I read from animesuki board that Galia 4 is Grace homeworld, but how can this be? AFAIK Galia 4 is only populated by Ranka fans...I mean the 33rd Zentran marine and a bunch of Vajra, I never know that there are some human colonist. This makes me think that Grace is probably part zentraedi or worse.....she's a Vajra turned into a human cyborg, that's why she recalls Ranka as Queen

It's actually little ambiguous and is likely referring to the Global as Grace's birthplace. I say this because they actually show the Global right before the guy says this line. It would also fit with how much she knows about Ranka being q1. Plus it would explain how Brera became her peon.

Title: You may get to see a new Sheryl.

Today I received an offer to be a model for a show.

The offer is to be the new face of a hot new brand that is on the rise on Frontier, so I'm thinking about it.

I don't really want to be tied to one brand.

But, this brand has me a little excited.

They really have a cool way of thinking.

To change the world through what one wears.

I find this quite wonderful.

To change the private face of person as well as the face that they show to the outside world...

...this is quite an important thing.

If you improve only one of these faces, you upset the balance.

It is about one's self,

what is inside as well as what is outside,

one's spirit as well as one's appearance,

by keeping these things in a constant struggle against each other you can reach new heights.

I'm and I will, I think , always be amazed by how we can't help but simply cannot see the same thing in a same scene but we can intrepreting it in a complete opposite point of view. I agree with you when you say She was so excited about giving him something that he really desired that she actually forced herself to go, ok and with : Had he not wanted it, he might have gone to see his father instead( it's obvious since it's his family and Ranka didn't say much about the encounter...) but not with: She was glad that he came because she was unsure of what she would find on Gallia IV regarding the rumored Galaxy survivors<< If so, she could have ask for a real pilot/bodyguard not for Alto ( in episode 12 Alto was not a super, bersek,fighter like now.....so you're right she's a pretty audacious girl for wanting him to protect her )

Actually, I meant that she wanted Alto around for emotional support in case her hopes of finding survivors were crushed, not as security. He is the only one, other than Grace, that knows exactly how much Galaxy means to her. And he is probably the only one to know about the conflicted feelings she has for the place. There's a lot of emotion tied up to Galaxy since she hates it for what it is to her, but it is also her only link to any semblance of a personal history so she can't help but love it as well. With it gone, it is as if she is floating adrift in the vast and lonely universe. She went to Gallia IV to see if she could regain her connection to Galaxy, but she was very much aware that she would likely not find anything. Alto coming made her feel less alone. It's too bad that he was as oblivious as ever and didn't listen when she thanked him.

I have had all these feelings in all things Macross except for 7 and II...

Anyways, my passion was reawakened in December when I saw a raw named Macross Frontier on Tokyotosho so I grabbed and watched it. Well I can tell you that I hadn't felt such a vibe since the first season of the new Battlestar Galactica. Shakes came and went throughout my countless rewatchings. Tears came when I found out I would have to watch *4* months to see the next episode.

Well, now that the series is seemingly half over, I can say that I still get the same emotions except I now fall into a depression after watching each episode and reaches its nadir around Tuesday Pacific Standard Time. There is also the great depression of knowing the Frontier will end relatively soon.

Has anyone been keeping an eye on Ranka's blog lately? Has it gotten any better?

I just checked it out and it's basically the same as always.

She talks about how people have asked her to talk about her recording sessions in one. In another she was bitten by a flea or something, and this flea was attracted to green moving things. That's right, not only does she have green dog ears, but she has the fleas to go with them . In the latest one she talks about how she doesn't have time to read lately because of work. She specifically says that she's not talking about novels, but manga. She's been following an online comic, but Ozma gets mad when she reads for too long so she's been secreting reading it at night. Also the title character was her first love.

All in all, Ranka's blog is pretty much as uninteresting as always.

Hey, at least the new FAST Packs wait around in orbit until you want them again...

Food, environmental conditions,

There are many different types of alergies, right?

Lately, I have come to understand that I have a "petite" alergy.

Understand? "Petite."

Petite tomatoes, petite cosmetic surgery, petite lunches, petite poodles...

Why "petite"? Why "a little"?

Why not just go the allllll the way!!!?

