  1. Some ladies just can't handle the goodness bro, it shall pass.

They just need to see that if we are willing to go all out for a hobby, then taking care of them should be a piece of cake.

 So long as they don't dip in to the Valk-fund too much then all is well.

Or mabye she was a Gundam fan. . .:D:p:lol:

  2. Just like I said before if you make it macfans will buy them!!!!

    I have gotta score more.

Standard battlepods and that Glaug will look soooo good in my display case.

Gotta get two of those micro-missle pods, and one Glaug.

  3. I tell ya there are so many of us fans in the wings your head would explode.

I've been driving comercially for 3 years now and I've passed a lot of people (male and female fans), across the country with the UNSPACY kite or liscence plate on their car.

I've even seen it on a semi or two,

I take a couple Yamatos to fight off boredom when I'm on the road.

    ;)

  4. Ok,

Toys that are "meh". . .

    1) Bandai Mac7 valks, I've got two and thought hey its cool at the time but now not so much.

    2) The old school Arii non-transformable valks (either came in gerwalk or battroid modes in a bubble on a card), at the time I couldn't afford to buy the old 1/55's.

    3) Toynami's MPC's, a buddy bought me a few when I lived in Japan and I thought it might be nice to display them with my Yamato's almost like a collage (sp?), but NO DEAL, Yammies look way sweeter.

    4) Yamato's VF-1 V.1's super/strike debacle first releases weren't even designed to use them then later oops let's go back and sell em' modded to make up for it. Nice try but . . .

    The few toys I HATE. . .

    1) Yamato 1/72 VF-11, busted hips on both. Granted they broke 6+yrs later. Hell I still haven't had a "tab B" break either.

    2) The prize machine toys I got from Toys R Us Japan toys, you had toy build them from pieces in tiny baggies.

Once you did get them built they looked pretty good but they fell apart if you farted in the same room, and don't try to glue them either.

  5. I agree with Shin go back to the drawing board with the 25.

Just work on the 171's first then, release the improved 25's later.

This way Bandai can strech the license and have time to make the improvements.

Also they will be able to still produce another valk we want.

  6. This is a hard call, a VERY hard call . . . .

But, yeah I have to agree with you lurker.

The VF-1A Low Vis has to be my fave,

    - followed by a tight 2nd VF-11B

    - and 3rd stealth VF-1J

Its in the look of the birds when sitting on a shelf.

Sure they are all from an anime but those 3 look the closest to something you'd see on a flightline.

(In truth that is why I love Macross so much cause the tech seems so close to plausable)

Also following those would be the VF-0A's line.

But if they ever do make a VF-0D, everything gets kicked down a notch. :p

The F-14 is and will always be my favorite real AC so I guess the look just appeals to me.

  7. My sister walked in on me as I was repositioning my VF's after dusting out my bookshelf, and said having fun playing with your toy's. Of course that was the last straw for me when she said that, and I chased her out my room.

Tell me you used the valks to kick her out and followed her all day BUZZING her doing bomb runs and high-speed passes. :p:D :D :lol:

That's what I do when my family bugs me, crank up the Mac Plus OST and launch sorties to harass the locals. . . B))

After about 20 min, "Dad stop bothering MEEEE!!!!!!", and all is well then I go back to my room and the house secure. B))

  8. Has anyone seen the Chogokin Spec Layzner figure? The stand is electronic and looks just like the navigation computer in the show, with soundbytes and speech. It is very similar to what you describe. I don't know if that would work with valks, though, I've always thought of Macross as a little more realistic and less cheesy than other robot shows. Then again, give me a built-in MP3 player with the VF-19 and I'll be so over that because it's just pure unadulterated awe.

Yeah I have that figure and its cool but if they plan to do that I say,

1- Sell the stands both in sets and stand-alone for those of us that each different valk and don't have each valk.

2- Make the sounds play in HD/high quality by putting good speakers in the base, mind you not top of the line just better than the usual tin-sounding talking doll crap.

  9. Yeah fif', I know but some people out there just can't see the forest for the "Regults". ;)

That's all I've been saying from the start.

Now wrap yer head around how many of us here (@ MW) have bought these, and how many fans from other sites/venues have also purchased them from on-line stores.

