  1. Haha that gave me a right chuckle, Snail. My fiancée looked at me funny when I slipped in a dozen photos I took of my valks when we ordered some to be printed online. I guess it's not really ok to do that when they are engagement photos in question.

  2. Wow, I'm surprised the SV-51 took the lead here. It's not a traditionally pretty bird, and the 25/27 designs are arguably sleeker, if sleek is to be taken as "more aerodynamic". The SV-51's battroid clinches it for me, though.

You've got a good point there. But then again, to me the 27 looks like a fish(smoother surfaces, more curved and blended surfaces) but the 51 looks like a bird of prey. In fact, the 27 looks like an awesome sub. :p

  3. Why would any valk carry a pistol with lower ballistic properties due to smaller barrel length when it could be packing another gunpod? What about the VF-22? Metal Siren?

I know we're talking about sci-fi here but valks in battroid mode are more like mobile tanks rather than infantry. A bayonet/knife might be prudent if you ran out of gunpod ammo but in all seriousness you might as well RTB to reload instead of drawing a pistol that has a very limited amount of ammo, fire rate(try shooting down 20 incoming missiles with a pistol) and armor penetration capabilities.

Or you can have two or more gunpods. ^_^

Sorry to digress even further from the topic.

  4. Shock cones? Does that mean it was meant to go much faster?

Oh, and Uxi, I got the Italeri 1/72 YF-23. I bought two when I saw it in the shop years ago, thinking that noone would make em again.

I've got a Tamiya 1/72 YF-23 kit which I'm too nervous to touch laying around in my parents' place. Does anybody know if it's an accurate representation?

  5. all this talk about gerwalk mode looking funny, that's what it is!!! fighter with legs and arms, able to vtol and catch falling brats! Gerwalk is THE mode.

Oh I'm a fan of the gerwalk mode, god knows I've got most of my valks displayed in that mode. It's just that none of them has that weird and unsightly gap in the fuselage.

That said it's not the toy's fault so I'll be keeping a keen eye on this.

  6. Man....that is almost totally worthless. It might as well be in Klingon.

    Here's my version...

It is ridiculously costing without concern to dollars how much make. Today is the day of the Otaku. If the Otaku dispense with food eating, and payment of rent to land lord and agreeance to work buy light of wax torch and utilize coffee can for poops...can affordable for great justice. Unit is expecting to movement in excess of quantity: 2.

Haha that gave me a right chuckle.

  7. Man this thing looks sweet! Look at that tiny little ankle joint, guessing that will be die-cast. Gotta say though, the 19 series gerwalk mode always looked like an after thought to me.

    Chris

Yeah G-mode always seems to be mid transformation between battroid and fighter mode to me, especially with the conspicuous mid fuselage gap. It still looks very sweet though. I hate the ankle vernier rings so here's hoping for a VF-19A.

  8. That's scary! The SV-51 is a beauty, but its just so intricate that I would assume it's super fragile! Luckily your 51 is okay! That would have given me a heart attack if it were my Valk!

By the way, which version of the 51 is it?

The best version there is - the CF :). Yeah I expected the worst when I heard the crash, but apparently it landed feet first because all the feet thruster claws were bent at ridiculous angles and the torso was unlocked. Thankfully no permanent damage was done and moments later it was "flying" majestically in fighter mode on the Flightpose stand.

I might just get another triple set of them awesome stands.

  9. My SV-51 dropped 5 feet when it slipped off the stands in B mode, luckily there is nary a scratch. However it was probably due to my bad not balancing it properly. My other valks are still perched after a week. They may not be as great as the first version but it's still the best way to display a valk in fighter mode, banking etc.

  10. That would be pretty awesome, actually. They have some great schemes in there.

I still hate the LERX and ankle ring verniers of all the major VF-19 variants though. Just my personal preference. I'm a YF-19 guy, and Isamu Dyson is pretty much my idol.

Also pinning for a low-vis or CF schemes. And yeah the ankle rings are one of my pet peeves, gives the valks a bell-bottom look. Argh.
