How do I strip the paint off diecast?

I just got a VF-11 that I plan to customize. Thing is, how do I get the paint off the diecast legs since the plastic parts are so close?

Might as well dissasemble the legs and strip the diecast pieces individually. It'll be safer that way...

Be sure to take pictures of how everything goes together just to make the re-assembly process easier.

However, if you don't want to take things apart, you can wrap the plastic parts in masking tape and sand the metal parts down to the bare metal. The masking tape will protect the plastic from getting any marks.

I'd disassemble the toy and soak the metal parts in pine-sol. That should take the paint off really good. Make sure to wash off all pine-sol before using metal primer. Scuffing up the metal a little helps the new primer and paint hold better too. Good luck.

I would go with Pine-sol. I just modded a Jetfire and used Pine Sol for everything. The Metal came clean with minimal brushing with an old toothbrush and the paint came off the plastic without damaging it. It did require more time in the Pine Sol and a little more brushing, but it did come out fine.
