The dialogue said "It's him.". That's wrong. An easy wrong. Even with my extremely limited Japanese, I heard him clearly say "Kathy?". I thought I also heard other words in other spots as well that were not in the dialogue. There were a few problems with episode 1, but I'll save that for the episode 1 thread. But this has "speed sub" written all over it.

Which is okay as it means I get to watch Hard Chase for a third time!

Yeah, they could definitely get some great story elements if they expand on the Vajra...weaving in elements of the Devas and Asuras...with the Protoculture Stellar Republic.

Ok, finally got it to play correctly using CCCP and CoreVac(sp?). I dunno if the subtitles were all bad as I have a limited grasp of Japanese but man was this episode kick ass. I especially like the song at the end and the interactions between the characters. Big Brother better start flying his desk otherwise he will be out of the show when they prepare the pineapple salad!

I was tempted to submit Agni, but it tends to get butchered more when changed into Japanese phonetics and there's already been a "Fire Valkyrie" . In addition, Skanda has a lot more symbolism and association with Vajra than Agni does. Though, I'm sure Kawamori Shouji could appreciate the origins of both terms.

I like the look of Mikhail's blue VF-25 and the sniper rifle is interesting. I'd love to hear the fiction regarding the weapon.

Now, the blue blood has me confused. Even the aphos had normal looking human blood, hence the transfusion for Mao, which gave her some wacky powers to boot. Seems to me that the protoculture had a good thing going with that blood formula. Why would they change it? Either the vajra were designed differently for a reason (maybe operating in deep space?) or they may pre-date any known pc technology... or they may be something made by someone or something else.

Or. Didn't the Protculture have a civil war? Maybe the Varja are the secessionists.

The blood testing is similar to what Dr. Hasford and Aries Turner did to the Mayan people from Macross Zero. Also the markings on the Varja are very similar to the patterns in Macross Zero. I know Sheryl shares the same last name as Mao and Sara, but I wonder what else she shares with them. Did Mao or Sara have earrings like Sheryl's?

Ranka screaming definitely had some kind of effect on the Varja as does Sheryls singing. Anima Spirtia? Also the Varja maybe bio-mechanical like Bird Man was. Maybe there is a humanoid pilot inside?