I can love finely detailed beautiful things, but I guess I should stop here with the negative thoughts.

Still, I can't accept things that are made "petite."

But, things that are originally "petite" are fine.

I welcome tiny, adorable things!

Take rice for instance, it's white and small and if you look at it closely it is almost like agate, so I feel it is incredibly cute. (Ok the メノウ and シマシマ kicked my ass in this. I would like to vocalize my incredible hate for all things katakana again.)

Who will win Alto ? In a double game or fair play ?

Well, I don't wish to bring down the conversation to a meaningless war with all the " Ranka is going to win because she is better", or " Sheryl deserves to win if not : it's a shame" blah blah blah... like I have saw in some forums (This, if it's not too late )

But, where did you see that I'm idealizing Ranka ? I don't think I have said anything like this, however of course I prefer Ranka character over than Sheryl 's, which can be considered as a too much liking? I will give you that.

By the way, Ranka's fan don't like her because of her look at first and then her character like you were for sheryl. When I admit that it's pretty difficult to idealize Ranka for her physique, you can' t deny she's good tempered, friendly...We can't all like the same things

For Misa and Hikaru, there was 36 episode and Misa had a first love before Hikaru unlike Sheryl. So for all the people who claim that sheryl is like Misa and Ranka, Minmey, there are right in some way with the scene when Hikaru saves Minmey with an open cockpit just like alto and Ranka at the beginning or the Miss Macross Contest wich bring us back to the main topic : with who alto will end up with ?

We can't compare SDF Macross with Macross Frontier but we can find similarites in many aspect like the naturalness of Ranka and Misa which can be oppose to the artificiality of Minmey and Sheryl( I'm talking about the outfit in episode 12 with the breast which just jut out from...)

I've seen quite a few Ranka fans who seem to love her character design and she is obviously designed to appeal to a certain segment of anime watchers so I don't think you should try to use this as a point in your favor.

You try to make it seem as if Sheryl's appearance is my sole reason for liking her as a character when it isn't. I said that what piqued my interest in her was seeing her character design. This was before I had seen even the first episode so there was no way I could have known what she was like. Plus, being interested in a character does not necessarily mean that I would have actually liked her character. What actually made me like her as a character was when she pulled herself together to appear before the press when she was obviously feeling pretty shitty. It was that show of determination that gave me a hint of what a strong person she would turn out to be.

Your claim that Sheryl does not resemble Misa because Sheryl hasn't had a previous love is a pretty tenuous. Being similar does not mean she is a carbon copy of Misa. By similarity I mean that she gives the impression of being very strong willed career woman who is quite out of her territory when it comes to personal relationships.

So you don't like Sheryl's sexual persona and prefer the moe-stars that seem to seep out of every one of Ranka's? Come on, they each cater to different segments of the Macross world as well as the TV watching audience. Calling Sheryl silly without giving Ranka the same treatment isn't all that fair.

As I said earlier, when people speak of similarities between characters, they don't necessarily mean that the two characters are caught in identical situations, but that they share many of the same qualities as a character.

I am not sure where you are trying to go with this. You commented that Sheryl was not so independent because she wouldn't be able to survive on her own without Grace and faulted her for having other people do things for her.

Well you're right you have a point here , but she is perfectly aware of Ranka 's feeling for Alto( I hate this kind of sentences but just for make you understand..) and just plays the role of the big sister for after stabing her in the back.. Sheryl nome is such a busy body person between her role as " friend" with Ranka, until she plays the card of the " Alto's girl" until the " Star Sheryl" , of course she has high expectations !!

Sheryl hasn't given Ranka any advice with regards to her personal life. That role is filled by Nanase. She has only offered career advice to Ranka along with offers of aid.

Title: School Swimsuit.

Up until now I have never had to buy something because it was required before so this is fun.

Would this be called "school teaching materials"?

Yesterday, I got a swimsuit.

In layman's terms, a school swimsuit.

What a fresh design!

More specifically, a swimsuit that covers the waist can be nothing but a direct challenge to a young woman.

If she doesn't have the right look it will immediately show. (I don't know what スットーン means so if anyone would like to offer some help, I'd be awfully grateful)

I tried on some of the available school swimsuits, but none of them fit so I had one custom made.

