1. From rumors I've heard, that isn't the first time HBK has been in such close proximity to Vince's posterior.
2. I thought the same thing. Last time WWE announced Bret's return on RAW, nothing happened. Instead, we have the Vinnie Mac screwing HBK angle. Last year, Bret appeared at RVD's 5-Star Comics to sign autographs, but left L.A. on the day of WrestleMania 21, thus killing all rumors of him showing up at the PPV. Though the WWE Hall of Fame falls on April 1, expect Bret to show up. After all, he and Vinnie Mac have already buried the hatchet, as we've seen on Bret's DVD. 370418 Yeah, I'm 99% sure Bret will be there, if he had no intention, he would be telling all his fans on the net that it is a work. Also, I don't think that Vinnie Mac wants Bret to work for TNA anytime soon and pulling a "stunt" would only further aggrivate the situation. Imagine Bret going to TNA and forming a face Hart Foundation to fight the heel team Canada
3. Oh come on, you mean you aren't looking forward to the main event, which will be Cena beating Edge....again???
4. My current favorites: 1. Chris Benoit 2. Samoa Joe 3. "The Canadian Destroyer" Petey Williams 4. A.J. Styles 5. "The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels Yeah, only one WWE Superstar on the list. That's how bad WWE is these days. 365358 I'm watching a match between AJ, Samoa Joe, and Daniels on YouTube. They'd pretty much be restricted if they went to the WWE. Most of the moves they pull of are stuff you'd NEVER see or Vince would probably tell them to cool it down. WOW WOW WOW. 365510 The match between Daniels/Styles/Joe is probably from Unbreakable. That is the first match I show to all of my wrestling friends who still watch WWE. It pretty much blows their minds. That match, by the way, is the 2nd of 3 5-star rated matches that Joe was in, in the span of roughly a year and a half. If ratings from Meltzer mean anything nowadays, that is still impressive for someone of his age and experience. The other two were Joe/Punk 2 and Joe/Kobashi, which I HIGHLY reccomend.
5. 365358 That's cool, I'm a big Benoit mark as well. I got to meet Christopher Daniels and Low Ki at the ROH show this past weekend in Dayton, both were really respectful and cool to talk with. I like Petey Williams, but it seems like he is kind of lost in the shuffle in the X-division right now . Suposedly, Benoit's contract is up soon, maybe he won't re-sign with the WWE and works some Indy dates. Can you imagine Benoit vs Samoa Joe??
6. Sorry for jumping to conclusions, being an "internet smark" I have to protect Joe's honor at all costs . Glad to see that you are a fan of Joe as well. You said he was top 5, who is your favorite right now? Mine changes from week to week, this week it is CM Punk.
7. Sorry to drag this quote from out of nowhere but what is your beef with Joe? Surely you are Kayfabing about him being too "dangerous" to work in the WWE? Joe is arguably the greatest wrestler in America right now, and he did turn down an opportunity to work for the WWE in '05. His offense is SUPPOSED to look brutal, that is what makes it cool to watch, but to each his own, I guess. Joe is no more dangerous than any of the other wrestlers(Benoit,Jericho,Eddie G.,Malenko) who spent much of their formative years in Japan. It is just as well that he isn't in WWE though, he would be wasted...
8. First Off: Brock Lesnar, in his first match with New Japan, won the IWGP championship. This puts him in pretty lofty company, as the only other wrestlers to hold the IWGP and WWE titles are Hogan and Antonio Inoki!! Pretty interesting for a guy who is supposed to be under a no-compete clause. Mickie James is the former Alexis Laree. She was a mainstay in Ring of Honor(best American wrestling promotion, by the way) and has been in the OVW development territory for quite a while now. Oh yeah, by the way, HOW CRAPPY IS WWE?????? When 40-plus minutes of a 2-hour "wrestling"program (and I use that term very loosely) is devoted to the McMahons or their In-Laws, how can they possibly expect to make any new stars when they are educating the fans that the McMahons are the focus and true stars of the show? Granted TNA has a weak main event scene as well, but they know where their bread is buttered, the X-division. They have the most exciting wrestlers in the world: Samoa Joe, Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles, Austin Aries, Chris Sabin, Petey Williams and showcase them as such. WWE has top-level talent as well: Paul London, Spanky, Paul Birchall, but chooses to keep them on shows like Heat and Velocity as well as limiting their movesets(no top rope moves) thereby killing any heat they could possibly get. If you love wrestling, I BEG you to check out Ring Of Honor(www.rohwrestling.com). I have been watching wrestling for 20 years now and have been really disenchanted with the mainstream(WWE) product, ROH has re-kindled my love for wrestling. Last part of my rant, WWE(World Wrestling Entertainment) is neither wrestling NOR entertaining....
