  1. George you freaking amateur, THIS is how you incorporate "NO" into your movies:
  2. Makes sense, it just sounded weird, especially if it's voiced like "NO?" as if he's asking a question. I probably just heard it wrong-I was simultaneously browsing my Erica Campbell picture collection and was completely distracted...
  3. I'm going to step in after having finished ROTJ to say that the changes that everyone has been lamenting weren't so bad. For example, if no one had mentioned the Ewok blinking-thing I never would have even noticed it; IMO the way it was rendered looked natural to me and it certainly would to anyone except the pickiest of fans. Besides, the Ewoks are a moot point when Carrie Fisher is looking pretty. What other changes were there? Probably a lot, but again they weren't enough to detract from the experience. Question for those of you who have watched ROTJ: does Vader initially say "No" as a question? Lol, it sounded like he says "No?" and then the more melodramatic "NO!" takes place when he finally tosses Palpatine. That whole bit was....peculiar but it wasn't the deal breaker that people including myself were saying before I managed to pick the set up and actually experience it. System specs just for the hell of it: 52" rear projection, PS3 via HDMI, JVC receiver with 7.1 and DTS, etc. Nothing special but the movies shined anyway; I might get an LED or a plasma screen and possibly update my speakers later. I've been watching 24 from start to finish the last few months, I'm going to mix that up with SW b-ray for a while...
  4. I'd have to disagree, although conditionally. We don't KNOW if Yamato elected to use sub-par quality plastic/materials in this matter, but if you take into consideration toys like my original 1/55 Takatoku VF-1S that still perfectly ratchet, click and do whatever like it did back in the 80's to this very day, it's clear that toy was built properly. I'm pretty sure that with today's technology companies know EXACTLY the type of materials they're working with, potential problems, etc. A toy that breaks on its own just a few years out the gate begs to raise questions about the decisions Yamato made regarding materials; at the very least it's still unacceptable...
  5. Don't feel so bad. I don't know about you, but I'm not looking at my wallpaper long enough to realize just how ordinary my desktop is...
  6. I used to think about how odd it was that Vader never realized who Leia was until ROTJ. Despite the fact that they were in close proximity to each other on the Death Star, and that he even tortured her to some unknown extent, no one was the wiser as to who Leia was and what Vader was to her and what possibilities she may have held. So yeah, unless you've at least "made your own little step into a larger world", as Obi put it, you don't register in the Force...
  7. 22 freaking days 'till the premiere-waiting sucks...
  8. Forget George Lucas, the Black Star Warrior is the one who truly raped our childhood...
  9. Oooh man, I see a butt, I'm too young to see this!
  10. I have to agree. The idea of a Federation ship struggling to get home was a unique peril that kept me interested. Their improvised 'tech made it too easy for them to get out of just about every problem, but I don't remember a heavy reliance on time travel or other weak plot devices....I think, I dunno it's been awhile, lol. I used to fantasize how much more ass they would've kicked if a Sovereign or at least a Galaxy class ship had been out there, but the diminutive Intrepid class just made the journey that much more trying. It's a good little ship!
  11. Okay, have any of you guys read the short story by Peter Watts called "The Things?" It tells the events of the 1982 movie from the Thing/Alien's point of view. I know it sounds really silly but it was amusing to pretend seeing the movie unfold through an "alien" point of view. I suggest checking it out: http://clarkesworldmagazine.com/watts_01_10/ Depends on what material you're reading. There are some comics/books that have various twists on what happened after the events of the '82 movie. For example if you read the short story I posted a link to, or play the video game, there are some musings as to what happened after the camp went up...
  12. I always assumed that Hayden was so powerful, what with his high Midichlorian count, that when he forced choked Natalie he irreparably damaged her own midichlorians to the point where she would appear to be medically healthy but still dying; this is assuming of course that non-Jedi/Sith even have midichlorians to begin with-someone correct me if I'm wrong. Of course, there's the CGI medical droid's assessment that she just "lost the will to live..."
  13. Dude she's gorgeous. I "just" discovered her like a week ago, too. She has this one taped video performance of "A little more love" and to me, even though the taping is like 32 BC it's one of the most passionate, sexy and soulful performances I've ever seen that easily trumps the mainstream trash of today. With the new Thing, SW on blu-ray and old clips of Olivia I'm reminded that the 70's & 80's weren't a complete waste of time...
  14. I feel the same way, although not as much with Insurrection and Enterprise, the series. At that point I felt the entire franchise had not only "jumped the Tribble" but ate it and dumped it out the other end. On another note, I miss Q; shame they weakened him much like the Borg with that whole Q-baby thing...
  15. Don't get me wrong, I'm anxiously awaiting this movie. So anxious in fact, that I had my first Thing-related nightmare last night...
  16. "Oh Anakin (with a warm smile), to be angry is to be human..." Ha, I've heard of supportive women but this is ridiculous...
  17. Then this movie is doomed to fail! People are going to watch this and go-where are the cell phones? Why aren't they using google to research the monster? Stuff like that; also, what we've seen in the movie failed to convey an 80's vibe to me. Not that I expected to see leg warmers or a jogging suit on the Thing mind you...
  18. Well in Yamato's case we've been dealing with this stuff for years-reason why I gave it up a long time ago...
  19. I think Duketogo noted this when AOTC first came out, but watching Hayden confess to Natalie what he had just done, having murdered that lot of Tusken Raiders and their families, complete with rising Empire music in the background as Hayden revealed his capacity to feel jealousy and hatred, was very powerful stuff-I'd say one of the best, most defining moments in the saga. It's good to see this again...
  20. Dammit I'll go have to look at mine also-I've only transformed it once since I bought it, too. I don't suppose there's a spontaneous breakage thread on the stablemate 1/60 '21, is there?
  21. I'm glad I wasn't there with her, but she hadn't seen Empire yet because she was watching them in order. Actually, I don't know if she ever got around to watching the other movies-she handled fantasy like Harry Potter and Eragon, I was responsible for sci-fi like Star Wars & Trek, lol. As for Lucas having the entire story already thought out in his head, ultimately it's an irrelevant point; even if he KNEW where he was supposed to go there's no way Hollywood would allow him to plot out his story they way he saw fit, especially when he didn't really have any credibility ($$$$$$) behind him yet. If there's one thing I don't get it's the few continuity errors over the course of the saga. Ah well, time to get back to it, I'm about to watch Hayden and Natalie rolling around in the grass-this is where I'm going to sneak guitar practice in lol...
  22. See, now I wish I could have discovered Anakin's fate by way of chronological story progression too. A friend of mine was lucky enough to have (well, unlucky in a sense lol) to have seen the movies in order, with no prior exposure to Star Wars. When she went to see Episode 3 and saw Anakin being christened Darth Vader she claims that she screamed in her chair, "OMG HE'S DARTH VADER?!" much to the dismay of the audience. Lol...
  23. Lol, I said I'd be "disgusted" by any such musical choices but, judging on the choice of the leading lady as well as the looks of the cast, you can be sure they've designed this movie to be youth/mainstream friendly. They'll probably show the Thing trying to assimilate an I-pad or something...
  24. Lol, right about that. Seeing how this movie is from the makers of a zombie movie I'd be disgusted but not surprised to hear techno, trance or some other similarly out of place fast rock/death metal tracks in the movie...
