  1. Those are technically animation errors. The episode was outsourced to Korea and they read the storyboards wrong.

I didn't say it was canon.

All I did was give him a scene where it was done which would make someone who didn't know the truth think otherwise.

I know they are not "lasers" and have known for quite some time.

  2. That is the series I am currently finishing off currently on ep 30 or so. I swear I saw them shoot before, but it would be hard to go through all the episodes just to find a screen shot.

I do understand though that SDF Macross does have a lot of animation errors.

Max and Millia's wedding ep. (Virgin Road), he uses them to disable the battle pods when she says she doesn't want to kill any more.

After that just about the rest of the fight scene for the ep., every shot is using them too.

  3. If that means Bandai will let go of their exclusive hold on the VF-25 sooner (in one way or another), then I'm all for it.

    Ditto.

If they don't want to improve it then let someone else take a shot at it.

But I really want to see the DX battroid mode first before I pass judgmen on this.

Cause we all know the model will be more accurate but the toy could have glaring flaws all throughout.

If looks solid then I'll buy in, but if it looks like a cheap eyecatcher then all best are off. . .

And I too would've rather seen the VF-171 in any form before this, its just not fair to the other designs to be sorta scrapped like this.

  4. . . .Most collectors don't buy stuff for the resale value, either. It's nice at times, but it's the satisfaction of getting something you've been looking for, waiting for, and the thrill of the hunt.

And to answer the question of decals, I don't put on the decals, unless I'm customizing a toy, then I'll make it more realistic, but other than that, they stay as they came out of the box. Anyone else got any pics of their displays?

I'm with you on both points bro . . .

I don't buy these to look at resale value it may be sorta lucritive but its not my cup of tea.

Its the thrill of the hunt and display on a shelf that keeps me going.

Like a lot of us here have damn sweet displays, and at anytime we like we can pull a toy down and relive a scene or make our own.

Its about that feeling we had as kids when we first got a cool toy we wanted.

For some the "Whooshing" around, others just seting them up in the display is a rush.

Just seeing a tangible piece of our childhood/imagination sitting there is almost as cool as seeing/piloting it in real life.

    :D

And also I'm a mostly no stickers kind of guy.

Unless it is a typically shown feature in the show or really necessary for display (color/identifier/designator).

I don't like the way they curl up and or fade over time on display.

  5. Not to drag on but. . .

One of my wife's friends recently came over and kinda put me on the spot about my colection too.

I just told her its my thing and (jokingly) "better this than another woman. . "

    :lol::lol::lol:

She didn't take it too well at first. . .

But after she heard about the cost of time and money that went into it she eased up and saw it for the stress reliever it really is.

Again its your/our hobby, if some people don't want you to enjoy it then just keep them seperate.

We are all grown enough to enjoy/pay for these items, we've worked long and hard to have them.

So display them with pride and joy. ;)

  6. On the "Father Approval" note, my dad passed a long time ago.

But, I think he would've given me the big thumbs up!

Hell, he started my hobbying mind set with models, electric trains, Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars even M.A.S.K.

I think he and I would be still hitting the toy stores with my son looking for the bigger better deal.

I believe he felt the need for a hobby was crucial to helping a person grow.

His big deal was fishing and fixing cars.

Me? I went but didn't get it the way he did.

I think he saw that and kinda changed his plan to a smaller scale and it worked (but I still love classic muscle cars).

Nowadays I look at my son and see him and his RPG's and poke/baku/yugi/digimon world and laugh.

I may not be a fan of them but its what's got his eye and far be it from me to preach otherwise.

And in the future I visit him and he has a mancave on par with mine I will be proud then I'll hand him the still sealed reissue Japanese Ultra Magnus I bought him when he was 18mos old. B))

All I can say to you, is don't let it get you down.

You built that collection for your pleasure not his.

    (Much respect)

    Back on topic. . .

I gotta redo the lights in my main case the bulbs are just too hot.

  7. Getting to like the look of the VF-19EF more each time I see it.

    Graham

Same here, though to me it looks more like a trimmed down air/space brawler/intercepter.

Less graceful than its predecesors but it has that still the talons to kick ass in a fight.

Kinda like an Eagle to a Hunting Falcon.

