  1. I dunno that this has anything to do with added articulation. I don't have that problem with any of my Alternators, Masterpiece toys, or movie Prime and Ironhide. Not to mention the Classics I have. All of those have pretty snazzy articulation (except for a couple of the Alternators, like Sideswipe and Sunstreaker's legs).
  2. Last generation, the PS2 had a huge market saturation gap over both the Xbox and the Gamecube. Developers stood to make the most money off PS2 sales, so naturally that's where all their attention went. This generation, that is no longer the case. Developers will have to spread their support more equally to make the kind of profits they'd like to see. They've got far more to lose from sloppy ports.
  3. Here's hoping not. I think the idea that Transformers should be about the robots and nothing else is rather overrated. Sure, characters like Spine and Daniel in the tv series, and presumably the kids in the Japanese imported shows, are terrible, but they don't need to be. I personally wasn't bothered by the human characters in this movie. I do hope they manage it while expanding more on the story behind the Transformers, though. Preferably with a director who knows how to make characters more than wooden puppets to jabber between action scenes.
  4. If it's loud enough to hear, then it's certainly an issue at that price, you don't need to be a media snob with an entertainment centre that cost more than your house to see that. Even $20 DVD players don't make any audible noise when you're watching movies. I hadn't heard anyone mention this being a problem with the PS3 until now, though. No one I know has been willing to shell out for a PS3, so I've no idea just how audible it is.
  5. Even Miyazaki movies get art theatre distribution. Hardly mainstream release. Unfortunate, given the poor state of animated movies in the west these days.
  6. Oh, most definitely, if you're an early adopter looking to grab a BluRay player, the PS3 is a steal.
  7. I'm rather enjoying all the little things like the EthanHaasWasRight.com, the website with the two photos, even the Parasite webpage that links back to that small tossing games site with the odd forum posts about a guy looking to get in touch with his old friend Ethan (I still can't figure out if the entire site is just a mockup for the movie hype, or if it's an actual games store that happens to have some relation to whoever is doing the Ethan Haas stuff.), and all the little puzzles and conspiracy theories. Though, the silliest thing is still the people trying to say the photo with the two girls has something mysterious in the background. (Protip: It's hair.)
  8. After a hefty $100 price drop, I can't help but realize it's still $500 bucks.
  9. Yet Paramount did remove the 'Ethan Hass Was Right' videos from Youtube.
  10. Then these truly are the End Times.
  11. While I won't disagree that the movie story is pure fluff, and there are some things not explained within the movie itself (Prime calling Megatron "brother" in a passing comment is hardly a plot hole, though.), however I've seen some very well written stories that left many confused and requiring explanations. Again, that doesn't really apply to the case of Transformers, just saying. That seems a bit of a stretch to me. I'd say more likely Boxer's interpretation is the better one. (Though this is a Bay movie, I wouldn't rule out "Evil" being written into Megatron's microships!)
  12. Let's at least remember why Blair Witch sucked. Less than halfway through the movie you wanted the characters to die a gruesome death because they were all so stupid and annoying. I doubt this a Cthulhu movie though. Kinda funny, there seems to be a lot of people who think this is a Godzilla movie. There were also a lot of people claiming it's a Voltron movie, but I'm pretty certain most of them are joking. I hope all of them were joking, but it's kinda hard to tell with people.
  13. That site is apparently based on this site, which is another part of the whole viral marketing shebang: http://ethanhaaswaswrong.blogspot.com/2007/07/blog-post.html
  14. I do have to agree with that, which is a big part of why I prefer the toy designs over the movie designs. (The other thing being that design-wise, the movie robots break one of the basic principles of character design, that being a recognizable silhouette. Again, something the toys manage more successfully.)
  15. Word has it that this site is related: http://ethanhaaswasright.com/ It's mentioned on the Wiki, too.
  16. I hope they do make a Leader Class Star Scream that manages a better F-22 mode. I'd certainly be interested in that.
  17. Has it been clarified yet whether this is an actual price drop, or Circuit City trying to move inventory?
  18. About the end... *edit* I would hope this wouldn't be the case. I enjoyed the film, but it's not without it's flaws.
  19. That's all I really expected. Effects-wise, the movie exceeded my expectations. It also didn't take itself far too seriously as I feared it would. Frenzy/Soundbyte was great (at least I thought so), and there was just the right ratio of Transformers and human involvement to make me happy. The characters weren't as well written as they could have been, the scope of the movie was not as epic as it could have been, and the story didn't really pull me in as well as it could have (all the reasons why earlier I mentioned my preference for other movies released this year). However, at the same time the characters, dialogue, and story, never really made me cringe except , and the action was great. I enjoyed it, and I certainly plan on seeing the next film as soon as it comes out.
  20. I agree with you, GobotFool. Combined with the subtitles goof, it makes ya think that Yamato was handling the QC.
  21. I doubt we'll see them drop the human element entirely, and quite honestly I wouldn't want them to. I used to think all robots all the time would be great, but these days I'm more interested in how they interact with the world around them, that world being our's. One of my favourite parts of the Binaltech backstory is how it ties in all these different human characters from both the TF universes, and the G.I. Joe universe. It helps to give the Transformers battles a sense of scale, and create a more complex and interesting world around these giant alien machines beating the crap out of each other.
  22. No, neither did I, but it's little things like that which can either make a member of the audience smile in satisfaction, or nearly leap from their seat crying, "What the hell?!" It's really no different then making a movie about WWII, but whenever a german speaks it's just weird gibberish with some german words tossed in. I didn't go to the movie to learn german, but if half the dialogue is something like, "Spreachun die Heinekin bitte hanf!" "Ja mein noodle jagermeister ribbon!" "Zeutfeld!" anyone with even a passing familiarity with the language is going to have a lot of trouble with that 'suspension of disbelief' thing.
  23. Classics are fine, but Alternators was by far my favourite TF line. A little more variety, especially with the Decepticons, and a couple better character choices (such as using Ironhide as the pickup truck rather than Prime who already had an MP release) could have made it practically perfect. I'll definitely miss this chapter of the Transformers franchise. Hopefully the MP toys will keep coming. An MP Soundwave with Laserbeak would be a welcome addition to my MP/Alternators shelf. Hmm, MP Astrotrain and Blitzwing? I know I'm dreaming, but hey.
  24. It seems to me that Bumblebee in the movie seemed like a cross between the old loveable Bumblebee and Hot Rod. I also loved the not quite subtle jab of having Bumblebee parked next to a rusted out VW bug, and what he did to it. XD
  25. According to the Boston chief of police, if the alleged pie had been a bomb, it could have certainly taken out 5 city blocks. 10 city blocks if the bomb had been Apple or French Silk. Mmm. Pie.
