1. Since this is turning into a piracy debate, I have to wonder how many of you who are against posting high rez line art have bootleg copies of or have downloaded Macross DYRL, 2012, Macross 7 and Macross Zero?

Those of you who do should get off your high horse, because unless you own the original Japanese releases, you are guilty of piracy. From your perspective, I don't see the difference between posting high rez images and downloading Macross Zero.

I know a couple people here do own original versions of all the Macross releases, but the vast majority do not.

Or maybe you're just mad because you spent hundreds of dollars on a Macross library and someone wants access to whats in those books for free and its gonna drive down prices on your collectibles?

  2. I thought it was official.

The HG crew went to the manufacturer in China who had the Matchbox molds sitting outside of their factory, exposed to the elements for 9 years. The molds were corroded and unusable and Toynami didnt want to spend money making new ones.

They were just the Matchbox/Playmates/Harmony Gold plastic destroids with supposedly higher details paint jobs and stickers. No official confirmation of why they were pulled, with rumors or issues with the molds to lack of interest.

  3. Somebody on RT.com said that the word from Toynami is that they're completely retooling and still expecting to make a 1/55 transformable Beta toy.

There's nothing but misinformation over at RT.com, whether it's what Nightmare tells you or anyone else.  The last place you should look for anything concrete on either The Shadow Chronicles or the happenings of Toynami is RT.com.

Hehe, which is it? You either believe rt.com or you dont, cant have both :D

(Just had to give you a hard time ;) )

Honestly, things change all the time with Toynami so I'd say theres no way to know either way at this point.

  4. Once again, the vast majority of people who own a garland are not having issues, so obviously the problem isn't universal and yet yamato is still stepping up and offering a redesign at no cost.

    411799

    Yet.

The way its worked in the past with the YF19 first edition and VF11B for example is that it started with just a few members posting a complaint and slowly every week new members were posting that the same breakage was happening and pretty soon it was an epidemic. There are a lot of broken Yamatos out there that are not due to mishandling. I'm sure you will be hearing from a lot more members by the end of the summer.

Now that we have US support though, at least we can hopefully get replacement parts this time around.

  5. I really never understood why those kinds of figures were called "super posable" when they have... what... four points of articulation? And even then the number of poses you can put them and not have them fall over can be counted on one hand. *shrugs*

    411613

    18 points of articulation.

These toys rock, nice find agr33.

  6. A company called Epoch Toys distributed these in Japan in for Toynami.

Maybe Toynami released the Alpha superposeables in Japan?

    :)

  7. So I used to have Valkyrie toys at my desk and I was never ashamed about it.  One problem I did encounter was that people would have their kids in and they would see toys on my desk and let their kids play with them  :o

I only brought in some Banpresto trading figures for that reason and in case they were stolen.

In the end, I found that having Valks on top of my monitor was very distracting!  I'd be tapping away at my keyboard, hard at work, look up, see the toys, think to myself,"Mmmmm.... Valkyries...", and jump online to check out the forums.  Pretty soon 30 minutes had past, my work is late, boss walks by, I'm reading about toy robots...

So now my cubicle is completely barren (by my choice) and devoid of even photos.

I get much more work done now :)

Where were you when you were writing this??

Haha, I was wondering if anyone would catch that :D

I was on lunch break :p

  9. I own the 1990 reissue and a taka, are you still curious if they'll color match?  If so, I'll take a look when I get home.

    402271

Color match and structurally match. I believe the Taka is going to fit differently, this is seen in the small gap between the chest plate and back plate in fighter mode on Taka Valks.

I suppose if you really wanted to test it, remove the chest plate from the Bandai and try and install it on your Taka :)

  10. ok so then whats this one?

    post-3216-1147655674_thumb.jpg

GAH! Now that you've tagged them, I recognize the one on the left!

I had the blue one when I was little.

I HATED IT! THE DAMNED ARMS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS POPPED OUT OF THEIR CHANNELS WHEN I TRANSFORMED IT! IT SUCKED!

This rant brought to you by my childhood.

    399549

I agree, they are the crappiest of the crappiest of toys.

The most retarded part is the landing gear which is removable. It fits into a peg just in front of the head, but on the red and green Legioss the antenae protrudes in front of the peg in fighter mode making it impossible to attach the landing gear.

That plus the removable wings and back plate, arm fins that dont retract, no shoulder sensor, and a horribly inaccurate canopy guarentees that this toy looks horrible in all modes :)

  11. ok so then whats this one?

    post-3216-1147655674_thumb.jpg

Dont know if its a bootleg Mospeada DVD,  but I agree box art is good.

    399494

Thats the Toynami Alpha Super Posable :)

Yes, those are Hong Kong bootelgs of Mospeada. That box art started showing up a couple of years ago so I'm pretty sure its the ADV sub.

  12. I think you have it a bit wrong Godzilla, the smaller and larger Gakkens do full transformations but they give up a lot of what the vehicle actually looks like in the show to accomplish it.  The diecast toys, on the other hand, give up fighter mode to look a whole lot better in the two modes they do achieve.  Unfortunately they're practically statues since they lack articulation.  As far as toys go, they're not so hot, but they're cool little metal statues.

    398368

I agree. The sculpt is my favorite of all the Alpha/Legioss toys ever released.

While not well articulated, the proportions are almost dead on to the line art in both its modes. Maybe including a fighter mode would have ruined the asthetics.

I think they are worth picking up just for that :)
