1. What's your dream toy? A toy (or a toy line) you'd love seen made?

*keep this fantasy in line with modern manufacturing tech. In other words, no, I want a real working Valkyrie or x-wing.

but I always thought a line of in scale fighters to say the smaller cohvettes would be possible. I think back to action fleet and always considered it a missed opportunity, how hard would it really have been to make a properly scaled and proportioned millennium falcon?

    Imperial Shuttle

    Millenium Falcon

Rebel Blockade Runner (never bought it because of the so screwed up scale, if you can even call it that)

    AT-AT walker (again...wtf)

Star Destroyer ( think this wasn't official retailed though).

No argument, I love action fleet, but like you said, certain ones could have been properly scaled but never were, like the falcon and imperial shuttle without to much trouble.

I would have killed for a properly scaled blockade runner. I wonder how large that would have been.

also I always thought that a FIX dendrobium would be really kick ass.

There is a Collectors Series Blockade Runner. I don't know what the scale is but its almost 2 feet long. It lights up and has sound :) Pretty sweet. I put an ink wash on mine and it looks tight.

  2. I'm coming out for Anime Expo from Denver and can attend the weekend before or after possibly. Otherwise, I can't make it. I'm not sure if very many others are planning the same..

If it was the same weekend as AX, I would 100% be there :)

Edit: Now that I think about it, I would like the weekend before so I can spend the 4th with my family.

  3. How is the gunpod attached to the arm of Max's battroid?  Did they copy the peg used in the Yamato's?

    371620

Not quite. The Yamato's use grip shaped impressions in the forearms with a small peg in the middle. These use a slot in just the right forearm with a slat on the gun for holding the GU-11. Copy Yamato? Not even close.

Now, did they copy Bandai's 1/72 HCM? Yes, exactly :)

  4. Okay, I posted this on ToyboxDX also and got a translation :)

"Macross: Showing on 25 TBS/MBS Stations Across the Country Every Sunday Starting at 2 PM!" "Produced by Mainichi Broadcasting and Tatsunoko Productions. Designed by Big West and Studio Nue."

The list at right is of television stations.

    Thanks to Matt Alt :)

  5. what size is that? Is it 8.5 x 11 inches, cause it looks like it was taken out of a comic book. it may have been a fold out, but i couldn't say from where.

    370955

Its blank on the back and off the top of my head the dimensions are about 14 x 20. Not from anything, definately a poster :)

  6. areaseven: Agreed. People, its a dead horse, stop beating it.

jenius: Its actually official. Check out the Gakken logo on the lower right of the box. It was released in Singapore, but the logo and the odd pilots are definately not Mospeada. I'm guessing that like Henshin Robo, these were just repackaged Gakken toys for distribution is a secondary market.

I really dig that Legioss Soldier image on the front :)

  7. SDF TV (8/10) Awesome story, animation is spotty at times.

DYRL (7.5/10) Awesome animation, story is pretty dumb

FB2012 (7/10) Awesome animation, no story, good songs

Mac Plus (10/10) Awesome animation, awesome story

Mac 7 (7/10) Spotty animation, story drags at first

Mac D7 (7.5/10) Awesome animation, okay story

Mac 7 Movie (6.5/10) Animation could be better for a motion picture, story kinda boring, good songs

Mac Zero (6/10) Mix of CG and cel animation poorly executed, story pretty lame.

Mac 2 (6.5/10) Spotty animation, weak story

Overall, I'd say Macross is 65% collecting (books, toys, posters, etc) and 35% the animation.

  9. Yes, I have the Macross Special Vol1 & 2 also in LD

I never see the VHS version, but here in my lap, have a picture of the Macross Special Vol1. Maybe, you can tell me if the art is different.

The artwork in this LD is made by Shouji Kawamori himself.

    Edit:

    Here is the pic

Do you have a cleaner scan of that, it looks really cool from what I can see in the picture

    355875

I agree, its an awesome drawing. Looks like it was a pencil sketch for a hanken cel that was never produced. Well, at least I have never seen it produced. Some of the artists on here might want to take a stab at it and make a completed hanken version.

  10. what about the rubber erasers in the for sale id thread? just as ugly and not as shiny  .

the multi colored boot sdf is pretty funny to.

    355871

I actually have some of those :) I'll scan some more ugly Valks in tonight :)

  11. This is why the Takatoku "variable" Battroid Silver is the fugliest toy. Just so you believe me, I have included the instructions to show that this is how it looks in fighter mode :) The orange version is made of eraser quality rubber and came in the Takatoku Macross Super Robo Set. Is it any wonder Takatoku went bankrupt?

Oh, and Madarake.co.jp has two versions for $100 each!

  12. Okay, here are my Fugliest Macross Toy Ever candidates: Top left, vinyl Takatoku VF1J Armored Battroid; top center, Ohsato rubber VF1J Battroid; top right, Ohsato plastic "Keshigomu" VF1J Battroid; bottom left, Takatoku VF1J "variable" Battroid Silver; and a vinyl Takatoku VF1J Battroid.

  13. Its only about 6 inches tall and only the arms move.

There are only 2 fuglier toys.  The small Taka vinyl Battroids and the gold and silver Taka metallic "variable" Valkyries :)

    354900

I always thought that takatoku vinyl glaug was as ugly as it could get

    355298

Oh! forgot about that one, yes its super fugly, but you havent seen the Takatoku gold metallic variable Valkyrie in fighter mode I'll bet :)

I'll get some scans (my digi cam is broken) tonight and scans of its retarded rubber half brother thats kept hidden in the basement from the Super Robo Case :)