9. From my understanding, TNA will be on Saturday nights at 11:00pm, with a replay the following Monday night at 11:00pm, so unfortunately we will not see a true "head to head" competition. Vince claims that he doesn't fear TNA, but he sure is being awful protective of copywrights he claims to own(the Duleys, the New Age Outlaws) to make sure that if that talent shows up on TNA(Road Dog and Billy Gunn are already there), then at least they won't have the advantage of using their former names. He also signed Mick Foley to a new deal, when rumors were swirling that he would like to work with TNA because there is an overlap of talent that he worked with in ROH(Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels). That is the only way I see TNA having a chance, by using guys like Styles, Samoa Joe, Chris Daniels, Team Canada, Elix Skipper and the rest of the X-division to really set them apart from WWE's product. It damn sure isn't going to beat them by using Jeff Jarrett, Kevin Nash(ugh) and Monty Brown, although their world title picture is at least more interesting now with Raven as champion and Rhyno challenging. For my money, Ring of Honor, booked by ECW alum Gabe Sapolsky, is the new alternative, much like ECW was back in the day. The only difference is ROH is all about a very realistic(stiff) almost japanese-style, with all the best high spot artists, and a few hardcore matches that are called "blood feuds". If you love the SPORT of professional wrestling, then check out Ring of Honor. End of Rant
10. Yep, I remember that he disappeared suddenly then reappeared years later as "Big D" and fought Booker T in WCW. The only thing was when he came back as "Big D" he had the hugest beer belly and was totally out of shape. Weren't there stories that he constantly worked stiff against other wrestlers and was considered unsafe to work with? 326255 Yeah, Ahmed was pretty dangerous to himself and others as well(but STILL not as dangerous as Goldberg, ask Bret Hart). I remember "Shotgun Saturday Night" when he Pearl River Plunged D-Lo Brown on top of a car. He pretty much had to be helped off the car because he hurt himself(again). I actually believe Ahmed never actually completed any feud he was in because he kept getting hurt. But Vince McMahon LOVES big hosses like him, so we are force-fed goons like him and Chris Masters, Tyson Tomko, Gene Snitsky,Heidenreich..... Oh well at least we have Ring of Honor and to a lesser extent TNA for some REAL professional wrestling.
11. I would LOVE to see Jericho get another run with the belt, but I am pretty sure that he is taking some time off after Summerslam and they are already advertising Cena vs Angle title matches in some markets. It seems to me that Jericho is winding his in-ring career down and focusing on Fozzy(ugh..) and other activities. While I am glad that he did have a run with the belt, he was booked so poorly during his reign and as been used to put over so much talent since then, I don't think anyone will ever take him seriously again.
12. You had to bring that up, didn't you? 316608 Sorry, WWE's Un-Creative dept. is just really depressing. From lame-ass gimmicks like that to the Boogeyman, I see no light at the end of the tunnel. I miss the days of ECW and watch my Pioneer DVD's and videotapes all the time. I really think that unless TNA pulls a rabbit out of its' hat (being 20 mill in the hole, I doubt it), the WWE thinks that this and crap like the Diva search is what fans want to see. I USED to think that Vince McMahon was a egomaniac/genius, now I'm sure he is just an egomaniac who has ruined the business and hired TV/Sitcom writers(who have NO IDEA of the concept of the "sport" aspect) to script wrestling angles ...
13. Yeah, while Cena's promos can be funny at times, he is still green in the ring. I could've SWORE he had more moves than that in OVW , maybe it is the "WWE style" that is hampering him(ask RVD about that). I would love to see Jericho get the strap and then let Cena chase him for it, until HHH shows up to lay claim to it . I don't see them taking the strap off of him because they see him as a "break-out/crossover" star, but they are doing the whole "unworthy" champ thing that they did with Austin, and he dropped it a few times so anything is possible. Oh well, anything is better than JBL as champ, honestly how can WWE justify letting him hold THE belt(not HHH's made-up Raw title) for 10 months and not even let RVD get a whiff of it?? . Anyway, did anyone see another OVW talent with a HORRIBLE gimmick "The Con-Man"? Having seen it, how much longer until the rest of the Village People show up??
