  1. It probably contains the part you mention then, the prototype thing comes towards the end but is probably followed by some other pages. I connot say for sure as I glimpsed it from an image and not the actual product. Thanks anyway!

Picked up my copy today, can confirm it does contain all the serialized chapters up to NA9, including that one Minmay Yokohama flashback prelude chapter.

  2. Can anyone please post a picture of the updated Sharon Apple designs in Macross Plus TAC Name? Even just one. I would be eternally grateful. Thank you so much!

The final confrontation version of Sharon is the most changed.

Pink haired moe meganekko of doom.

  3. Do you reckon it's exclusively his choice of 'adults' as characters in his works that works against him? Or is there more to it?

I think the standalone episodic format of most Champloo and Bebop episodes up to the climax is one factor.

That and the decidedly personal and non "epic" nature of his protagonists'

Story arcs compared to mainstream shows also seems to bore and turn some people off

  4. I don't know, feels a bit too busy with all the extra flash overs added, like they tried to cramp everyone in like a modern OP.

I just realized as pivotal a character as Minmay was, she never appeared in the original OP.

  5. "No region" means the game will be playable on a US or European PS3 even if it is Japanese (so are normally every PS3 games), though I'm not sure the movie will be readable on any onther system than japanese.

And Renato is right, there's been already 2 Macross games based on Frontier on PS3 ;)

AFAIK, no PS3 games are region locked anyway. Bluray video can be, but previous releases from Bandai like the last two Frontier hybrid discs are not locked, meaning you can play them on any ps3/bluray player.

  6. Hey folks, soaking-wet noob here. I just started reacquainting myself with the original series and am happy to have found this forum. I will accept dumb answers (or links) to these dumb questions:

Does the Supervision Army figure in any of the sequel projects?

No, but there is speculation about Macross 7's secret backstory and the origins of the Supervision Army.

Has anyone attempted to map out exactly how and/or where Macross City was configured within the ship?

DYRL has the city in multiple layers situated in the legs.

Is there a recommended long-form review of the series, a la the Onion AV Club's "re-watch" columns?

How the heck did Misa survive the final conflagration in 'Farewell To Tenderness', and did anyone else make it out?

What final conflagration? Quamzin's ship clearly misses the bridge, shears one of the carrier arms and crashes behind the Macross.

  7. Funny you should mention that... as I was looking them up (for another site) earlier today. It's not there. But you can keep checking this: http://www.amazon.co...sl_5elyc2kigh_e (in short it's a search for "Variable Fighter Master File" on the site. The Softbank Creative page w/ same search: http://www.sbcr.jp/search.php?w=%E3%83%B4%E3%82%A1%E3%83%AA%E3%82%A2%E3%83%96%E3%83%AB%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%BB%E3%83%9E%E3%82%B9%E3%82%BF%E3%83%BC%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%AB This site: http://www.getchu.co...phtml?id=730979 has some info of note:

So, February and still no official announcement of this book. Is this still based only on rumor or what?

  8. Looks like they are using the touchscreen for issuing wingman orders. Hopefully they can improve the system to give more specific orders via drag and drop like in Shin Sangoku Musou Next. Like Defend this spot, melee this enemy, instead of just my active target. Or drop everything and run like hell from the killzone of the incoming wave motion gun of death, lol.

  9. Argh, ran into another surprise annoyance on the Vita's PSN implementation.

Trophies for any specific game card seems to be locked permanently to a single PSN account only, specifically the first PSN account to ever sync trophies online (or play the game while registered? Not sure.). Attempting to play under another account after that will bring up a message informing you that trophies can no longer be earned. Resetting game data on the card from in the game DOES NOT HELP, nor does factory resetting the Vita. AFAIK I know, there is no way to delete trophies off from PSN. I guess the PSN account data is stored on the game card itself?

Just a heads up for anyone who cares about such things, Sync on the correct region account first. Also, I suppose this prevents trophies for those who buy 2nd hand games (which i assume is the point).

  10. I'm honestly not sure how long it takes them to render models for the PS3/Vita, as there is a "lot" more detail (as shown by the PS3 demo's). The Vita is region free for actual game cards, but it's region locked for PSN network accounts/DLC. What this basically means, is hopefully there won't be any DLC on these games...

Yes, I'd like confirmation of this fact as well. As I understand it, the PSN store region is locked to whatever PSN account the Vita is activated under. Does this http://psvitaplanet....weak-uncovered/ workaround no longer work under the latest firmware or something? Albeit the no support for foreign PS Stores for import games and making your customers jump through hoops is retarded to begin with when your system is regionless and supposedly import friendly by design.

I'm asking because I just buckled and bought a system, and was hoping to create a secondary PSN account for Japanese games. Speaking of which, for those with Japanese PS Store access, are any of the Macross games for PSP available for download at present? *edit* hmm, apparently not.

  11. To be fair, what the OP is proposing is a different genre of game from the Battle series,

Just as Gundam vs. plays differently from Gundam Battle.

Yes, I would like to see a Macross game with proper multiplayer (no, 2 aside deathmatch

on local adhoc only doesn't count), less RPGy stat grinding and more skill based, and with more challenging AI.

However, wishing EA can make this game, or even be interested, is a pipe dream.

  12. Great news! Though given how the GA variable fighter master file books have always been delayed I doubt it'll be released as per schedule in feb.

A thought came to me the other day. Wasn't it the discovery of the SDF1 and overtech that enabled variable fighter tech? And wasn't the need for battroid primarily to counter the large humanoid zentrans?

Was there ever any explanation of how the vf0 and sv51 were possible before the discovery of overtech? And battroid mode?

Macross Zero takes place AFTER the SDF-1 crash, which sparked off the Unification Wars.

The bright light Shin remembers from his childhood is the crash.

This is in contrast to the Robotech version of the timeline where the crash ended WW3.

  13. As for Macross The First, all I can say is poor, poor Focker. He endures what no man should ever have to.....

To GBP-1S designers - armor needs manual override to remove in case of purge malfunction. LOL.

Yikes. Three days of that. Poor Focker indeed.

I liked Vanessa's retro rims better. That's not permanent, right?
