  1. ^^ I've pointed this out in the Episode Thread as well. So which is canon, the one we saw in Episode 4 or the one in episode 6?

Also, speaking of technology am I the only one who is in disbelief of the Red Lobster's capabilities?

According to the Leon in Episode 5:

== Makes its own missiles....WTF!!!??? Unlimited Ammo!!!

== Has a reactor capable of powering ECA and Fold Generator.

Can anyone say SUPER OVERPOWERED?

    1. Uhmm if they have killed two or more of them, then no they are not overpowered. Least of all uber powered.

    2. Variable fighters can fold, have damn near unlimited ammo, multi-forms oh and unlike the Vajra, do have PPB, like say the Excalibur or Sturmvogel.

    3. Alto was able to blast one to smithereens and Ozamu stabbity one to death.

So in the end, I cannot say they are super overpowered or even overpowered. ^_^

  2. Well, you can't keep producing top notch animation when you have a budget for a longer series and one with less funding than a certain bigger named mecha series. Were this a OAV, then I'd be concerned but this is a TV series and I do expect a few drops in 2D animation on some lighter episodes. The CG sequences, for the most part, are consistent and the story didn't seem affected by it.

I agree. I still watch SDF: M, even if the anime is subpar. I watch it for the whole experience, not just visual eye candy.

  3. to heron,

I agree it's small, but like I said it could be a scout craft of some kind or a transport. It could be like the small RC-4E Rabbit, carrying only a few people and mostly used for reconnaissance. I'm not seeing weapons, so I'm just guessing at this point.

Hmm, true, true. I'm more leaning toward your idea that it is a scout-type vehicle. Well, whatever it is, we shall see soon enough. ^_^

  4. The unknown fighter from the opening has an almost identical forward nose/fuselage silhouette to the VF-25 (with the exception of the quad canards), so I don't think the Galaxy Fleet fighter is the same. In fact, I'm not getting much of a "fighter" vibe from this ship. It feels a lot like a scout or transport ship, in the same vein as the transport that carried Sheryl to Frontier.

As you can see from the pic I posted, it has a fold booster of the same size to those in Macross plus and it's silhouette is very reminiscent of a fighter. The angles are also too short for a transport too.

  5. AH! but how many general anime's do you know of where the vibrating set cell phone is getting a pop singer off? HUH?! HUH?! ....................................................not many.

No, but I can think of several, actually quite a few, that have similar sexual scenes, ranging from Dragonball Z all the way to Pokemon. Serious, sex is sex and nothing about it is unnatural. Especially in a military-themed anime such as Macross. ^_^

  6. Being someone who watches alot of anime, i would have to sadly say that Frontier's consistency is dropping with each new episode. You'll never see these kind of quality drops in most sci fi anime like Code Geass, Gundam 00, Planet ES, etc. Its usually the crappy girlgame adaptations that are prone to these quality drop horrors. But oh well, lets just hope they keep the animation and art at a tolerable level....i'm still tolerating it and i've seen worse quality drops.

If I can still stand to watch SDF:M and M7, then I can tolerate it till the end. <_<

  7. I noticed something... The name of the fleet where Ranka was rescued by Ozma 11 years ago was "the 117th Large Scale RESEARCH Fleet". Could this mean that some kind of experiments took place on it? Could it be that... Ranka really... is a... human/zentradi/Vajra hybrid?

I know it sounds crazy, hehe... In fact, I hope this is not her real origin, since it destroys my previous series-connecting theory, hah...

It is a research fleet...It is possible that they expanded upon Dr. Hasford's and Aries Turner's research...

  8. A feel sorry for the modern day fighter pilot who will be the first to experience the effects of an Itano Circus.

Anyways,...just a thought when Alto's Gun Pod ran out of ammo why didn't he reload? Would this suggest that the VF-25 uses the old school VF-1-like gun pod that needs to be reloaded at a F.O.B. and not the new one's like the VF-19's GU-15, which uses clips of ammo and can be reloaded by the VF itself?

Speaking of missiles, I've read somewhere here in MW something about the VF-25 being "thin" compared to previous VFs. Am I to assume that the VF-25 has no internal missile bays like the VF-19 & VF-22 then?

    ALSO...

Just had a thought that if the technology in Macross mirrors some of the advances in the real world wouldn't it be a safe bet to say that in MF's 2059 timeline the roles of the various fighters that appeared since Macross Plus are like:

F-15 & F-14 = VF-19 & VF-22 | Since they are expensive to produce and maintain, only a small number of them are in service, thus leading presumably to development of the VF-25. (I'm taking a wild guess on this one.)

F-18 Super Hornet; F/A-18 Hornet & F-16 = VF-25 | Since they are multi-role/all-around fighters (thanks to the different packs it uses) and are (I'm assuming) inexpensive to produce and maintain. They also inherited technology (I'm assuming again) that are derived from the VF-19 & VF-22.

VF-17 = No idea what real world fighter it reflects.

The VF-19 and VF-22 (as well as the YF-19 and YF-22) are based on the USAF's Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) program YF-22 and Northrop YF-23. The YF-19 was also partially based off the Sukhoi Su-47.

The VF-25 has more in common with a Variable geometry fighter than an F-18/F-16...I would say it has DVI, Combat AI, AESA Radar and other 5th and greater generation type avionics.

VF-17/171's are based of the F-117 Nighthawk...