It seems that it was to be put on the chest in white embroidery...Huh?

This all happened today.

Ideal VS Virtual Reality

I agree with you, allowing that their ideal (for girls and boys) of hot,cunning woman just prevent them to see what is simply obvious.

You can also say that they're the same who love to compare Ranka and Minmey(pretending that the guy often end up with the adult/mature ? one) but de facto, Misa is obviously more natural than Sheryl and as natural as Ranka who seems to take of the two old female character in SDF M.

You say this even though you do the same thing in idealizing Ranka. Sheryl is far from perfect and most of her fans can readily admit this. It is just that her pluses far outweigh her minuses in our books. Come on, while Misa wasn't quite so inexperienced with personal relationships as Sheryl is, she was just as awkward when she was confronted by her feelings for Hikaru. I'm not actually sure what you are trying to say when you use "natural" so I can't really touch on that.

Please, don't exaggerate. While Sheryl doesn't have very much experience taking care of mundane things like laundry by herself, it is obvious that she is pretty intelligent. Living on your own doesn't have much of a learning curve. And be fair, no one with a career like Sheryl's going to be able to take care of everything themselves, but she knows how to delegate responsibility of certain aspects of her career to others.

Well, Sheryl wants to be with Alto because he offers her something that she's never had before, a real friend. The thing is though, she doesn't cling to him for support the way that Ranka seems to do, she just wants to spend time with him. Do you really believe that she actively seeks to interfere with Ranka's time with Alto? As I said before, I don't think that Ranka enters into her plans when it comes to Alto, well, until episode 12 that is. Alto told her flat out that he wasn't dating Ranka and specifically said that he didn't have a girlfriend. That's plenty good enough excuse for her to try and get more time with someone that treats her like she's just Sheryl instead of Sheryl Nome. I don't think she overrates herself. She has very high expectations of "Sheryl Nome" and does what it takes to force herself to live up to the expectations of that role.

It's little queen. In the irc channel during the broadcast three of us said "little queen" right after Grace's line. Where did "beetle queen" come from anyway?

While Sheryl's HOTNESS is certainly what piqued my interest in the beginning of the show, it is not my sole reason for liking her so much. Her strength and independence are her most attractive qualities. She is human so the hits that she take affect her, but she pulls herself back up to do what is necessary. She does not wait for things to come to her, but instead puts the effort to try and reach her goals through her own power. There is an edge to her personality that makes her seem very adult which probably comes from growing up without any close relations and that maturity is also very appealing. Anyways, while looks are what usually catches a person's interest at first, they can be taken only so far before people being to lose interest.

Not that it matters, but it makes me wonder when they made that decision--was it before or after the first airing of the deculture episode. Sheryl seemed like a whole different person before Episode 3.

This was still in the very early planning stages of the show. Yoshino Hiroyuki was still looking at Kawamori's notes when he got the change implemented.

So is there anything useful in those magazine articles are all they just interviews with the cast and stuff we already know?

Well one thing that comes out in the interview is that Frontier was supposed to have a triangle like Plus' i.e. 2 guys and a girl. Sheryl wasn't originally supposed to be a love interest, but the guy who did the script composition didn't think it would be interesting or very attractive so got Kawamori to change it. Sheryl was originally only supposed to be someone that Ranka admired, but they ended up doing a DYRL Minmei vs. TV series Minmei thing. I for one am glad that this happened.

Title: I feel lethargic...

What does it mean to be busy?

There are people who's favorite saying is "I'm busy," right?

And of course there are people who ask "Have you been busy lately?"

What is with that?

Why are they asking such a thing?

If someone answers that they are not busy, do these people secretly think, "Serves you right," or something?

Do they feel the person that sends people off to their "busy" days is admirable?

These types of people have something wrong with their points of references.

Even if someone has only a minor amount of work each day, the question of whether they are "busy" or "not busy" depends on how they feel, their time management abilities, and their ability to deal with situations.

Even for a conversation with other people, this is one of the silly subjects. "I'm busy." Really...

That's why I won't let them know. Whether Sheryl Nome is busy or not busy, that is.

My answer is to smile and say, "Do not worthy, it is the same as always."

But if it is the "same as always" all the time, I end up not being able to hear what my body is telling me.
