How is Shin Getter Robo: OVA?

I've never seen any of the Getter Robo series but from what I understand this OVA which was released in 2004 was a alternate retelling of the original series. How was it?

Are there any plans to redo the other series in new animation, alt retellings, or just a sequel after this new OVA?

New Getter Robo isn't bad. A lot of fun early on, although it starts to turn a little confusing after the halfway point, and the ending was a bit bizarre.

It was much better than the abortion that was Getter Robo Armageddon.

I think it kicks ass! However the ending did not lend itself to a sequel. The series has already been reimagined twice more in the OVAs Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter and New Shin Getter Robo. Each time is a slight twist on the same characters and story.

Go Nagai and Ken Ishikawa know how to milk a franchise but at least it gets us new toys every few years.
