  1. I agree with Jasonc. Either really do something with the franchise, reboot it, or actually make new stuff that is new new, not something borrowed, or let it rest in peace. All they seem to be really doing is killing time from what I have seen. And keep promising stuff but never coming up with the goods. And slowly loosing people's interest. When you promise things you have to eventually put up or people will move on. In the end HG own actions are slowly killing the RT franchise..... I think HG is going in a downards trajectory. Sure they have tried to pull them selves out of it with RTSC and a few other things but it is still slowly on the way downwards. But otherwise the trajectory is going down.
  2. It is not a HG hating bandwagon. I just think it would be a hard sell to release never before heard of music. That was not used for a reason in the orginal series. When I listen to a soundtrack of a series I can usually picture where it was used in a series so I can relate to it. I would find it hard to relate to it. I mean it would be better if they released it as a B sides type album. But I would not buy it. And as someone said there was probably a reason why it was not used. I do find it quite comical what I am hearing out of the RT fans say about Macross, and how it is interesting logic of how they came to think that way. I mean i have been a die hard fan of RT in my day. But have got heaps of different interests these days. But respect what it was. But have needed to expand and grow. It sounds like some of these people are holding on to the romance of what it was to them when they are younger. I must admit that, that is attactive but You must move on. there are some TV shows that didn't live up to my youthful memeories, such as the orginal BSG. I tried to watch it just recently but couldn't. It didn;t live up to my old memories. The main reason is the debate of why HG is not releasing the licensing for the Macross distribution. Which is the core of this whole debate. I have a headache and am off to bed....
  3. Just got a good laugh on facebook, at the Robotech page. It seems now that RT fans are claiming that Macross Fans are mecha based while RT are story based. This is getting more amusing the more I look into it. they seem to be using it like a big self promotion page. A page to show how little they do. And for a CD to release unknown songs from a series done over 25 years ago would only sell well if it still had the big fandom. I wouldn't buy it. As they say there is a reason why those songs/music was not realeased. I guess the few thousand fans they have will buy it. Before it becomes a torrant. And they will claim it a big success to the only people who actually visit there page. HG is slowly destroying what is left of RT because of lack or any real action. They have to do a reboot for it survive and it has to be all there's no re-dubbing and rewriting of stuff that has come before. Mind you so many of us has already said this. i also think the new stuff is to try and sell all the Mosepade toys that they have left. I know that you can get the MP Betas at BigBadToystore for about %50 of normal cost, so they aren't selling that well. I quit my jaberring...
  4. Your right, they belong together. My walet is going to hurt. But they are about the prce of one. ANd if they have another sale soo. Will get Gamlins'
  5. Is teh VF22 worth getting? AM thinking of getting the Max and Milla duo, or it worth just getting the Gamelin one?
  6. Wow that update on the RT facebook page is riverting. Am thinking that maybe next time I buy an external HD I'll post it to show people that I am serious about keeping my data safe.....
  7. lol....so easy to get off topic, but back to the comedy of errors call the HG Robotech debate
  8. weither I am serious or not is up to you to find out. But if you actually read the novel it would be up to you to judge........ now back to the topic HG & Robotech Debate....
  9. Actually Starship troopers was based on Enders Game universe which was written decades ago, and one of the first sci-fi novels that I read. Get your facts straight. I know that marvel did an adaption of it recently............ But check into stuff first
  10. 1 x VF-25G Tornado Pack from hobby search 17-03-2011 never ordered from them before 1 x Macross Triangle Frontier from YesAsia 16-03-2011 1 x Macross Frontier - the false songstress Blu-Ray from YesAsia 15-03-2011 that's all for now. been quite scince moving house....
  11. I agree that not everything is orginal anymore, and there are to many influences these days. But I agree with an old friend from years ago, there are only so many plots they can use for movies and the such. But politics and corporations are through all shows these days. And seems to be the norm, BSG has it and so does SG1. I think it is to add a bit of realism as these things are part of ordinary life. enough of my ramblings....