Then take in to account this is the 3rd release and it seems to be going strong.

Kinda funny right, how nobody wants bad guys?

But they are selling out in the stores, it might be the price alone but I see it as demand hands down.

But its these same bad guys that make the good guys/aces look sooo damn cool.

    In movies, OVA's, on TV and dare I say it. . . . . on your shelves! :o :o :o

Ok the Q-Rau's may have tanked but I'd say the sales in this case are telling a different story how about you.

So to the guys @ Yamato I say up the antie and make male power armor in the future, we already have destroids. :p

If you keep it at the same level with those destroids and not too complicated (meaning we don't need to see the pilot inside) and watch the price you could have a winner too.

  10. I've got 3 x VF-11B and 3 x VF-11C and love them.

Excellent engineering, good articulation, durable (so far), still nice and tight and very easy and smooth to transform.

I really hope Yamato releases the atmospheric Super Packs from Operation Stargazer for the VF-11C and also releases the Full Armor.

As a bit of a downer, when I talked with Yamato about the armor sveral months ago, they did admit when they designed the VF-11 toy, they didn't take the armor into consideration, unlike the V2 1/60 VF-1, which was designed from the ground up for the GBP Armor. This is not to say that the armor couldn't be made to fit the toy, just that it might be abit more difficult.

    Graham

If they have to do some mods to make it and release a new Valk due to the changes I wouldn't be surprised.

Id buy the new one for/with the armor too.

Given the fact that the current bird is sweet, but I wonder if the joints could take the added weight over an extended period of time.

All in all they should have seen it coming up, seeing as both armor types have rare screen time but are immensely popular in the fanbase.

  11. And they say Regults won't sell well.... pffft.

I hear ya, but THEY also think that we're just the vast minority that don't buy "bad guy mecha".

Like many have said before, at least give it a shot.

    Sure its

    in a smaller scale,

    at a cheaper price,

    different material,

and from a company that doesn't quite have the most stellar track record . . . . .

But I think a lot of other fans (myself included) out here are putting our money up for something that IS in demand.

And all the hubbub against its selling is hitting the fan.

Yes its running in small quantities but damn if Toynami isn't on their 3rd release and planning a 4th with a toy that just isn't supposed to be selling. :o

Sure Yamaato is doing a sort of full-on, balls-out, all bells and whistles 1/60 scale toy/resin, that is going to cost a lot (which I would also buy but, no cash :D:p ).

And that price point will be the deal breaker for many.

But you can't say it won't sell cause its a bad guy mech that doesn't "transform" and nobody wants the bad guys. :p

Cause believe it or not, fans are buying the bad guys.

Again Toynami, keep up the good work, if I have to buy enemy mech from you and hero Valks from someone else who cares?

It will all look good on my shelf and to me that's all that matters. . .

  12. I've got both C and B. . .

And all I can say is they both are outstanding, top notch and and worth the price of admission.

Sure if you can find a deal DO NOT HESATATE, get one get both hell get two of each.

After have them I wish I did get doubles, but that will have to wait till taxtime in Jan.

And then ill have to choose which one I want an extra of. :p

  13. I can't really comment about Regult Scout because we have not officially announced that we're going to produce.

Sorry, I'm just a toy designer. I told my boss that we need all four variations.

He saids that it needs more sales to continue the line.

So there you have it. Buy more Regults

Ok but you guys gotta make more of the standard Regults too. . . :p

And as far as articulation goes just don't too skimpy, meaning don't take a step back on it and it will be good.

Maybe a tad bit more on the knees and hipjoints, but keep them easy to repair after shelfdives.

But honestly keep up the good work.

  14. It seems that in this thread, those who don't "fly" their valks are freaks.

Now I feel so ashamed that I never fly any of my valks even once.

Nah, don't think like that. :)

Its just that some of us still love the "swoosh" you can't help but make when ya fly it around the room that's all. :p :P

Its that feeling of you or your fav character buzzing around taking shots at your pet, wife or whatever.

The holding of said valk in your hands as a tangible object and seeing what sick moves you as a pilot can pull.

A physical piece of your imagination doing what you want vs watching someone else's ideas/physics on TV.

    The re-living a scene or making your own where you're. . .

    -Skull 015

-Isamu's wingman bustin your ass to keep up.

