One of my tires on the '99 T/A got slashed the other night. It's gonna be about $800 for me also because it's about that time to change 'em all out anyway. What are you driving man? I'm tellin ya fellas. Once I get that sport-bike I ain't ever looking back. Course, I'll probably be dead anyway so looking won't be an option, but you get my drift...

Oy vey... On that note, I was finally able to track down a twin for my video card. Too bad I lose three out of four of my damn SATA ports with both of the cards installed... -

In my own personal experience I easily spent the same amount on an equivalent "boxed" system as I did with my home-built system. Picking out your own parts usually means that you're picking out the best of everything. I could imagine a retail system skimping on certain things just to keep the costs down. I will say that I would like the security of having technical support but then again I've learned quite a bit since I started out and also that's what you stellar MacrossWorld guys are for, lol. Got another question for you guys: So I've lost two HD's over the last few weeks. After the first failure (my WD Raptor), I decided that I would have Steam installed on an external HD. Well, after the virus fiasco last week I had to format my current drive. However, when I got everything up and running I found that all of my Steam game data was lost. My achievements are still recognized on Steam's online services, but my save data is all gone. So I'm wondering why my save data would be lost when I have Steam installed on an external HD that has nothing to do with my routinely failing internal drives? -

Lesson taken guys. The world of mal-ware has advanced itself and I need to be more aware. Ah those long gone, worry-free tentacle porn days... -

Ok guys, thanks for the suggestions. Based on the wonky performance of my system and the google/IE searches that kept taking me to random sites it was obvious that trying to stream that episode of Southland must've infected my machine. I just finished reinstalling everything and I hope I don't have to deal with this again. The irony is that during the heyday of my porn/tentacle sex/internet days and no virus protection I never had a problem. Now that I'm strictly on the 'net for message boards, mail, and t.v. shows while being loaded to the gills with anti-virus protection I'm getting hit with viruses every other week. Maybe I'm using the wrong anti-virus programs? I liked running with AVG and Spy-Bot S&D; do you guys have any better ideas? -

It was too fast-I couldn't read it. The blue screen flashed and then it just went back to trying to reboot itself. Someone had suggested testing the RAM but I wasn't able to considering the system wouldn't boot up... -

Good Lord it's good to see you guys. I've been without a pc for like, two days, lol. Anyway I was streaming an episode of Southland but I paused it and forgot about it. When I came back to the machine I saw that it was stuck trying to reboot itself, but it kept blue-screening and crashing right after the "Windows XP" logo screen. It then proceeded to keep trying to reboot itself. I tried booting in safe mode, reinstalling my boot file, reinstalling my RAM, GPU, etc. Friends in the know told me that possibly my 'mobo or CPU was fried. I tried everything again once the machine had cooled down just in case it was a heat issue but no dice. On that note I reinstalled/re-pasted my CPU and everything else, put it back together and now here I am?! I'm hoping that some of you guys can give me some sort of idea what might've gone wrong, or what can I look for if and when something like this happens again. What exactly was the system doing blue screening, crashing and then trying to reboot itself? Jesus without a pc I didn't know what to do, ha ha. Any input will be appreciated guys-thanks in advance! Specs in case it matters: > Mainboard : Asus P5N-D > Chipset : nVidia nForce 750i SLI SPP > Processor : Intel Pentium Dual-Core @ 2933 MHz > Physical Memory : 4096 MB (4 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM ) > Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 > Hard Disk : WD (320 GB) > Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3 > DirectX : Version 9.0c (May 2009) -
Eh, if Star Wars could lose in '77 to Annie Hall, Saving Private Ryan in '98 to Shakespeare in Love, you can't help but notice the trend. The only movies that typically do well in Oscar type awards shows are the artsy-fartsy, non-violence oriented, approved by man-hating feminists movies. With the categories that it won, it would've been better if Inception had just been left out of that sham of an awards show completely...

