I wish they sick with the original G1 toy. I don't really get the appeal here. The charm of a reissue is that it's the same toy I had as a kid. If you change the colors to look more like the cartoon, it's not the toy I had as a kid anymore. If I'm after a toy that better resembles the cartoon I'll buy a modem toy that has better proportions and articulation.
Seriously. That Shrapnel is just gross, despite being literally the same toy I had as a kid.

Yes....however, being licensed by HG has yet to stop any company from adding Japanese SDF Macross logos to their packaging if they so desire....
What would actually be more surprising would be to see BW actually provide a SDFM license to a non-Japanese company doing business with HG....as far as I know it would be a first
HG has merchandise rights for SDF outside Japan, if I recall correctly.

along with a demographic breakdown of voting by sex and age.
And as I recall, the age slices of the pie were pretty close to the top entries on the list. It looked like most folks' favorite Macross was "the TV show airing when I was young"

I can't get over the head. It's rounded where it should be angular, making it bulbous and causing the camera to look way too small since it now has a huge forehead instead of no forehead. (the curve makes the head go up from the glass instead of back from the glass)
I don't understand how they got to where they did, unless their goal was to "fix" the 1J head by making it more anthropomorphic. The curved design gives it more volume and makes it vaguely plausible as a helmet, like the 1S head. But I can't imagine there's many people that want a 1J that DOESN'T have a wedge for a head.

I don’t know if I could pass on a scientist Shockwave with an eyepatch though.
Oh heck, that'd get me to stop admiring the art and buy in too.

Hasbro should know that I'm available to hire to run their Transformers division, and I can start immediately. I don't have a ton of experience running a brand, but I have a lot of ideas that seem to resonate with other fans... stuff like "Don't screw up Breakdown," "Scourge should be colored the same as the animation," "what if, before we get into the really obscure G1 deep cuts, we did a Deluxe-class Gears?" and "what if, instead of making up a bunch of new Junkions to push a gimmick, we just made a Deluxe-class Gears?"
They'll give you a corner office as President of Make a Deluxe-class Gears.

So this isn't quite related directly to the topic, but I just saw that HLJ has shows there FINALLY being a reissue of the 1/72 White Glint kit, sometime early next year.
Given the current insane prices, I'm tempted to pick up a couple just as an investment.

Several of their old AC models are being reissued. They're also making new ones for AC6.

Apparently, Kotobukiya unveiled the next Bishoujo Transformer design, and it's everyone's favorite backstabber
to genderswap in fanficsto repaint in toylinesStarscream. I think it's the best in the line so far, in terms of capturing personality and original design. Though they're still too rich for my blood.I really like this one. The wings-as-purse and canopy-as-tie give her a vague schoolgirl vibe(in one of those anime schools where there's no uniform for recurring characters, and the dress code allows bare midriffs), and I can't not hear her going "Of COURSE I'm not questioning your leadership, Megatron-senpai!"
Weirdly, the decepticons are 2/2 on high-heels while the autobots are 0/2. But after all these years of walking on exhaust nozzles, Starscream kinda HAD to have high heels just as surely as Optimus HAD to have boots.

Jean-Luc Picard's signature antagonist has always been Q. Q was TNG's first AND last villain, and he had more face time with Picard than any other character. Even when he was on other Trek shows, Q always found a way to work Picard into whatever he was doing.
It is kinda funny that Q is Picard's signature antagonist, when Q considered Picard the closest thing in the universe he had to a friend.
...
Was Q just tsundere?

It has been a very long time. I remember Suncoast had the Macross Plus valks, and then the legalese hissyfits started and everything stopped.

Good news for anyone who didn't want to buy a dead Prowl to get a G2 Wildrider... turns out he's actually coming with a dead Ironhide instead.
Still a weird choice, but I respect that they actually did remolds for the fatal wounds. I think it's actually weirder for having two corpses in the box, though.

I love the sense of scale the SDF-1 has in these pics.
It's a giant ship and should look like it. On the outside at least, since it does suffer greatly from Hammerspace and Tardis-like interiors.
Same. There's few shots out there that really emphasize how utterly MASSIVE the dang thing is.

I actually have that set. A nice collection of MIA dinobot weapons, and hands and feet for my headcanon Dino-Soar. Was pleasantly surprised that the two silver blocks for Volcanicus's shoulders are sized almost perfect to fill the gaps in Sky Lynx's torso ribs. They don't lock in, though. I need to rig a GI Joe-esque rubber band and hook solution.
Did I overpay, given half the pieces are completely useless to me? Yeah, I did. Would I do it again? *siiiigh* Yeah, I would.
My set's wrists can't hold the sword either.

If they want a new Titan B, where the heck is Starfleet going to get the raw materials?
They're just going to rename the Enterprise-G that was under construction to Titan-B.
The marking guys are working overtime, since they only just finished painting over the LAST designation. The hull probably started as the Defiant-C.

New tooling to put a hole in his chest, but they couldn't spring for a dash of orange paint in his mouth? Lazy!

As I said, it'd be cool if they struck a deal with Bandai to use the MR toy likenesses for a line of Gobots
My understanding is they don't do anything more than required to re-estblish and maintain the trademarks because they have a very good working relationship with TakaraTomy and don't want to hurt it by making deals with TT's biggest rival.
Which SUCKS.

I don't think Rock Lords is a line that too many fans are clamoring for. I don't believe they sold well back in the 80s when all things transformable were the rage.
I was kinda joking. I wouldn't mind seeing a Rock Lords revival(or is that a reunion tour), but am aware there's not much nostalgia for them.
5 hours ago, M'Kyuun said:Both companies are restricted to characters from Revenge of Cronos, which may be the only MR property Bandai holds.
Bandai owns all of Machine Robo uncontested. My understanding is that Revenge of Cronos is just the most popular of the Machine Robo cartoons. If they're gonna waste time licensing out toy robots not from Gundam or Super Sentai, they may as well go for the biggest puddle.
Hasbro owns the Go-Bots names and setting, not the original toys(but WB owns the US cartoon).

if that is the iron rule, the next logical progression would probably be a vtuber/vsinger.
So... Sharon Apple?
We're in an odd place where life is imitating art and Macross has become prophetic. Plus gave us a sci-fi futuristic virtual idol, and now VTuber is a recognized profession. Frontier showed AI drones flying with a human commander as a "force multiplier", and the Air Force has stated they're currently developing exactly that.

Artemis Prime* combines two of my favorite things, space travel and toy robots, into one glorious existence. I want it now.

So now companies are pushing the narrative that they can break or change contracts if a show doesn’t perform, just as long as that show isn’t out in the wild making money for them? Wut?
That's nothing new for the Mouse. Even when flush with money, they stiff everyone they can get away with.

Ooooh, a new Shockwave toy? Is it a new mold, or just a recolor of Siege?
*hits a search engine*
Ummm... I can't find pictures of this new Shockwave, just some pics of Starscream dressed up as Ultra Magnus that people are CLAIMING is Shockwave? -
In fairness, even if they COULD afford him it isn't like he'd take their call. It's a pretty deep rift there(and one entirely of HG's making).

It's kind of bad timing, given Asus is currently trying to redirect bad press from "our ROG motherboards are making brand-new Ryzen processors literally explode" ... and then managing to generate even more bad press in the process by telling people to install beta BIOS updates that void your warranty.

Maybe everyone but me. I want them to leave well enough alone.
I wouldn't mind seeing another show set during the same period, but I don't want to see the same show over again. Or worse, a bungled version of the same show which stains the original.