Or in a twisted sort like the F-18A/B to the F-18E/F its purpose was changed but it still holds the essence.

Dare I say it but I hope they make a toy of it.

  8. Pare the Max 1A kicks ass. I grew fond of the paint scheme. This is the 1st valk Max impressed audiences with and the one where he not only became an ace, but also defeated Milia(and saved his crewmates). Sure his 1J has all the flash, but his 1A is more combat relevant.

You make really good point. . .

That line of thought led me to buy both his TV 1A and his DYRL 1S.

All for the fact those were the birds fought hardest in and took on Millia in.

I just knew the pairing would look nice in my case, and it does. :D

  9. Never say never, but unfortunately, when Yamato designed the VF-11, they didn't have the Protect Armour in mind, unlike say when the designed the V2 1/60 VF-1, which was designed from the ground up with GBP armour in mind.

    Graham

Yeah I remember you mentioning that before, but ill still hold out hope for it to hit the shelves one day.

And yes I will probably pay full price for it too. . . :p

  10. It sucks but gotta wait till I get back home before I buy anything.

Hopefully Ill be ther next week.

I have got to finish the Vermillion squad got Max and Hikaru need Roy and Kakizaki.

I've got Skull squad in 1/48s so I'm good there.

But the pressure is on with this sale so tempted to snach up other items but need to focus.

Curse you HLJ for hitting below the belt. . . . . :D

But noone ever said Macross was a controlable force of hobby power. . . . . . . AARRRGHHHHH!!!!

  11. When you say supplier, do you mean an individual seller or an online shop like Overdrive or Angolz? With prices as good as these, I'm definitely open to other options other than the usual online shops.

I'll PM you check you messages. . .

  12. That's a sweet deal if I ever saw one, especially if it's MISB. One question, though; is this being sold on Ebay or an online shop? If it's the former, you might want to be careful about deals that look too good to be true.

I knda felt it was a good deal but needed some MW input/concensus.

I thought if I bounced it off my fellow members here I'd get a general idea if I were looking at solid deal.

Also I'm getting it from a good source, he's been one of my best suppliers from HK for a while.

  13. if Yamato would make their own 1/60 toys in the (far or near) future, my bet is that they're gonna study the Bandai 1/72 kits and try to figure out how to make it into a "sturdier-than-a-model" toy. i also think they'll have some of the DX 1/60s just for laughs...

    :lol::D:lol:

  14. Sadly, I have given up all hope of ever seeing a DX 1/60 scale VF-171/VF-171EX from Bandai.

Hopefully Yamato is able to get the Frontier licence sometime in the next 3-5 years.

    Graham

You are the man who can be in their ear about it. . .

"Come on I know you guys can do a better job than this, and you know it will sell. . . It IS Macross after all. . . "

But I wonder if they have any of the MacF toys laying around to look at and think about a redesign.

  15. Whatever happened to the Britai Viny 1/60 figure? They should at least maybe go that route in the meantime between the slow-down. I started work on my own super custom 1/60 that hasn't been done yet, so I'm glad they at least did the unassembled versions. There's still the Angel Bird and VF-X (Christmas gifts). I hope the Regults sell well enough that equate to making a toy version, even if dumned down.

Graham, since you are in contact with Yamato, how about a VFX Ravens VF-19? That was my favorite colored 19 model. Still don't know why the "Nut Cracker" or "Double Nut" (WTF) and the "Bird of Prey" were done before that. MILK THOSE MOLDS, BABY!!!

I'm with you, I hope those Regults do sell well for the same reason.

And as far as the 19 is concerned I want both the blue (Ageis) and green (Gilliam) versions from VFX-2.

Just use the new body from the Kai with the needed tweaks to make it a 19A.

Also do the 11 scheme from the game and Millia's red too. With the current mold it will be so sweet!!

  16. or the armor set could just come with the parts on the vf-ll we have to swap out. I'm sure Yamato must realize by now that most of us are experts at dismantling and putting their stuff back together by now. ;)

You sir are reading my mind. . . . :D:lol::D

With the build/customize your own VF-11 approach it seems more reasonable too.

Just keep the cost down on both ends $50 to $100 seems ok. . .
