I'm guessing the ammonia discolors the plastics on the casing? Is there something special I need to use for the screen? -

Hey laptop guys, I got a question for you. I've had my Toshiba Qosmio X505 for about a week now. Although used, when I received it the unit looked like it had just been plucked from the factory. After a week of ownership it doesn't look so new anymore; I'm sure it doesn't help that I take this thing EVERYWHERE-home, work, dinner, movies, everywhere. What do you guys use to clean the screen, keyboard, casing, etc? I'm assuming that things like glass cleaner are too harsh for these surfaces? I read somewhere that any sort of household cleaner could cause harm to the finish, and this Qosmio is all shiny-piano-black. What about the keyboard? A vacuum, canned air or something to get the particles out of the keyboard? I'm also still searching for a backpack not just big enough to hold this thing but hold it safely too. Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated, thanks guys... -
That about sums it up for me, also. I've always enjoyed the trend of the "flawed, damaged" superhero stories such as Dark Knight, Toby's Spider Man, Watchmen, etc. but in this movie Bruce Wayne was just pathetic. Nevertheless, I'm going to be seeing it again for the sake of other people and deciphering what Bane was saying...

Bring that damn series over to us and I will forgive any past transgressions of theirs...

But...were you able to understand yourself on that drive home?

Nah of course-puller fans FTW. I might look into that, as those fans are very easy to come across. As for other wiring harnesses, I guess you could look at EZ wiring's products. Or, like 'Red says, 'repro stuff...

Yeah that's how I felt about it too, but I just couldn't bring myself to remember any of it; hell I didn't even get the droid's name right... Ha ha, I haven't giggled that well since the "Editing Room version of Episode 3 ROTS."

What didn't you like about Nemesis? The whole Data/Lor thing is the first annoyance that comes to my mind...

Lol @ Detroit. What you said about the Windstar and Lumina fans interests me though: how did you come to realize that those fans are capable of high flow? Would you happen to know the CFM rating? I ask because I'd like to go with electric fans in my Charger and eliminate the engine fan but the cost of a new fan set up is...prohibitive at this time...

Mike, maybe I've lived with hand-built, scotch-taped desktop units for too long, but this thing is nice. Now, keep in mind that the X505 is an older model from 2011, but if the newer Qosmio's are anything like this I'd recommend it. Reviewers from Amazon and Newegg have nothing but great things to say about these units, asides from the occasional lemon. The only nitpick for the new ones is what we discussed earlier, which was the newer Qosmio's only having a resolution of 1600x900 unless you buy the more expensive, 3D models; this may have changed for the NEXT group of laptops but for 2012 that was the case and it had me looking at ASUS, and....these older Qosmio's. Another thing I might mention is the SSD that comes standard with the X505 but doesn't seem to be available on the newer ones; I may have that wrong so don't quote me on it though. Currently, the OS is on the 64G SSD (small, I know) and everything else is on a standard 500G 7200 RPM secondary drive. Honestly though, I wish you were closer so someone who actually knows about laptops could evaluate it and maybe even put it through its paces, but for the moment, I'm enjoying it, despite the 1.5 hour battery life under moderate use lol... -
Agreed. Why people insist on comparing apples and oranges is beyond me. Should we compare Rises to What's Eating Gilbert Grape while we're at it? The tone of both series is completely different; they are different types of stories altogether...

Yes, although....the shop that's doing the installation says it's anything but painless, ha ha. And I figure since I've gone back into debt with style I'm having an internally regulated alternator installed as well...

I caved and bought this....THING from ebay: http://laptop-infomation-247.blogspot.com/2010/11/toshiba-qosmio-x505-q898-laptop-blu-ray.html I had no idea this machine would be so freaking huge. I don't even know how I'm going to find a laptop back pack big enough to hold it; hell even the power supply rivals the brick of the Xbox 360. On the bright side, canirunit believes that I can run just about any game with high settings, so I guess I'm stoked, lol... -
I've done that my whole life but I'm deaf on my left and only have 40% on my right...

I'm actually heading in the other direction with my Charger. I'm currently having it rewired with a modern, blade type fuse system with 21 available circuits. At the moment I'm installing an electric fuel pump, electric fans (eliminating the engine fan), with plans to install power windows, locks and maybe even an alarm. I guess after owning it for almost 20 years I'm just bored and want to see if I can modernize it a little...

Um...no, dude.

I knew I shouldn't have gone in at 3:45am; I kept nodding off because I had already been up for 12 hours prior to the movie. To make things even better, I got a parking ticket at the mall for "overnight parking." Anyway, I can see why a lot of folks won't like the way they wrapped up Nolan's "trilogy," but ultimately I enjoyed it very much. I'll have to see it again to catch all the stuff I missed while I was asleep...
-
Going at 3:45 in the freaking AM-that's an easy $20 out the door, lol...

The bad guys always looked like "ugly" blue humans to me, so like 'Taks says it's a nod to the original animation. In any case, I wanna thank all of you guys who are posting snippet clips of the series; for those of us who don't have another way of seeing this thing unfold it's great to be able to see what's going on, at least...