-A helluva a lot better than the other CF's. :D

-Stealing a VF-27 from the Galaxy to get it back to the Quarter for reverse-engineering.

-Hauling ass so you don't get your Spirta taken in a dogfight.

-Using your YF/VF-21/22 for recon and all hell breaks loose.

-Flying a first strike against hostle forces in your Stealth VF-1J with 2 low viz VF-1A's for cover.

My list goes on but ya gotta just do your thing.

How you admire your valks is your call to hell with all else, you paid for them man, ENJOY!!! :D:p:D

  15. Made even worst when you are naked and sticking the nose cone of your VF-1 in dark places.

    T.M.I.

Way too creepy for MW :o

But it may be a good way to keep peoples hands off your Valks. :D :D

  16. Things are not as easy as you think, not all people have access to information via internet and they may not find this site or any site if they do.

Price point is another issue. You think a $100~$150 toy is acceptable instead of $400, but for many people for the rest of the world, it means a salary of a month. The market of Macross toys is actually relatively small. Things are always easy to say then done.

I didn't say anything about price.

I understand the whole cost vs. need question very well I have to get by on a fixed spending limit also.

All I said was that they should poll to reach the fans (outside Japan), and ask if they might be willing to purchase this, as a toy and at what pricepoint.

  17. Ok then outside of the usa where else can they not sell or poll for results?

All I'm saying is they have the license to produce it right.

So why can't they put up a poll on their website and get and idea of how well outside of Japan it would do as a solid toy.

I mean really, we are already purchasing the toys from the four corners of the globe via on line sales and whatever.

So what difference would it make?

Bottomline if they really want to know the answer there is a way to get it.

  18. lol. that's a one way ticket to a court date with Tatsanuko...

    I don't see why,

    1. They are making the resin kit/toy for release

    2. They have the license to make it, and sell it everywhere that Harmony Gold doesn't have a lock on it.

    3. And it's just a poll, to see the level of popularity it would have outside of Japan.

I mean we outside of Japan spend a lot of money on macross too, some of us know it as Robotech.

But that doesn't change the fact we account for a sizable amount of sales.

Sure they could find out by contacting the stores that sell the toys and get an idea of the size of the non-Japan sales.

Hell even run it through the same said retailers and get a picture of sort on how well they might do.

I've said it before we here at MW are not the only Macfans in town.

I'm sure there are some who just don't sign in/register but lurk just for the news here and at other Mac sites too.

Sure we have a large community but I really don't think we are the only game in town.

    B))

  19. Now I just need two more Regults, that Glaug and a couple of male power armors and I could be in hog heaven!

Hell if the knees bend and the cannon rotates and elevates its a done deal.

  20. Well, that's debatable. Like they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I personally happen to think the Zaku and well all the mecha from the original Mobile Suit Gundam are some of the ugliest, unattractive designs in anime history, but that's just me.

Back to the subject at hand, I'm guessing that Yamato have done their market research and figure there is not enough demand to cover the costs of producing this as a mass-production ABS toy. It's unfortunate, as I'm sure many of us here would buy 1 or more if the cost was around the same as a V2 1/60 VF-1.

    Graham

I concur, but if they just gave it a shot I don't think they will be let down.

They should really look in to the international market by doing a poll, they should know many out here waiting for an affordable version that is virutlally problem free.

  21. I fly my Valks around in front of my wife all the time. What's the big deal?

    Graham

Amen to that bro, if they can't deal with it then what's the point of being with'em?:D:lol:

To tell the truth my wife has seen me have full-on dogfights and touch and go's off my flightdeck/desk. . .

So she's cool with it even with my music going.

  22. It was sold out prior to release, being a web-exclusive and all. Ebay is frankly going to be about your only option asides from Toy-Wave:

    http://www.toy-wave.com/eng/detail.php?id=13700&table=88

    DAYYYUUMM!!!!!!!!!

    Look at that price!

    And that's before shipping!

The word of the day is "Wallet Homicide".

But then again we here at MW are all guilty of "Wallet Cleasing".

Good luck bro you're gonna need it, I hope you can get one at a reasonable price.

I'm good with Brera's bird man, no need to get into a three-way battle between me, the wife and my back pocket.