14. I dunno about that... I don't see much different between either of them when it comes to wrestling. How much wrestling does a guy of that stature need to do? Stone Cold got over with just 3 moves: punch, kick, Stunner! You can't really say that Stone Cold had a Malenko-like repetoire of moves but it was his personality that got him over. For Batista, he's basically the same big guy with limited moves that they have out there, but at least he can appear to be intense. Lesnar's mic skills have always been questionable and he's probably even worse now. His move repertoire isn't anything different as far as I can see from other big guys like Goldberg or Batista. 311170 I gotta disagree, living just north of Louisville, I got to see Brock quite a bit as he was developing in OVW, and while he had an array of power moves, he also mastered a Shooting Star Press!!! Now granted, "on the big stage" of Wrestlemania, he muffed it up against Angle and damn near broke his neck in the process. That is why I was heartbroken when he left; he was leaps and bounds better at his age and stage of development than any "big man" I had ever seen. He is MILES ahead of Dave Batista and I am a fan of Batista, and if given the chance, he and Batista could have an excellent match(with Brock carrying him). If he can be humbled and not have the industry handed to him on a platter like before, he can have the career that Kurt Angle should have had before the neck injury/surgery. He will never be a great promo man, but really, I watch wrestling to see wrestling, if I want comedy or soap operas, I'll watch those. I'll go back to lurking now...
15. As Keith said, if you want it unedited, here you go: http://www.cookiejarvideo.com/catalog/prod...products_id=339
16. About Champloo's cancellation, wasn't this discussed on page three of this thread and isn't it only in regards to the broadcast on Fuji-TV? Hopefully this is what JawJaw is referring to....
17. I know what you mean, the WWE just keeps making it harder and harder to like wrestling. Has anybody caught NWA-TNA's new show on Fox Sports? I never felt like paying 10 bucks a week for their pay per views, but I am really enjoying the X division matches. A.J. Styles is amazing and will probably end up in a wheelchair before he's 40, much like the rest of the division. Why can't the WWE put on cruiserweight-style matches like this? Oh wait, I know why, 5 minute rest-holds(I'm looking at you HHH) are much more exciting than triple-corkscrew moonsaults.
18. This is a pretty popular topic over on the official Voltron message boards. They are making the mistake of justifying the cost for this thing by bringing up the fact that Toynami is promising it to have plenty of die cast. Us here at Macrossworld have heard these claims before obviously(MPC "Veritech" anyone?). When I brought this up, just to make sure that no one gets disappointed or misled, it was not taken very well. Oh well, they'll learn the hard way I guess
19. Keith, I have the Gunbuster disc, would you want a copy of it? If so, PM me.
20. Well, I love bootlegs, and I don't know what you consider "old school", I am guessing 70's anime. I do know, from reading the Arcticnightfall HK message boards that a few of the bootleggers had their factories raided in the last year, but I don't think that is the problem. The trend now is either something that they release is very new(as in horrible, taped off of TV and slapped onto DVD with crappy subs) or direct rips of Region 1 discs which makes things nice and easy for them. And until they realize that people really want alot of this stuff(in my case, GoLion and DairuggerXV) and Toei makes it easily available, which I don't think they will seeing as how they are showing alot of these older shows on their own channel instead of trying to release them on DVD, we are probably SOL. Off the top of my head, from the ones you mentioned, these are all I know of:(some of these are early 80's series) Space Runaway Ideon(early Tomino series) Space Battleship Yamato(which I believe was the last significant release) Science Ninja Team Gatchaman(one of my faves) Mobile Suit Gundam Movie Trilogy Lupin the Third(1st, 2nd, and third series, plus tons of movies) Doraemon Godmars Orguss Macross(Animeigo rip ) That's all I got, but I am sure you can probably dig up more info on any of the various forums on sites like www.importanime.com or www.arcticnightfall.com. Hope this helps!!
21. Since the big rumor going around is that the WWE is bringing back ECW, it doesn't suprise me that Heyman promptly "quit". If anyone can take all the underutilized talent of the WWE and make them interesting chracters, it is Heyman.
22. That was probably the last thing that the WWE did that I actually enjoyed. Austin playing this chickensh##t heel and constantly competing with Angle for Vince's affection. The look on Vinnie Mac's face when Austin would hug him was priceless
23. The plot thickens surrounding Brock Lesnar. Most sites are now reporting that Lesnar made an "emotional" speech before the Smackdown tapings last night announcing that he was quitting after Wrestlemania. The kicker is, he is going to attempt a career in the NFL???? I don't see Vinne Mac putting two guys(Goldberg/Lesnar) in a match at 'Mania with both being disgruntled and leaving the company after the match, too risky. I'd say the whole Lesnar thing is a work to try and get some sort of "anything-can-happen" vibe for WM 20. If it is true though, they are in big trouble, well maybe Triple H can work both shows and hold both belts, seeing as his belt is meaningless anyway...
24. I just think that it is BS that the people who pre-ordered the 9 disc set were "rewarded" by watching the price drop astronomically not long afterward. I love my set, but I would definitely buy this bootleg set if I didn't already own the originals.
25. It's on their clearance page, here: http://store.yahoo.com/animenation-sale/to...s---models.html
