  1. THANKS TO EVERYONE!!!

    I post again

    HI

I don't know where to post this but I think that is important in inform to all you what is happening here in chile.

I'm an old member on MWF and I have many friends here. I want to inform to all of you, that I'm ok, there is about 800 dead people in about 7 cities.

the military has taken the city to ensure the security because the vandals are taking ther supermarket, storage, deparmet store, etc.

I'M THE ONLY MWF MEMBER POSTING FROM CONCEPCION (THE ONE OF THE MOST DAMAGE CITY AND WITH STATE OF WAR DECLARE BY THE PRESIDENT)

in fact in this time my dad have a little engine to make work the laptop. and have internet for a few hours.

in this time there is forbiden to walk on the street from the 19:00 to 12 afternoon (whe have only 6 hours to get food and water)

Like I said the military have take the order on the city, there is no money and food, the vandals has over taking the city so the military tonight will start the offensive.

Cool deal Maximilian! Sorry to hear about the circumstances but glad to hear you guys are okay. B))

  2. My reason for wanting to go full frame is fairly simple...I think. My next purchase is the Nikon 70-200 VRII. Although reviews are saying it's good on DX bodies it is a full frame lens. I plan to eventually buy a full frame body and do not want to be stuck with selection of DX lenses since glass is where it's at and not bodies. This is an expensive hobby and I'd rather be buying full frame lenses now instead of investing in DX. Rather than learn conversions for DX I'd rather go old school and learn on the 35mm curve. The easier the better as far as I'm concerned.

Eugimon, why the Cannon body over Nikon for full-frame? I'm somewhat paticular about Nikon lenses and for what I plan to shoot will it make all that much of a difference?

I've had an offer to do some nightclub photography on a regular basis and I'm looking for a good portable photo printer. Any suggestions?

  3. Full frame is in my sight  . Trying to holdout for Nikon's next release D700x before copping the D700. This whole DX format is too confusing when trying to purchase lenses. Plus I'd rather switch while I'm still learning. More than likely will be selling the D90 and my DX lenses in the near future if anyone is interested.

  4. Thank you so much for looking!!!! I really appreciate it.

No problem, but I made it home and had to report back to work when I got out of class. Weather has things jacked up my way so hopefully I'll get to go home tomorrow and I will check then.

  5. Chalk one up for MatrixSoul. This guy is buying up Macross goodies left and right! I've had the pleasure of doing a previous transaction as a seller with him, but this time I was the one buying and he's the real f'ing deal! Quick ship, well packed and best of all a fair deal! Would definitely buy from again.

  6. I have search for these but I can not find them. I bought them for my 1/48 Valkyries but know I want to display some 1/60 Valkyries so everything is close to scale. Please let me know. I remember when takatoys did then and those are the ones that got for the 1/48. I plan on getting 1/60 VF-1A Max Type, 1/60 VF-1S, 1/60 VF-1J Max and Millia type, and the Elintseeker. I may get the VF-1J Hikaru type if the budget permits.

    Thanks

When I get home tonight I will check and see what I have. I think I have some of these in waterslide decals.

  7. I must have really been lucky to get first versions of the VF-0A and VF-0S with no issues. I now own the latest of both versions that included the ghost booster sets. One is displayed in fighter mode and have never been transformed. The other resides in its box because I have not had time to remove it and display it. It'll be just my luck that these two would have issues should I try to transform them.

  8. I know it requires a bit of patience the first time, but I found the instructions pretty clear.

Just look at them in reverse to go back to the mode you started with.

Problem is the box is among other boxes and I was trying to avoid digging it out. I remember the transformation being pretty simple and straight forward. There is something with the arms that I can't remember and I don't want to chance breaking it. I think the instructions are posted somewhere here on the forums. I'll see if I can't locate them.

  9. Thanks for the pics MacrossMan!

Seems like alot of cutting, drilling, and patching up the holes. I have never done this before so I will need a dummy book. Anyways, after seeing your TV above the fire place, it just doesn't look appealing to me. No offense here!

Also, it appears as if the audience has to raise their chin up and keep it up just to watch. Therefore, I'm just gonna stick with a TV stand and store it where the impression of the wall is intended for the TV set to be. Viewing at eye-level seems more comfortable.

I'd be lying if I said that there was a lot of drilling involved, but no wall patching. My friend is a master electrician so he showed me how to use PVC junction boxes to get clean appearance. If I moved those audio piers from the wall you will see a clean panel for connections for all the audio and video connections. Although I had some professional help, it really is a simple process. It's just a matter of getting past the fear of messing up. Once I made that first hole I new there was no turning back so I had to finish the job.

TV placement is subjective. You'll hear many say that eye-level is ideal and most comfortable, but you also have to take into account the configuration of the room and the fact that panel TV's cannot stand up to the abuse of a convential CRT set. The shape of my room and the placement of the windows left me no real choice but to place the set above the fireplace. I have a huge family and when there 70+ people in the house at one time with a bunch of little children around the last thing is I want for them to put their little hands on the TV and damage it somehow. That in itself was enough reason for me to want to place it high. Trust me when I say the TV appears that you would have to tilt your head back. When lounging on the sofa the placement is not an issue.

That being said, if children being in my house was not an issue and I had the ideal room configuration I would certainly mount the TV at direct eye level on the wall. Having the TV on a stand takes away from the whole of idea of seeing these kind of TV's on Buck Rogers, Star Trek and Battlestar Gallactica as a kid 25-30 years ago come into fruition as an adult. I'd say definitely take the plunge and mount it on the wall. I swear you won't regret it. It's really simple. If you can hang a picutre on the wall you can hang the TV. Just find the studs, cut you a couple of holes for your wires and you're set. That's pretty much it.

My father and I did mount the wires behind the walls (and through the attic) for the rear speakers on the 5.1 system when we installed it. It's deceptively simple. Before you make a single cut in the wall, plan it out as much as you can. Make note of where electrical wires are (get the proper tool to sense them), make note of where the studs are, and then, only then, start cutting.

Also, if you're going to route wires in the attic, don't do it during the summer. Early spring or fall would be best, as it won't be brutally hot in there...

    All good advice!
