadow Rising, or if no toys ever came out again. They're hypothetical situations, but would it be WB's fault for Shadow Rising? Would it be the fan's fault for no more toys? Just asking here.

That does seem to be a re-occuring theme over there. Especially when a customer/fan has a complaint, it seems that things get brought around to the customer/fan not knowing anything on how a movie/show/website/toy is made and they have unrealistic expectations. You can explain some expectations as unrealistic or ridiculous, but that many???

  9. Im wondering, what market were they targeting when they made those Minmei and Lisa dolls? Girls who probably never heard of Robotech or boys who arent ashamed of girly dolls?

I've seen the video they gave to prospective retailers for Rtech toys in 85 before the shows release (came as part of the box set I got, along with sentinels ep 1) . They did specificaly target girls for a fan base due to the idea that there were many female characters in the show that would be considered "role-model" or "heroin" types.

  10. To celebrate the Ford Mustang's 45th anniversary, Lee Iacocca, creator of the iconic car, has unveiled his limited-edition Mustang. This one, designated as No. 5, is one of 45 to be built. It's equipped with a supercharged 550 bhp V8. The special bodywork is handcrafted to completely evoke the classic fastback look. All units will be painted in a special silver color, dubbed "Iacocca Silver."

No. 5 will be on the auction block at the prestigious Barrett-Jackson Auction in Las Vegas, NV, while the other 44 units will be sold exclusively at Galpin Ford in North Hills, CA.

2009 Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Ford Mustang

It doesnt look all that great. Why should we be buying it over a GT500???

  11. you aint kidding... I've got the matchbox miriya figure and oh my god is it ugly to look at :[

it looks nothing like her at all, she doesnt even have long hair

but yeah those figures are still worth a lot just because they are collectibles.

They are? I saw some at the K.B. Toys STILL for sale a few years back for like three bucks during their store closing sale. Mostly that Robotech Masster guy and a Zent' warrior. And no, I didnt buy them.

  12. The Betas are probably the best made "Robotech" item Toynami has made. The toy is good, probably because it's the easiest transforming toy they had to make. There's really not much into it at all, so I'm sure that helps with quality. While they're good on the wallet, they don't leave any choice for those who are looking for stuff to buy. With very little as far as merchandise, it seems more of a decaying franchise. I do like the betas very much, but as far as everything else, there's just nothing worth anything of interest.

True , they are less complicated. I prefer the color scheme that Toynami used of the others too. I wished Toynami had done more with thematerials in the Alphas, especially the Shadows. They show a brittleness that the painted Blue and Greens didnt. Only reason I broke my Blue Alpha was that I was showing it off in sub zero weather(I left it in my car to show a co-worker) and tried to transform it (bad idea). Other than that the only ones Ive had problems with were Shadows. Im not so keen on the Valks, I can never seen to get the gunpod to fit in the hand and make it look like the mecha is actually holding it with a proper grip .

  13. That's exactly the reason why I enjoy Alien3. It brought the Alien back to being a cunning ambus predator where you had to worry if you had ONE to deal with. I guess Aliens is along the same deal as Conservation of Ninjitsu

I think you have to also look at the fact that in the original Alien and Alien 3 you saw a single alien dealing with more or less unarmed foes that they were able to stalk and probably study before the kill. The Marines were able to fight back. If you remember the colonists rearlly werent equipped (or trained) to put up a fight and fought a totally improvised loss. The aliens instincts wouldve been to react as they did to the colonists and to primarily capture as opposed to kill outright. Yeah, being in that plant should have been a wipe out, but those motion trackers going off while the aliens were setting up for the kill might have been the only thing that gave the humans a chance to put up a fight. They did adapt and change to "zerg" tactics in responce. Of course were all probably looking to much into it.

  14. THANKS EXO for the "clown feet" blast - now I can only see the feet as clownish- oh and the red eye now looks like a giant bozo nose to me ~ ! ~

I Krazy-glued the fin and it looks like its holding well. Like the claws a lot. Hate the spots where they snapped the pieces off the spru - shows terrible in this color. There's something cool though about the Inbit space scouts and shadow fighters together, brings back great memories . . .

    ---------

Well - on Mospeada toys, I guess my wallet need a rest anyway. I will pre-order the Shadow Beta but am NOT interested AT ALL in any Shadow Chronicles re-hash, re-do nonsense.

I might want a CMs improved Legioss / Tread combo with the new guns but not going to pay over $100. Maybe the figure set, I'll wait til Jenius posts a review.

The spending freeze will give me time to save for the Fuke ride armor that's a year and a half away . . .

    Darrin,

Sorry to hear about your Shadow Alpha breaking. Mine did the same thing too. I think the problem is in the plastic they primarily used on the Shadow. I think whatever chemical they used to produce the "tint" in the plastic made them brittle as well. Im in the proccess of hunting down a replacement part that is not off of a Shadow and custom matching the shade and glossiness to match. I'm seriously thinking of talking to a friend into making replacement parts out of a more pliable material and custom matching the paint work myself. Of course the problem is time for me, but we will see how it goes. Maybe if we can do it, and do it well enough we might be able to cast custom "moded" parts. Well see.

Another heads up, when working the arms, I suggest using a "Jewlers" screwdriver to bring out the arms during transformation. Youll be able to move the parts without putting pressure on them (I had a warrantied Shadow Alpha when they first came out that broke that way). Luckily, I only use my Shadow for display purposes.

  15. What's there to buy besides revised expensive toys, hard fought over logo merchandise (what their ownership of so many trademarks really go towards these days), and a Sci-Fi Original quality direct to video movie sequel?

The Beta fighters were more than worth thier price to me . In my opinion, based upon the offerings by the other companies out there (price included), the Toynami Beta is the better product. Different strokes for different folks.

  16. At least you're a fan who can take it with a grin. I don't think other fans would find that optimism you have. Question though, since you are more of a Southern Cross/Mospeada fan, does that mean you really don't care about the LAM coming out? If it will be all Macross based, I'm just curious. Last I talked to Tommy Yune, I think they said the movie was like a 98% sure thing, which even the most optimistic production companies that aren't in production will give, but he also said the movie would get done around 2012-2013, which by Mayan calendar time, may be too late.

Actually, the 2007 "project" I was referring to ,mostly, was "Shadow Rising" . I probably shouldve been more direct about that. The point I was trying to make is about H.G. in general. You could plug in any product in the equation, Shadow Chronicles, Shadow Rising , R.:L.A.M., or the most important and reverred Beta fighter, the end result seems to be the same. Hmmmm maybe a new Algebriac proof is in order. The "Agrama effect'? naaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh..........:lol:
