I agree with you, especially when you look at Episode 3's lava duel; all the twirling and showboating was ridiculous. Do you guys remember the one part of the duel where Anakin and Obi spin their light sabers in front of each other for like 10 seconds but don't make any effort to hit each other? It was the dumbest thing I had ever seen, BUT...I see it was necessary to differentiate their style of fighting to what we saw in the OT, because the dueling in those movies looked.....too simple? Lucas sought to stand apart from the OT and, for better or for worse, they did just that with the ludicrous light saber battles, and all of the CGI and all that other BS. However, I still like to think that the different styles showcase different time periods in the history of the Republic and the Jedi Order. Are the fights in the prequels absurd? Yes, but I appreciated the effort to dazzle the viewer with the possibility of what a trained, seasoned Force user could be like in light saber/melee/physical combat...

I would expect fully trained Jedi's to fight as they did in the prequels. Why wouldn't they? The prequels took place during a time when the Republic and the strength of the Jedi order was still at its peak; the fighting styles reflect that era. On the same hand, the styling of combat returned to a more primitive version as it did in FA, since all characters involved are still in light saber dueling 101. Makes total sense to me...

I normally boycott 3D. The first 3 times I saw FA was in 2D, but a chance get together had me see it in 3D and I actually enjoyed it; the dogfighting actually got me lightheaded...

Has anyone picked up DX9'sTyrant? I love Galvatron, and I thought Mania King was incredible, but everything I've seen on Tyrant makes him seem that much better. Curious to see what other MW'ers think... -
I'm so pissed off with you for not agreeing with me and giving me my way that I picked up my Dooku light saber and destroyed my living room. I also demolished my bathroom. Then, I choked the next door neighbor who told me that my 3rd party Transformer was delivered to her instead of me. And then after that another neighbor who has no experience in hand to hand combat was able to defeat me in melee combat. Afterwards, I cursed my dad for being a failure as a father, and then I sat down, asked my pictures of Duke to Go's avatar for guidance, and then cried myself to sleep, just like Kylo Ben/Ren would...

"Finish the script to Chapter 1 by the end of 2015?" They need to finish the entire series by the end of 2015 so we can start watching in January 2016! And I don't know about you guys, but I think they should forget any efforts on the live-action material...

Driver did indeed perform brilliantly, but if we're going to use the OT/original movies as the obvious template for the new material, then I can't help but compare the old villains against the new.

Well of course. Abrams spent a good deal of the movie arguably plaugerizing Episode 4 so he had to have that. In any case, despite my criticism of zero imagination or innovation brought forth by Abrams and his team, I enjoyed this movie thoroughly; it "felt" like Star Wars so much that the blatant stroking of the fanboi in me didn't mind that it was happening in the first place. I will watch this movie repeatedly, as often as I can, and will anxiously await its home release which, knowing my luck, won't be until next Thanksgiving. BTW I thought Anakin Skywalker was bad, but Kylo Ren is the galaxy's new man-b**ch. Someone get him a tampon, stat...

Ok found it: it was the review on RT by Scott Mendelson from Forbes magazine. Hell, even the positive reviews echo the same comments. Again, I knew this was how the movie would play out but I'll probably be fine with it...
