  1. My Cannon fodders just arrived. Man, they're soo sexy!

Fighter mode with v.1 CF comparison. As you can see, all CFs sport different colors. I don't own a 1/48 CF, but it seems to also sport a different shade of brown.

    Looking for trouble?

Back to back (beware: VF1J color, due to the particular light, is not accurate in this picture).

  2. GN-U VF1J pics with Revoltech (and other VF1)comparison

VF1J is extremely poseable but is somehow floppy, much more floppy compared to MPlus GN-Us, especially the chest area joint. Figure comes with transparent display stand.

  3. For a while now I've been working on a website to collect all that rare and little-known information into a single, comprehensive reference collection covering the entire alternate universe. It's still a ways from being complete, but thanks to the MW community, I've made some great strides over the past year or so. (I've also put in a bit of work for the Macross Mecha Manual's Macross II section)

    And I'm eagerly awaiting!

  4. I love Macross II. The mecha, the story, the characters, the fact that Kawamori was not involved (uh!), Mikimoto's designs. Sylvie for me remains the best female character of the Macross universe. Oh, and there's Nexx in his Metal Siren who kiks ass!. What I don't like is the the drop down in animation quality of some episodes, especially the first half of #6. I would have liked it to be a longer series, too.

  5. Really? Strange...it's subtitled in the Central Anime version of Dynamite 7, and I thought that was the standard fansub...

Uh... I must confess I have a bootleg DVD of Dynamite, I'll try to find the CA version. By the way, I really can't believe a radio drama can be taken for granted, as it's only fiction. Maybe the Chronicle entry for Elma and her father can shed some ligt on this?

  6. No, they're descended from marsupials, like everything else on Zola (listen closely to the "Zomeo and Zoliet" radio show that plays in the background occasionally during Dynamite 7).

I can't uderstand a word of japanese and the radio show wasn't subtitled, that's why I missed it! But isn't Z&Z just a fictional story? Maybe [speculation starts] it's just that each colony planet tried to come up with a personal backstory or mithology.

  7. I think the distinction about Macross is more fundamental. The whole purpose of creating a military fighting robot is to fight. A story which denies your military fighting robot sabotages the entire endeavour of creating a military fighting robot story. The whole crux of the story then becomes functionally impotent. It's like sex without an orgasm. Should there by any wonder why audiences scream bloody murder? Of course not.

But that's what makes Macross Macross. The coolest robots ever created and they are not even remotely the main focus of the story. Heck, in the original series, there are episodes where we don't even see a Valkyrie transform. I like that (exept when the alternative to Valkiries is Ranka. Then episode 25's mecha orgy is a real life saviour :p ).

  8. I know, I know, but I can't take out of my head the idea of being treated more and more like a "milkcow". Anyhow, this is a news thread, so thanks Kreshpy for the links to those gorgeous animations!

  9. Macross -> Pachinko?

    MACROSS HAS ARRIVED!

Yes, only the most popular/big names get made into pachinko games. I've kinda considered it a barrometer on the success of a movie, TV series, etc. (animated or otherwise).

Call me crazy, but I really don't know if this popularity makes me happy. I wouldn't like Macross to become like Gundam.

  10. I finally got my hands on MAce #2. As usual, Macross the first is the only thing of value inside the magazine. The drawings by Mikimoto are gorgeous, but I must confess the introduction of Minmei's pet, Hikaru nose-bleed and Minmai "strip tease" were embarassing to say the least.

  11. As always, poor Nexx is left out. He was in the love triangle, after all, being the "propaganda" love interest of Sylvie. Oh, well, no one could vote for him as worst protagonist anyway, he's too cool.

Going back on topic, It's funny that the most hated male main characters are the ones I like the most (Basara & Hibiki - Most of you people seem to really have a problem with pacifist ^_^). Since a choice had to be made, Shin got my vote, but I don't really think he's a bad character.

As for female charas, I have absolutely no doubt: Ranka all the way.

Cuz originally I put Focker in as a protagonist of M0, but then felt unsure whether he is one. )

He is, but honestly, who would vote against Roy?

  12. Hold your horses, people!

I don't think the ship in Macross Frontier Vol. 4 (p. 238, if you're interested) is the same as the one in VF-X 2. According to the book, "Macross 13" is the number given to covert Macross ships that "don't exist" (at least not officially). So there are probably a few Macross 13s running around.

Kim's Macross 13 protects earth from the Vajra during the final battle in Frontier. And she's still got short hair, but it's all gray now, of course. ^_^

She has always been my favourite Original Bridge Bunny!
