  1. I understand that you were referin' to a toy. The 1:48 makes up for its lack of metal with its numerous other strengths. (I suppose you would prefer an ABS plastic swingbar?) ahem-- my obsession with die-cast has to do with G1 Transformers, Vintage Takatoku Valks, Binaltechs, MPC Convoy, SoCs, Doyushas, 1:60's and a few other "classic" toys my obsession with Yamatos switching to die-castlessness (that's alot of suffix) has to do with zoids, gundam actionfigures, beyblade, G.I. joe, digimon, Mcfarlane toys, and many, many other toys that aren't worth a nice displaycase, or even owning (unless you're 7) I know I go on and on, but each of my posts has been in response to another post. Despite what Vostok 7 thinks, I love all the Yammie Valks that have come out so far, I am saddened that Yamato is choosing to move from the "classic" catagory to the "made to amuse toddler for 1 sec. max" catagory. I liked that there was a toy company that made so many wonderful collectibles. -le sigh Dear fans of low quality toys, do not be offended... I collect transformers, so I am one of you, it's just that... Yamato is special, you know...
  2. this is why people build models... that's the problem with this section, model making, and toy collecting are two DIFFERENT hobbies with completely seperate reasons for amusing Macross fanboys. there should be seperate sections, custom toys should be posted in both. P.S. I know there is a model section.
  3. somehow, my valk purchase becomes money for them... But that's not the point, I'm not threatening yamato with my wallet... (it's like if you drop something, you know it will fall... it's not threatening you with gravity so that you'll change your mind about dropping it) I personally love everything about the 1:60 scale Valks I've defended the 1:48 on numerous occasions I'm not a fan of focus group either, but why can't I express my opinions on these boards? what's your deal? you're glad Yamato doesn't listen to me? good for you. You feel a need to tell me over and over that Yamato is too busy being perfect to read my posts? I didn't think they were reading my posts, and if your going to continue to hound me about my opinion, you should start your own thread about how everything I post is ignorant, or you can just quote me and rolleyes. you'll have to put it in another section, though, this one is for posts about macross toys, NOT what an idiot you think I am.
  4. i coulda' sworn that I was quoting YOUR posts. this fanboy has had nothing but positive things to say about Yamato until the 1:100 appeared. according to what I've seen of the Japanese boards, they don't like the 1:100 VF-0 either, calling it an expensive banpresto and "the suck" you make some good arguements, but 1) diecastless yf-19fp will cost as much, if not more than the earlier version (if there is any sort of price drop, i'm betting it's gonna' be completely insignificant) 2) I assume (look at the monkey, assuming again ) that your talking about the 1:60's heavylegs, I've noticed that in gelwalk and battaloid modes my 1:60s have a very low center of gravity (according to physics, this is not an undesirable state for something that you would want to "not fall over") 3) I've yet to notice ONE complaint from even the most irritable fanboy about the lack of detail in the 1:60 scale due to materials (I thought detail was one of the 1:60's selling points when it came out) I look at my yf-21 and think about all the hate that the fanboys throw at it, and I think "why all the fuss? this toy is great" in fact, it's one of my favorite toys. Take away its die-cast content, however, and you're right, it wouldn't be such a great toy... it'd be like all the $5 transformers, Yu-gi-oh, and Beyblades.
  5. You wouldn't have bought it anyway... Personally, I'm with Graham. The diecast in the 1/60's does very little for me, but it does make the toys difficult to handle. I would have pre-ordered it and found out that I was holding the valk equivalent to a Gundam archenemy action figure after it was too late. the difference is, the gundam costs $15 (and it isn't even worth that) anyways, why argue? they stop with the diecast on their smaller scale toys, I stop buying. bottom line
  6. Don't you just love coming to very early assumptions? You know what happens when you assume, don't you? Vostok 7 hey vostok 7, some people are entitled to their own opinions. You may notice that I don't feel a need to roll my eyes and insult you whenever you say anything. If you wanna' make fun of me on these boards just PM all your friends about what a PooHead I'm supposed to be, but I don't wanna' read it!
