  1. Yamato's got other franchises to milk in the meantime, but I'd be surprised if Yamato didn't have something planned for the Macross' 25th anniversary.

Back to the topic, there are other valks that deserve the 1/48 treatment over the VF-0S.

You got that right. The VF-4, VF-11, YF-19, and YF-21 would be on the top of my list of deserving designs to receive the 1/48 treatment.

  2. In their own clueless way, Paramount and Co. are just piling more dirt on Star Trek's grave.

If they just let Star Trek lie dormant for the next 5-10 years or, at least, until someone with a "real" idea with a good script comes along to resurrect this dead horse. Otherwise, they'll just have another theatrical bomb (IMO, Insurrection and Nemesis both stunk to high heaven) on their hands. That could be good in a way; it'll reinforce the fact, in their minds, that Star Trek no longer sells...not because it can't sell given a good, well told and well acted story, but because they just manage to screw it up on a repeated basis. <_<

  3. That destroids' looking good, mechaninac. Since Pro/E is parametric, are you taking measurements from a model or toy?

I'm using a few models to acquire reference dimensions; namely: 1/100 Bandai Destroid Phalanx, 1/100 Imai Tomahawk, 1/72 Imai Defender (mostly for visual ref.).

And here's a bit of tomahawk love...: B))

  4. Wait until this fall and you can have a 1/55 scale Beta/Thread MPC for about $200.00 from the not so fine folks at Toynami.  We know that the box will at least be cool. :p .  Seriously, if they keep up the quality of the Alpha MPC's, then the Beta might be worth the hefty price tag...

And where, pray tell, do you come by this ETA for the, AFAIK un-annouced, MPC Beta? Inquiring minds want to know. It's not that I don't believe you, but on the matter of the Beta ever actually seeing the light of day I'm extremely skeptical...especially since, IIRC, a prototype has yet to be shown.

  5. The amount of talent in this thread is just astounding...kudos to everyone. I've been so inspired that I've decided to contribute my own mediocre work to get some comments and constructive criticism. The picture bellow (simple screen grab...not a render) represents about 3 days work. I'm basing it on Bandai's 1/100 scale kit; measuring the model and trying to approximate/match some of the more "curvy" contours in a parametric CAD program is quite tedious, but in the end I'll have something that could be quite accurate to the kit.

One of the things I do not have is a good illustration of the mech showing some of the details not present on the kit and an internal cutaway depicting the internal leg structure. If anyone has anything of the sort, please post or PM me.

  6. If and when these stands are offered again at around the same great discount prices offered the last time, count me in for at least half a dozen...my collection has grown to the point that I need more of these things.

  7. Looks like the GBP armor will offer no poseability like its little 1/60 brother :( . Too bad....

Unfortunately that may be due, in large part, to the GBPs design, and the fact that, in toy form, a lot of the room that would allow better posability is eaten up by the sidewall thickness of the plastic.

If Yamato's business plans no longer include regular, maybe bi-annual, Macross releases (mere speculation based solely on what has been discussed on these forums), or if they're done with Macross, I hope to see a release of the 1/48 GBP and at least a 1/48 CF in limited edition fashion...they have the molds, why not use them? After that they should relinquish the license to some other company that can take the baton, so to speak.

Only problem with another company taking over is that they would start with the VF-1, just like everybody else. So I would rather Yamato continue to produce Macross products, albeit at a much slower pace.
