  1. me and my sister just started that series the other day, actually. maybe 15eps in by now? pissin' me off that HARLOCK keeps refusing to take that sweet little bobble-headed girl with him, insisting on leaving her in decidedly abusive foster care instead...
  2. when i got my ZETA, it was just shy of $200shipped off the BAY. i dunno if i might've found a better deal elsewhere, probably could've, but it was still the most expensive model kit i've ever gotten, and probably will remain as such. BOY what an assembly EXPERIENCE, though! and here i used to think that PG's were complicated...
  3. i didn't realize they had a PG of that one out for so long. thought it was a recent release. had i known, i might have went for it over the ZETA which i got back around 2009. the GP01 always has been neck-and-neck with the Z as my favorite GUNDAM design... also, how long does it usually take HLJ to get an order processed and on it's way? i got the 1/72 1S there, $60.00shipped for 4-day shipping, via PAYPAL. had to wait over the weekend for an ORDER CONFORMATION. when do they usually send the bill? i wanna get it on it's way ASAP...
  4. WOW. seeing the actual kit like that really gets me all boned over it. really glad now i got one coming. further, i WANT that PG 1/60 GP01... do i dare to presume that poster was included in the box?
  5. it really does? wow... hard for me to imagine a variable VF-1 toy/model head that tucks in in FIGHTER more flush than the 1/60v.II 1J...
  6. actually, the Yammie 1J head sculpt is Perfection itself, IMO... well, for starters; a nose cavity plug system that doesn't require a removable part, a gunpod underbelly attachment method that doesn't require a removable part, and a GERWALK leg design at least as functional and effective the Yammie 1/60v.II. for all that, i'm still looking very much forward to my own copy of this kit, despite better judgement. for my own part, i'll just be lumping it in with the other ugly ducklings of the VF-1 world out there such as the 1/55 Chunkies and the 1/72 HCMs. retarded yet lovable additions to the existing VF-1 stable that add a little exotic spice to the mix...
  7. there is no irony. a properly executed scale replica of a "Real Robot" Mecha design (such as the YAMATO VF-1 1/60ver.II) should, by all rights, be so precisely engineered that it should impart an ultimate suspension of disbelief. in other words, it should come close to convincing you that such a machine could and should in fact actually exist, despite better judgement. that, IMHO, is the essence of "Real Robot" Mecha design, nothing "Cartoony" about it in the least... compared to today's offerings, the 1/55 Chunkies and 1/72 HCMs are indeed Butt Ugly. still, there is a charm about them that us old farts tend to appreciate; call it Nostalgia, or whatever you will...
  8. i just consider it important mostly because my very first introduction to the VF-1 was via a poorly painted/completed ARII/REVELL "ROBOTECH CHANGERS" "VEXAR" 1/72 variable VF-1S kit that one of my nephews gave me as a pre-teen back around 1988/1989ish. kind of neat to have the opportunity to come full circle after a fashion, after 20+ years, with the very first 1/72 variable VF-1 model in like 30 years now?
  9. i went ahead and canceled my pre-order of the upcoming Focker 1S version, and ordered this Hikaru no.1 from HLJ. i might as well have the very first edition of this kit, complete with the DYRL Minmay figure and all. i might just get the strike armor set down the road too, considering how iconic of DYRL this version actually is, final battle against Boldolza and all...
  10. i remember that scene. i recall Dyson's 11B being in Bmode with the cockpit shield fully open/tucked away and Dyson's seat still in F position glaring upwards and ahead through his helmet's transparent visor at Bowmann's 21 as he was barreling his 11B straight at it...
  11. actually, i shift my 19S to BATTROID as a matter of course without implementing the seat-rotation feature. everything fits just fine. for one, i don't want to put too much wear on that delicate little canopy hinge. nor do i want to risk damaging it in any way during transformation.. for two, the fact that the canopy cannot close with the seat in BATTROID position bothers me to no end. i mean, exactly how the hell is the pilot supposed to be shifting to B in space or non-breathable atmosphere without a pressurized flight suit or at least an oxygen mask!?! (i'm looking at you, Basara Nekki...) for my part, i'd rather just pretend that the cockpit remains a pressurized vessel in all modes, and somehow the life-support system compensates for the pilot's awkward positioning in B mode within a normal gravity environment...
  12. - still don't see what all the fuss is all about with those Ankles...
  13. appears to be a sheet each of self-adhesive and water-slide, in addition to a set of reflective foils for the appropriate areas. how generous of BANDAI...
  14. i like what i'm seeing!! still, i'll be so butthurt in the extreme if the Focker i preordered doesn't include that DYRL Minmay!! thank god...
  15. i'm quire satisfied with my VF-19S myself. even at a mere $180shipped from HKC it wasn't exactly cheap, and to have invested in an additional spare copy as i have... i'd say both have cost me just around slightly more than what just ONE would have cost at original MSRP, and probably AT LEAST as much as this new YF will be MSRPing for....
  16. still doesn't allow much at all in the way of hip movement. nothing remotely at all like the Yammie 1/60v.II. gee, i do wonder sometimes if BANDAI attempts to pull shenanigans like this ON PURPOSE. y'know, a real lousy way of trying to say "see how silly this MACROSS stuff actually is? see why we focus our considerable talents on GUNDAM 99.99999% of the time?
  17. there are very few parts they can reuse from the VF-19 molds. for one, you can clearly see the very same wing root/hip joint mount in that CAD mockup as the ones used in the VF-19 series. besides those and perhaps a few other areas, such as the entire hand, arm and shoulder assemblies (less the shoulder pauldrons) and perhaps the diecast knee assemblies, i cannot see much of anything that could possibly carry over...
  18. well, i've the 1/72 HCM's included antenna in there at the moment, but there is a shallow circular depression there an all 1/60v.II backpack modules. i simply took a fresh X-ACTO and carefully reamed it out into a hole...
  19. i've always been rather fond that little detail myself; Correction; VF-19k is a Blasphemous Aberration before God. still, YMMV, Differ'nt Strokes, and all that...
  20. OH GOD!! back, BACK, ye foul Poultry!! BACK I SAY!!!