  12. Well it is starting to get quite comical. And gone on to long. HG has a hard time to be creative as they haven't really created anything from scratch. And most of there stuff is all borrowed. Except for parts of the RTSC and hydonites sort of remind me of different robots in the past. Sort of like highly evoloved terminators where all life is the enemy......... If anyone from HG is reading this. I think the only way RT will survive is to be original and with a reboot and let Macross go. This debate seems to be getting nowhere. And trying to create you own everything and not depend on previous creations from other people. And the claims there is more fans for RT then Macross is stupid. It has nothing to do with fans. You have to start releasing new material, and stop with the promises of stuff that never seems to happen. Other wise RT will disapear and HG will be thought of a company that blocked a success franchise that was never there's from getting it's proper release. And from what I have been reading on YouTube and other sites HG haters are starting to grow. ANd it all has to do with blocking Macross, with no real reason other then greed......And the blind fans who follow RT. There is more stuff out there then RT....And learn to accept that RT was created to fill a time slot. I do not hate RT I like it. But I dislike people who seem to think it has to be one way or the other. geeze am I going on today
  13. So let me get this right, RT fanatics are saying that Macross is ripping off a series that ripped it off? Talk about an oximoron comment. I mean that would make no sense to a normal person. Macross has always been about Music and mecha. As for Frontier taking of RTSC. Um... let me see, Frontier. New Characters, new mecha designs and weapons and enemy and story, and combat that is more then just a few quick glimpses of mecha..Use the same Macross theme trough all series.etc. Um..RTSC, Use previously designed Mecha, and for new ones. Just beef up old ones. Rewrite original ending to so called epic story line and screw up all the previous story. Get rid of characters that people would expect to see and change main characters apperances so they are not recognised......And most of all try and show how that most concepts are ripped off. I can only say, that you can not accuse someone of ripping off an idea if the whole concept of what you have created has not been concieved at all by you, and the so call thing that is ripping you off is made by the orginal creators that you ripped off to begin with. As for the CGI bit nearly all anime uses it and Macross zero came way before... What a complete Oximoron......... And the new stuff looks like they re-using the stuff that they have already created for RTSC so not much expense or creativty used there. Story already created and the CGI from RTSC Also how many Japanese would of actually watched RT from what I heard that they coudl not market it over in Japan. I mean try and sell a product already over there again...More Oximorons.... And someone has said. All Robotech is about the Earth getting invaded again and again. ANd there is so many anime and stories out there like that. Next they will be saying that Starship Troopers was a rip off from Robotech...(Completely forget that it is from Enders Game) enough of my rambling
  14. I think they want more then just a slice of the fincial pie, they I would say want all right to toys' models and everything that has Macross. And claim it is there's and they improved it over the orginal creators. And would most likely want rights to all the character/mecha designs to make sure it is theres.. The list would go on. And why would Bandai and BW jump on the band wagon with them. They have there own distribution companies, around the world and spent there own money creating these new properties. Why just give it away to a company that is probably not willing to pay anything to them for distribution rights and has been trying to block there product from going out. When they still make a decent packet in Japan for Macross, and the internet shops that sell Macross items. And if HG was really serious about the distribution rights of Macross, the would go after every internet shop that sells Macross goods. And after everyone who has brought and imported them. I am not a RT hater. Am just sick of the RT fans who don't listen. I do have one bug bear against the RT fans when they go on about Karl Maleck being a genious for making those 3 series into one. A fact is that he orginally only wanted to bring Macross over, but it was a few episodes to short. SO he had to create RT. He did it because he was told to fill the time slot, not to be creative. And the "product" as Tommy puts it is over 20 years old and has had nothing new or creative added to it for years. I am starting to think HG is just a tax write off. You actually have to produce product to make money. And for the new animation from HG. A picture from the Simpsons comes to mine when they showed how the "Itchy and Scratchy" movie comes to mind. All those animators under armed guard and forced to make it. Enough of my rambling on.....
  15. I agree it would depened on who you ask, but I like Macross and Robotech. But prefer Macross. As for the liars bit from RT.com and RTX. I think they need a life. People can be fans of many things. And I think people are more talking about why is HG not really doing anything and why are they holding on to a license that really has no refernce to what they are producing now I checked out that forum, and it waqs funny how even people on there were saying that there was no continuity with RTSC as it basically re-wrote the ending the the RTNG and go rid of a lot of characters and had absolutely no mention of Macross or the SC parts.. But as well as maybe someone else should be handling the Franchise, and they mention TMNT and a few others. But someone put in saying let WB do all the start up work and let HG finish it. ANd that is the first tiem I have been to that site in ages. and it looks like it has not changed for quite a while.
  16. I don't think it that we have hope. It's that for year HG have gone on about new stuff and nothing has come out. And HG aren't really contributing to RT at all except for BS. And the main reason of this topic is the licensing for ditribution of Macross and how HG hold the one in the US and how they are stopping any release of the newer series to the USA and further. On teh run have to go to work
  17. From what I am reading, it nearly sounds like the death coughs of Robotech......It is vainly trying to hold on but has no real life yet. I wonder how long the BS from HG will last an how much longer even the fans care. That's my 2 cents worth anyway
  18. It's been 2 years scince I have had a chance to really build anything, so my skills are a bit rusty, but here is my latest, VF-0S. Still have a bit more to practice with the water slides before I am back to what I used to be. And no where are good as some of the other models that have been shown. Also figuring out the airbrush use properly...Am loving it though.