SOC GX-58 Earth Defense Force Flagship Andromeda
myk replied to Kyp Durron's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Big wide and beautiful sculpting is alright by me. I could imagine breaking those antennas off but oh well. As for color, I never liked the ghostly, bright color of the ship in the cartoon (if that's what's considered accurate), so I'm ok with that too. The price? Yeah well... -
This is an interesting development. Instead of having to visit MW and LS1tech I can just hang out here for automotive keyboard pissing contests...

SOC GX-58 Earth Defense Force Flagship Andromeda

Thanks for taking the time to put in some detailed criticism of this piece. While I agree that the randomly failing electronics on your edition is completely unacceptable, I think that for the price of $250 I could easily live with the other issues that you listed. I don't equate metal content with quality or long-term desirability so that isn't a major issue with me also. Factor in the idea that I'm past the point of my life where I want to build models and just want to enjoy a static display out of the box, this Bandai piece is really the only way to go. If price remains a problem, I can justify it buy looking at all the high-dollar Yamato Variable Fighters that have come out over the years-some were well built, many others not so, yet I and countless fans still bought them up so I could let the Andromeda's shortcomings slide. I hope you can exchange that ship for one with electronics that work properly... -

Just keep Katee Sackhoff out of it and it might stand a chance...

Yeah I was thinking about that myself. I always advise people to stay away from the 1st generation of anything. What I'm thinking about is price on their 4G plans though. Someone told me that these plans would be VERY expensive, and suggested that early adopters would get the best deals because, much like the last 10 years, cell phone plans will only continue to rise... -
You really should try the books. Personally, I felt some of the movies were very poor representations of the written story, editions 4&5 for example. Trust me on this, find some time to read the story...

I've been due for an upgrade for over a year. Even if you don't use one now there'll be another along shortly. So what phone are you thinking about? -

Checked the site, but I didn't catch whether 4G was up and running yet. I still do live in San Diego so when and if it comes up, if it isn't up already, at least I'll be able to use it. At this point I'll wait for the Thunderbolt to come out and make my final decision. Rumors say that Verizon's 4G plans won't have unlimited bandwidth which could affect my decision also. If I don't go with that I'll probably go with the Droid X. I won't get either one though if I feel that my internet experience will be severely diminished by using just a smartphone instead of my desktop for internet needs. I really hope this works out-I want to ditch my cable company like no other... -

I'm in the same boat. I have a Voyager and I'm looking for my next piece of hardware... Ok, so I can't seem to find any information on Verizon's 4G, which leads me to believe it's not ready yet. Does anyone know if it's up or not? Verizon would have you think it's here and NOW, most are telling me maybe a year from now or so; Verizon's website sure isn't any help. If this T-bolt is "all that" and 4G is ready I'm sure I can give my cable company the big goodbye... -

Wow thanks for all of the information. Sounds like I really could give my cable connection the boot, then. Asides from being forced into mobile-versions of certain things, what else am I losing if I were to use just a phone for 'net matters? -

Wow, ok. What if I wanted to take my PC out of the equation entirely? Then the tethering wouldn't be an issue and my only issue would be how my internet capabilities would be affected by just using a phone for internet matters. Is that feasible or am I dreaming? -

You guys obviously know about current phones and what they can do, so I gotta question. I'm sick of paying $80+ a month for cable internet, so I was wondering if I could just disable the cable by just using a smart phone for my internet needs. I don't game online anymore-the only thing I use the intra-webs for is mail, youtube, occasional facebook crap, downloading/viewing/printing guitar tabs, looking at naked women and obviously message boards like 'Macrossworld. Could I truly replace the cable company with one of these phones everyone's always nutting themselves over or would I be seriously affecting my internet capabilities? If so, what phones do you recommend? Also, cost for using a smartphone isn't a problem. I already pay $90 a month with Verizon and getting unlimited web access is only $10 more-a bargain if I can ditch the $80 cable bill... -
If I had a handgun I'd keep one there but I don't, so I keep a loaded Super Soaker pistol there instead...