  7. Don'tcha just love ignorance? Vostok 7 don't you just love insulting other members of the board?
  8. hold on... the YF-19fp will be mainly die-cast free?! has Yamato lost their minds? I'm supposed to pay out the whazoo for some featherlight, insubstantial piece of crap? who cares how nice it looks IF that's all it's got! I could just look at the picture of them models in that there Hobby magazine and get all the goodness of a die-castless 1:72 Yf-21 FOR FREE! It's the death of an era (a very short era) no more good macross toys... Just model kits (blech!) and pre-assembled by sweat shop worker models (extra blech!) no wonder Yamato won't let Graham tell what they've been planning. If this is true, they've lost a customer!!!!!!!!!
  9. aka factory assembled models but less accurate and all around poopee The 1/48 is good like that, but these little Gundam wannabes.... wwwwwwwhy!!! Yamato used to make such great toys remember those days when a Yamato was better than a MSiA or a $5 transformer from wal-mart?
  10. I hope there's some news like that to admit... OK, it's not dead. happy? Graham I'm gettin' there!! so, Graham... TELL ME ALL YOU KNOW!!!! I won't tell anybody else. I promise
  11. I fear they may be abandoning YF-19fp toys
  12. I hope there's some news like that to admit...
  13. I agree 100% I normally praise, in fact watch this: Yamato 1:60 rule, they're all die-cast loaded and little. All you people who don't like Yamato 1:60 can SUCK IT! Yamato 1:48 rule! they're huge and articulate and poseable and transform better than the real thing. personally, I think the battaloid mode of the 1:48 looks BETTER than the line art. All you people who don't like Yamato 1:48 can SUCK IT! Ban-Dai re-issues rule! you get this moumental toy with die cast, a good heft, and a great transformation. Chunkey Monkeys represent all that I love in a toy. And the re-issues are NEW and PERFECT, with plasticy oils still present when you open up the box (which you have no problem doing, it's not like the re-issue cast $500+ or so) and all the details are printed on the valk! HOW COOL IS THAT?! (correct answer: incredibly cool) All you people who don't like Ban-Dai 1:55 re-issues (or vintage, for that matter) can SUCK IT! Banprestos rule, they're better than a 1:100 VF-0S, and they cost less than half as much Toynami veritechs... can SUCK IT! (I can only praise so much) See how positive I can be? I want to start being positive... Graham, PM me all you know
  14. By the read of Grahams post it seems that he does still know stuff. But you know what? WTF DOES IT MATTER TO ME IF GRAHAM KNOWS SOMETING THAT HE WON'T TELL!!! What's the point? to make me feel inferior? I come to this site and type out all my ignorance so that those who know can chuckle to themselves about how much more they know than me? maybe you're right though, and Graham doesn't know anything until he reads it in Degenki Hobby... but then he's just comming to this site to pretend that he knows more than us? WTF?!
  15. waiting for the unknown gives no impetus to waiting. my motivation dwindles without a reason to wait... my patience is stretched... i wait years for these things quietly. my mind has to make up something to wait for.... a 1:48 VF-0 or YF-19 perhaps. Graham says "i know something you don't know" and I wait for him to tell me what it is, but he's not going to. Then what I've been waiting for is revealed! IT'S A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT! HOORAY! I've always wanted a big disappointment! Just think, in a few short months I can be the proud owner of some crappy 1:100. or I could pass and begin the wait all over again. Yeah, waiting with no news is THE GREATEST!!!!!!
  16. waiting is NOT better with no idea what you are waiting for.
