Every time I see this thread, that's what I think...

Course, it's mostly from the "Ooh, I don't have one of those yet" factor.
I don't quite know what I was thinking when I did it, but yesterday I unpacked my entire collection and laid them out on the floor. The pile of 1/60 missiles, booster packs, gunpods, and spare hands was rather startling. It filled up an entire shoebox to the top.
I probably won't leave them in that box, potential to get scratched paint and all that.. but I'd like to find somewhere to store all the accessories where they're easy to access, rather than having to dig into my hidden pile of Yamato boxes in the closet every time I want to change something.
All purchases are on hold at the moment for various real life reasons, but I still have a "to get" list in mind. It just might be a while before I get to them.
If you've got the cash to spare go to a sporting goods store and pick up a few good sized tackle boxes, the kind with shelves and removeable "mini" boxes to boot.
Saves a lot more space than the old shoe boxes and you can sort them by scale/toy types/series.
And no worries aboout paint chips either.
Also, for the instruction books go grab a few three ring binders and the clear pocket holder inserts like the kind you'd use for those old high school book reports.
Then you can store the boxes in the garage in old moving boxes or boxes you can get from COSTCO/Sam's Club.
As you can guess this is how my collection keeps growing.

just wanted to thank all the guys who served our country so that I could sit my butt in the garage at night and built all the wonderful models with out worrying... thank you.
redbull is ma best friend.. that thing can make me stay up all night.. of course I crash and brun HAAARD next morning...
Ya know I won't lie it was my pleasure to serve.
Hell, with 11 years in Japan, coming home with a beautiful wife, 3 pretty cool kids, 2 cats, and garage full of toys/model parts it was worth every mintue!

Like a lot of guys here staring watching Robotech as a kid (around '84 to '86).
Fell in love with it from the start, I kinda thought it was three shows put together.
(But never really got the hard evidence till much later in life around the time Mac Plus released.)
Loved the macross saga as it was billed to the point that I begged and begged for "Jetfire" cause I knew it was a "Valk", never got it hoped and wished each year though.
Alas nobody else listened to me then I scoerd a VHS copy of "Clash of the Bioroids" when it first came out.
Turns out it was a cheap edited dub of DYRL, and it became my most prized possesion.
Sure I collected Transformers, GI joe, HE Man, Centurions, Starcom, Air Raiders, Captain Power, Go Bots, and another of my faves M.A.S.K. (and anything else mom said was cool).
But the top 4 were always Macross, TF's, GI Joe, MASK, in that order.
Although growing up in Detroit there was NO Macross and Jetfire was either sold out or too expensive.
So after high school I joined the Navy and reluctantly (at first) got shipped off to Japan.
After 1 month of being dumb/bored, one of the guys I worked with wanted to watch a flick so I popped in "clash".
And as we watched it I had an epiphany/duh/moment of clarity. . . . .
"You moron you are in the Damn country where this came from, hit the streets and find the toys stores and ship it home! ! ! "
And so began the quest. . .
But as luck would have it I only found one macross valk, VF-1S MISB for 8000Yen and me that day with no cash to buy it.
So I tried to get owner to hold it for me but when I got back the next week she was gone.
Around that time Mac + was being released and I almost bought the laser disks but couldn't, no player.
So settled for what model kits I could find, and built them when the ship (USS INDEPENDENCE CV-62 by the way) was at sea.
Little did I know there were a lot of "otakus" and modelers on board, so when I got back in homeport I got pulled all over Yokouska, Yokohama, Shinagawa and Tokyo.
(Mind you not for just toys and models but the clubs too.)
By this time Macross 7 was on tv, but when you live on a ship ya don't quite get to sit down an enjoy what you want to watch with putting it to a vote (a rather large vote at that).
So it fell unto my ladyfriends to hook me up with a place to stay and watch when I could, (ohh thank goodness for those lovely ladies and the fact I'm a pretty good cook).
One day in my travels, I found an M7 Bandai VF-19S toy emerald force toy at a store and a ton of the 1/144 kits.
So I hoarded them like gold in my shop on the ship.
Soon after I was back into the ladies so Macross took an 8 month hiatus while I wooed my at the time girlfriend (now my lovely wife).
As I moved some things to our apartment before we got married I noticed the toys and models I had on the ship and moved them in too.
She noticed the stuff and right away called me an "OTAKU" while laughing her ass off.
But soon she realized that she too was an otaku her passions were and always will be Fire King dishes, Pingu and Totoro.
Fast forward 13 years, 3 kids, 3 ships, 1 tour of shore duty, and literaly thousands of dollars in toys later and she knows its not going to stop anytime soon.
Now I'm out driving trucks for a living.
Macross is my thing and I'm hooked for the long haul.

