And that's exactly why I was playing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit on the PS1 while everyone else was trying to figure out how to play GT1 (or was it 2?). For me, realism is good and fun up to a point only. If I want to be that realistic about race car driving I'll go out and actually drive a race car. If I'm on one of my consoles, I just want to be able to powerslide, drift or whatever on a whim and not have to worry about the physics of everything. The new GT is gorgeous but I'll stick with NFS or Project Gotham...

It would be worth seeing this thing just to see how accurate the F mode is to the lineart; the more accurate the more difficult/impossible it would be to design a toy. Bring it on...

Well, I figure that if we just hold on to our PS2s then we won't have to worry about compatability. Also, why is having the 'emo chip better than having the 'emu software? As someone else stated, firmware updates will increase the library of older games. I had been planning to hold out for MGS4, but the 'emo thing is making me antsy...

Hmm...There's an update to the first link, which supposively has SCEA refuting the idea of the 60g version disappearing. Official word is still pending apparently...

Classic case of you "not reading the previous posts." Big F had mentioned "bad press" in the UK from fanboys who did not like the designs. My post was merely in response to that particular entry regarding the fanboys. I am hardly a "fan" of the new designs myself, however I find them to be "fine" in what they represent: futuristic, off-world, machine-life forms that are unlike anything ever encountered. As for those who feel that the designs are "too busy," I'll agree on that one. You could almost go blind looking at any movie-bot for more than 2 seconds. Unrecognizable though? Hardly. At least, I didn't have any trouble discerning who was who or what was what. They're trying to portray robotic/mechanical life forms from another planet. Who is to say that their bodies shouldn't appear that way? Only geocentric arrogance would require that these bots have bodies that appeal to human aesthetics. Ultimately, just how much more simple and less "busy" should the designs be? Once again I give you the alternative:

Ok. ONE last question before I make a decision. Emu-PS3's will have emulation that will provide limited compatibility, but if I still have my PS2 then the backward compatibility is a non-issue, correct? I want to get this Emo-PS3 but my "new" Trans-Am needs better tires, lol...

Damn you Keith, I was using you as inspiration to wait until MGS 4 came out to get this thing. The idea of having the emotion engine and not the emu-engine is the dealbreaker. If I go through with this, Resistance will be the game I buy, along with the 5 crappy blu-ray movies they're throwing in. Actually, they can keep the crappy movies. How do we know for sure that the PS3's we buy now are emo and not emu?

Can you guys explain why Emo is better than emu? That might prove to be a dealbreaker for me as well. If the limited compatibility list for 'emu is a problem, am I correct in understanding that the 'emu list will grow online anyway?
