  1. Only, now Gramia is toast. Though, did we see him getting toasted? Or did Roid take the opportunity to toast the guy himself?

Yeah, I don't buy it. If the king was supposed to have been impaled by shrapnel from the explosion, where's the fatal shard in his chest wound? I think Lloyd ran him through with his sword in the chaos.

BTW, what's up with his glasses thing? Does Lloyd actually have a Manchurian Candidate split/sleeper personality with the change of glasses as a tell or something?

Then again, this whole thing could have just been Gramia really wanting to get his hands on that limited edition display stand for his 144/1 scale Protoculture warship.

    😁
  2. When they do it anime it is usually for humor or fan service. Frontier was filled with characters to tease the fans. Look at all the official and unofficial art work of Ranka & Sheryl or Alto & Michael together cheek to cheek and holding hands. I'm not sure if they'll ever have a serious same sex couple in Macross. If they were a couple Vrlitwhai and Exseldor would have been the most grown up and least fan service version of one.

Exsedol and that SDF-1 Engineering Chief (Robotech's Dr Lang) are totally a ship.

  3. Just a note on the subs before the discussion goes further, gg took some liberties with their translation (they usually do), specifically with what Arad and Mikumo said.

-Arad didn't really said "He would be proud of you" the actual line is "yoku nite yagaru ze"「よく似てやがるぜ、あの人に」, which is basically "He really resembles that person"

-Mikumo never calls Freyja a princess, so "good morning, princess" it's just gg taking liberties (before the theories about Freyja being secretly part of the Windermerian Royal family start), Mikumo just said "You finally awaken"

    That's all. :)

While they're playing fast and loose with the subs, I'm so disappointed Hayate never told the Voldorian ace guy to "go home and be a family man"

  4. Roid that is pretty arrogant in proclaiming Brisingr cluster inhabitants are the true inheritors of the Protoculture. As if Earthers, Zentradi and Zolans don't count as they weren't from there.

I guess Lloyd's screwed up nationalist myth rationalization is that since the youngest known miclone races were seeded in Brisingr cluster, the reason Protoculture stopped seeding new races was because they deemed their final product a success, everything else that came before were dismissed as unworthy failures.

  5. I don't know. He's acting more like a psychopath as the series goes on. And despite being called Aerial Knights, they arguably haven't done anything chivalrous at all so far.

I feel that of all the Aerial Knights, Bogue seems to be taking this war the most personally. I wonder if he has some bone of his own to pick with NUNS.

  6. I've always wondered - who was the first to come up with this style? Was it originally based on kids' anime, i.e. replicating the style of the drawings in the comics themselves? Whenever I see these, I always think, "only the Japanese would think up something like these!" I've never been sure if they were intended for kids, adults with a good sense of humor, or what. This one really looks need - I think my kids might need it!

  7. Yeah, barring a few exceptions where FAST pack models were developed with the specific goal of being operated in the atmosphere (e.g. the ones on the VF-11, VF-17, and VF-19 near the end of Macross 7) they're generally meant to be used in space only. However, since Macross 30's one and only space level is the supposed-to-lose fight at the very beginning of the game, that's kind of gone out the window for gameplay's sake so you can equip pretty much any FAST pack in atmosphere.

Yeah, they enforced the FAST pack limitation in the PSP games.

  8. Finally arrived today from HLJ. I feel a little pinkish white on the VF-1J, but acceptable because I will have the armor on all the time. Everything looks ok to me. Hope you guys get your GBP VF-1J soon. :D

Wait, the arcadia GBP is the grey visor version?

  9. Maybe Max just wore those glasses to look cool, or perhaps he was especially light-sensitive. They were always tinted, after all.

That makes me wonder - do we ever see Max without his glasses on? I can't recall ever seeing him that way, but surely it must have happened at some point, right?

Q-Rau giant Max at the end of DYRL?

  10. Yep, it's a recast of the old vintage SD plamos, down to the spring loaded action gunpod. Used to have a set of Funny Chinese, Armored VF-1J, VF-1S and Q-Raus, lost to the ages. So wish ?Bandai? would release/remake these like their contemporary SD Gundams

  11. Hahaha! Yup, had to check for myself. It was the 2nd movie.

What does the leer on version look like? Couldn't find anything

    Vf-27, sorry.

  12. If this valk is released, then there is no doubt that Leon's teal YF-25 will be released down the road.

There's potentially more variants incoming if they really intend to milk the game for all it's worth.

    Gunness VF-171EX

    Aisha VF-19E

    Leeron VF-27

  13. This one looks nice. I agree with most of you that the wing is kinda long in Battroid mode. Looks like a cape. :)

They look somewhat oversized in Valkyrie even. Hopefully this can be fixed in the final product, or they can be made swappable.

  14. Did you guys see their fb page? They have the CAD for all three 1S, 1J & 1A (see attached) :

    www.facebook.com/fansmaketoys

There appears to attachment point slots for packs on the legs and backpack. Are add on packs planned? The original JM had super packs.