  19. A sidestory would not fix it. In my opinon. It needs a full reboot. ANd they are trying to mesh to shows that have nothing to do together. A garland vs a Biroide. Amazing they didn't try that with a Veritech vs a Birode to begin with. My mistake...the series were never made toegther...lol
  20. I don't think Robotech will be lucky and have a reboot. The runners at HG are trying to hold on to the stuff done in the 80's which is slowly killing RT. But the only way franchises survive is by continual reboots. All the succesful ones such as Transformers, Gi-joe, Star Trek, BSG, TMNT and Gundam (which has now gone back to the UC which started it all. I admit I am enjoying Unicorn and can't wait until the next episode) to name a few. Hoping that they can re-start an old franchise with no new ideas or works will not work. Most kids these days do not want to watch a series that is 25 years old. Because quite a few want the newer animation. And I have trouble getting younger fans to watch the orginal Macross. I agree let someone else handle it, or just let it end itself. It has no future and the continuation of hold on the Macross distribution rights make them look foolish in the end. But hey they will argue differently about how much life RT has. But I can't see it. Not anymore. I admit when I heard about RTSC I was excited and was hoping for more from them. RT in truth is an American Franchise. and would never do well in Japan as they have all seen the orginals and probably do not want to see an American Cut & Paste of there orginal series. They should just completely Americanise it and change it with the animation. And change is allways good look at hpw BSG has gone, and they also has a spin of with Capria. But I agree with Kieth let WB take control and see what happens from there. End of line..lol
  21. It is the way that it should be, But HG still see some money in it, and are trying to cash up on the newer Macross Series and toys. Because they are not trying with the other 2 series they played with. Macross still has earning money. ANd they want some of that. But in the end, Nothing will really happen from HG, no new series or anything like that. Just trying to run a company on ideas and no output. I wonder how many more years it will go on for. I wonder how many more cons they can go to and saying nothing before people loose interest in it. You can only do so much of that before it starts to test people.
  22. I think a different Animation style would be the way to go. Like Ben 10 or "The Batman" TV series. Get it away from it's orginal Anime roots would be the way I would go. Then it would have a future. But hanging on to the old would not work. And they would most likely have a toy arm as well. Most animated series seem to have a set of toys that they try an market it with to.
  23. I think HG is just prolonging RT death...Or maybe they hand it over to a real company that has experiance with making new Anime such as Bandai or BW and they should just get back to Real estate. yeah it was funny in that clip that they were looking at the laptops more then trying to show the new stuff. They might be reading this right now..lol (I know that I am being evil with that last comment) my additional 2 cents (one day I'll get to a full dollar)
  24. yeah a full reboot will save RT. And they can keep the same fundimantals. But changed the approach. Away from Macross. But that will not happen in the long or short term I think. Promises and no give is the HG story RTSC could of been a great stepping stone. But No....
  25. I just saw that clip, and it was a whole lot of nothing. I also wished it showed how many people were there. it did not look like much as there were front seats available. Tommy went on about old photo's and trying to if I heard correctly the REF stories for the future, and I would say books not animation from what he has been saying. More RT comics out there for people if they want them. But I think it will be awhile in comming. Be interestig to see what pans out. And on the other flip side. I checked out some more youtube vids, and watched one call Robotech 3D which was the opening to the Macross VFX PS game. But I was more interested in what was being said under neath it. It seemed to have another HG & RT debate, and it was not nice. But what cracked me up the most was about how many people were claming that Macross Zero, Macross 7 and the other series were rip off's of RT. I just can't understand that logic. It to me sounded like that these people refused to see that it was another's creation. Others tried to debate it calmly but most of the RT uber fans just kept on saying rip-off. Which was odd as even these people accepted that Macross and the others were chopped and changed to make one series called Robotech. They even sounded like they though Macross has ripped off the RT designs. Wish I could understand that logic. Maybe some of them are part Tarded...lol I think this debate will go on for a long time. With no real winners. And for RT introducing anime to the rest of the world. I think they have forgotten Starblazers (which only the names were changed and not the story), G-Force, Speed Racer, Astroboy, AKIRA and quite a few others that I have propbably missed. I think they should wake up. They have may of helped to introduce Anime but it would be a big call to say it was all because of us that you now have anime in USA, Austrailia..etc. But it was in the 90's that more anime started to show up with no name changes and original soundtracks. I remember the first Guyver series on VHS. And people got more interested. I know as I have gotten older I have found more and newer series to watch. But I would say Star Blazers and the Quest to Iscandar was what first started to get me interested in Anime. And with the internet now we have heaps to watch. And thanks to the internet I learned more about Robotech and then Macross. And I prefer Macross. I have good memories of RT as a kid. But I grew to like the basis for the series. Macross better. But one issue I think is the uber RT fans that refuse to budge there way of thinking. Time to grow up and see that there is more anime out ther RT is great for what it was and to accept that there will not be anymore animated adventures of Rick Hunter to continue his adventure unless he looks completely different as HG don't own the likeness of Hikaru just the right to distribute Macross in name only. Not concepts and the such. And all new mecha (but some how will look closely like Macross). But will that never happen. (I know that I will get flamed for that last comment but, it's how I see it). As Macross is the key to the start of Robotech. And without it they would not of have the start of it. And that is the part of the series that people liked the most. And the one that is most remembered as RT, as the other 2 parts are not thought of as much. But as I said before the only way for RT to survive is to create completely new concepts and seperate it from the old series. Or try a reboot and redo it there own way. But the original series is now over 25 years old and has a part in American Anime history, but will have no future if they do not expand instead of trying to hold onto what they have. And to stop letting the fans control it. Enough of my walfling on.
