  1. I found it at Hobby Link Japan for $185. I have not seen it cheaper but I am still checking a few sites out.

I doubt you will find a better price than HLJ unless someone has it on sale for some reason. It is my go to place for my Yamato toys. They are the most reasonable I have found in price and in shipping. Also, they are good because you know the stock status at all times. I believe they keep the most stock compared to most any other website. I have heard that some hobby sites actually use HLJ as their distributor. HLJ is very reliable and has excellent customer service. Just my two cents.

Edit: Yeah! I'm no longer cannon fodder.

  2. You can get a Zentradi warrior here if you are interested.

http://www.figurerealm.com/BrowseFigures.php (do a search for robotech)

I found a figure loose on ebay a few months ago. You do need the micronized one as the regular size warrior is too big to fit. Although, the full size Zentradi warrior is a much cooler looking figure. Actually, you would need a micronized officer in battle armor, but I don't believe it exists.

Technically, you do have a sealed box, but it is not a MISB. It is so badly damaged I would seriously consider opening it to make sure the battle pod itself is not broken. I think your biggest value would be to ensure the item inside is in mint condition. You would also need to make sure you have a mint sticker sheet and instructions with no tears, folds or creases. As an added bonus you would be able to offer the original box which is always a plus to any collector. I suppose it doesn't really matter in the end since you plan to keep it.

IMHO the sculpt is grossly out of proportion. Think of the original Kenner toys from Star Wars. Sadly, this is really the only large toy of the officer battle pod. I own a loose Exo Squad release. I was also able to get a partially complete one at a GI-Joe convention of all places. I had to rummage through a vendors loose toys bin, find all the parts, and piece it together. The good news is he sold it to me for $1 since it was missing the top cannon and it had scuffs and marks on it.

If only Yamato, or anyone for that matter, would put out a new large scale toy. Heck I wouldn't mind a Revoltech one.

  3. I would love to see another series put out, or even a new movie. If it's a movie it should be a completely new story and not a DYRL style of storytelling. Don't get me wrong I love DYRL, and I'm glad they gave the original storyline an updated and improved look. I was thinking it would be cool to do a sort of Star Trek Voyager style of series or perhaps a non-colonization style of fleet. It could be pure military vessels with a mix of UN Spacy, Zentradi, and Meltrandi ships and mecha. One thing I would like to see is a more in depth look into the workings of a Zentradi or Metrandi fleet. They could travel around as an early scouting group going to different planets and folding from this place to that place getting into adventures and trouble. Again, more like a Star Trek type of series, but with the Macross theme. Or, even a movie that takes the Flashback 2012 ideas and presents it in an actual movie or series. Sort of like the Clone Wars, which starts this Friday by the way. They could go from place to place taking on and converting the remaining Zentran and Metran fleets, and they can show the rebuilding of earth and the UN Spacy fleet.

  4. I hope revoltech makes the commander zentradi pod. Man I always thought the thing was one mean looking mech!

Yeah, I always thought the officer pod was the coolest one of them all. Why o' why do I always like the mechs that no one wants to produce as a decent toy. Are we going to be mocked by only having the Matchbox one that is so out of proportion its ridiculous? Yet, I own 2 of the blasted toys! That goes to show how much I really like it. I wish I had modeling and painting skills, otherwise I would have built a nice model years ago.

  5. This brings up a question I had. Has anyone put out a Zentradi-Japanese-English dictionary. Who is actually responsible for creating the language, and did this pesron give the same treatment to the Zentradi language as say Star Trek with the Klingon language? Would it be possible for someone to actually learn and speak Zentradi, or is there not enough of the language created for one to become fluent? I know the original question was a newbie one, but it got me thinking.

  6. Got a reply from HMV regarding holding an order.

    Quote

"As for your inquiry, it depends on the delivery option you choose when placing an order.

We can either send the order when we receive all the items in your order

or we can ship the items already in stock by splitting your delivery to two times.

Although your shipping fees will be revised, this option will cost you the delivery charge twice."

So, as I suspected there doesn't seem to be a time limit on how long they will hold items. If you want to wait and send the entire order complete they will do so.

That's it for me then. I will simply pre-order a batch of issues do the "ship when complete" shipping option, and try to be patient and wait a couple of months to get my batch of issues. This seems to be the most economical way for me to get them.

I suppose I won't be buying any more art/sketch books for a while, or at least until the Chronicles is complete.

  7. As far as I could tell from HLJ's website, they're not carrying Macross Chronicles. Is it some sort of special order or something?

Sorry for creating a confusion. No, HLJ does not have them for sale. I was just trying to use HLJ as an example of a website that has a policy to hold shipments for 2 months and ships regardless if it is complete or not. I will probably get them in batches of 4 to 8 at a time to save shipping I suppose. Also, I don't think I could wait any longer then that to get my hands on them. :D

  8. Is there any confirmed info on how many issues will be released to complete the set? I think I'm simply going to pre-order all available issues from HMV and "ship when complete" to save shipping costs. I determined they charge your credit card when the orders ships. I sent an inquiry to HMV to ask them if they will actually hold until issue 8 is released. I will let you know their reply. I ask because HobbyLink Japan, for example, has a policy that they will ship in 2 months whatever is in stock even if you ask to hold the entire order. It will be a long, long wait, unfortunately, to get my Chronicles. :( I already go nuts just waiting for the next episode to be released and subbed. I need to just order it and forget about it so that I can be surprised when the shipment gets to me.

  9. Alto needs to end up with both of them. :p That's the fantasy at least. :D He is a bit of an a**hole for the reasons that were mention in this thread, and from my experience the douches end up getting what they want. What I always find funny is that many anime love stories have a thing where neither side can simply come out and express their true feelings to each other. But then we wouldn't have comical situations and the like.

  10. I have always wanted to see someone do a Minmay dress that lights like the one she wore in the opening concert scene in DYRL. I always think it would be neat to incorporate more gimmicks into the costumes. For example, if someone rigged a Ranka wig that has the sides hair lifting up like it does when she is excited. Maybe you could rig a device that sprinkles glitter stars when she does her patented hand sign or something. I wonder if anyone would do a really cool Ranka cell phone that makes the funny sounds when you squish it, or even one that plays mini-CDs from the mouth. If someone ever puts out a cool cell phone toy I will definitely buy it. Perhaps doing a DYRL spacesuit that completely lights up. I would love to see a Zentradi battle armor costume, or dare I say a power suit from either Zentan or Meltran. I guess I'm just a dreamer at heart.