well, the mf line looks like it was a home run for Bandai so I don't see them stepping away from producing any future Macross shows and I really don't see Bandai handing the toy license over to Yamato.
And I think more people will buy any of the hero M7 valks over something like the vf-5000
Well here's to hoping it doesn't stay that way for too long.
And when the license does change hands we can only hope it will be for the better.
Also I would love to buy the VF-5000.
-
Same here,
But what I would really like to see is a stealth version, not exactly all black but a darker color than the VF-11B.
-
You sir beat me to it but yeah I had the game way back when, it was one of the reasons I bought a Dreamcast in the first place

But just give it time someone here is probably working on a custom set as we speak. . .

-
Milia is probably guaranteed... and maybe a non-canon Max.
I thought Max flew one in the M3 game on dreamcast too. .
-
Got one on the way for $34 shipped.
This will do just fine next to my 1/60's.
Its cheap and it doesn't transform so I'm not all that worried about its posibility.
-
Yup, a VFX-2 VF-11 paintscheme looks more like an F-14 than even Roy's VF-1.
And I think you and I would corner the market and buy a ton.
-
Yeah that would be tight too, giving it that navy fighter look.
-
Don't blame Yamato for the -11C looking plain, blame Studio Nue.
You sir are correct, cause had it been off white there would've been many a fan upset

Also I gotta agree with Vic the B's grey looks more military grade and the C's looks more NASA chase plane like but still very slick and formidable.

AmiAmi is sold out. It's still available at HLJ:
yeah i was checking that out, but still looking for a good price with shipping
-
There are two versions. One is a kit that you have to assemble and one comes fully assembled. I have the assembled one, which is exactly the same as any other V2 toy except no paint.
where did you get them i just the assembled ones
-
about that white vf-1s do you have to assemble it or not?
Im on the fence about buying a few but just want to know for sure.
-
I got both my orders from Amiami and HLJ at the same time.
It was almost like Christmas as a kid.
And again Yamato has scored a homerun.
-
I am totally pleased.
It has its fans and non-fans but I think it was a success all around.
That and the fact that this was the main plane I wanted from the show, and i'm cool. . .

-
Anyone know the production numbers on Tamashii webshop exclusives? If it's only like 1000 or so, there's going to be problems getting green VF-27's---MW alone needs several case's worth. (including a certain moderator)
Maybe someone will be as cool as I was way back when during the V.1 1/60 cannon fodder and star taking orders.
-
I lost a wager with myself...said if AmiAmi still had the 11C in stock when I got home from work, I'd get one...they were out. Fate has spoken...until the next time somebody has a deal on shipping.
Ya might want to try hkcollectibles, they have a good price even after shipping.
-
Everytime i see the quarter in poses like that, it reminds me of Godzilla and his theme music.

-
Ya know if i didn't have to get my car's oil changed I'd be getting another VF-11C this month.

-
Got it. Ami Ami Rocks. I'm definitely going to order from them again.
Uxi where do you live exactly?
Near S.D. or L.A. ?
I live near Temecula, and it hasn't gotten here yet.
Waiting for BOTH AmiAmi and HLJ items and neither are here yet. . . .
-
in my case, they billed me friday. i paid saturday morning. got my shipping notice saturday evening. i checked the ems# over at usps.com and it says it cleared customs earlier today.
Same here man that is FAST! ! ! !
-
Doesn't matter to me ill just get both and call the repaint the qtr and the 1st release another name.
Something like, the "N-UNS 02 Legacy"
The quarter's sister ship.

Now I never said my collection was neat, I just said it was stowed well.
Trust me if you looked my gallery you would be amazed I could find any of my stuff.
I clean it like once evry three months or when I get new toys but that's it.
No OCD here pal.
I just don't have the time.