  17. I hope the yf-19fp hasn't gone the way of the 1:60 fastpack upgrades! But if it has, it proves my point, low sales of the first toy result in cancellations of all subsequent toys. I hope all of you buy lots of 1:100 vf-0s so I will get a chance to throw large sums of money at yamato again.... <_
  18. I don't think Yamato will go out of business or be unable to make better macross zero toys if I don't buy this crap... I think that if yamato loses any money on macross zero toys they will not make any more macross zero toys due to the fact that they figure they won't be profitable. they'll stick to making little anime girl statues, escaflownaes, and other crap... they'll be fine. WE, however, will be left with VF-1s beyond exhaustion and then no more macross toys. The ONLY message I can send to Yamato with my wallet now is: "Don't make any macross toys other than VF-1's" that is NOT the message I want to send. Yamato has (on this site) specifically stated that they will test the waters on non-vf-1 toys, that all plans of making enemy mecha, mac +, mac 0 toys are based on preliminary sales of test toys. I personally can't wait for that yf-19fp... but where is it? well, how well did the yf-21fp and vf-11fp sell? I know alot of people here have them, but alot of people don't. In fact, the reaction here was to complain about them. even Graham's review bashed the yf-21fp. and we're the nice bbs! what did the Japanese boards say about those toys? could it have been as negative as their reaction to the 1:100? And now look, where is the YF-19fp? how many months have gone by without us hearing ANY news whatsoever about it? Will it come out at all? Yamato is alive and well, but I am toyless
  19. Well, the greatest way to tell Yamato that you don't like their product is with your wallet. Not buying it sends a stronger message than any whine or rant on an internet forum ever can. Let Yamato pay the price for their lack of vision. ...did that just come out of my mouth? I don't want Yamato to pay a price for making macross zero toys. if they do, they won't make better ones, they won't make any.... there's a reason why the bigger better VF-0 hasn't been officially announced. If we don't buy this crap now, we won't get the good stuff EVER
  20. maybe they should slow down the big ticket releases, but they should definitly speed up announcements... and we should get to hear news here too... I get so annoyed when I read all these assumptions and denials for months and then some toy store put up a pre-order for next week or something and that's how we hear about the release on Macrossworld... we used to come here for a lot of things, one of which was news... but recently it's no news, just bitchin (myself included) why couldn't Graham mention that the m&m's were definitly comming out? would it have hurt Yamato so bad? think about it. there's all these people on these boards who know things and rejoice in their eliteness.. recently comming to this site has served to make me feel like some loser, "what's comming out?" I'd say, "What could it be?" and the people who know say "If you were to know (that m&m's are comming soon or there is going to be a vf-0 toy) the universe will collapse, Macrossworld will cease to be, and Yamato will stop making toys.... besides I know what is comming up and that should satisfy you I mean thaat's why you come here, right? to make posts that no one responds to, look at customs that you can't have, and find out if we know more than you, right?" and then other second-class Macrossworlders say "How dare you want to know what's goin' on? can't you see that Graham is busy? In fact, if you're askin' questions you must be annoyed slightly at the lack of news on this site... HOW DARE YOU!!!! YOU SHOULD LEAVE THIS SITE AND NEVER COME BACK!!! if you're asking questions now, who knows what it could lead to: expressions of SLIGHT annoyance? or even worse, type in all caps? how will my eyes recover if i read some text in all caps? I could be scarred for life! BTW Congratulations, (insert mods name here) on your (insert something good here)." P.S. this rant was typed with a spirit of levity, its not meant to offend
  21. I only compare the 1:100 to Hasegawa kit to illustrate the point that, being a toy, the Yamato is already grossly inaccurate... I don't have a problem with that. I DO, however, have a problem with the compromises to its transformation scheme made in order to try and preserve the accuracy that it doesn't have. why not just make the toy as accurate as possible with a perfect transformation? so what if it's a little bit bumbly looking? that would just add to its charm. BTW the hasegawa kit is non transforming, but as far as I can tell you don't transform the 1:100 either... you take it apart and re-build it into a different mode... take off nose, head, legs... fold tailfin... re-attach head, legs, and nose in new battaliod positions. doesn't seem to me that there's that much transforming goin' on there. and 40$ from japan to my local anime shop will end up costing me 50 or 60 bucks.... not exactly cheap considering what I'd get. I know the old arguement "don't like it? Don't buy it" and I wish I could pass on this toy, but when everyone passes on it and it's a big flop, Yamato might decide to not produce that other version you're not telling us about... and I will be a sad fanboy.
  22. Alternators only cost $20 US also
  23. I hope you aren't being sarcastic, no one ever likes my posts. I'm a nerd among geeks. and a chunky monkey VF-0 would totally rule, none of my bitchin' would apply to such a toy. I'd buy MULTIPLES!
  24. they never lived and yet, ther're still soooooooooo annoying that imagining their extinction gives me pleasure.
  25. but they are still alive in the movie. My conclusion: Ewoks, Endor, the Death Star, giant robots, and giant robot weaponry are fiction. goddams and valkeries do not fire any calibur of anything, seeing as they are imaginary. In a real fight between a Gundam and a Valk, the Gundam would make more money thereby winning and BanDai would stop making valks... oh yeah, that actually happened
