  1. I saw the movie late Sunday night. I must say, it's an absolutely stunning movie! I'd probably have to agree with Fort Max about it being a masterpiece of our time. It's easily a top five favorite of mine...probably second only to The Fifth Element. It would have been nice if Two-Face had more screen time...tis the only minutiae gripe I have with the movie. Other than that, it was solid! I cannot wait to see it again!

    Edited for grammar.

  2. Question for you all. I believe that I know the answer...but I'm not entirely positive. My HDTV will not accept a 1080p signal over component; the best it will do over component is 1080i. My question is in regards to my Xbox 360. Since I have a first generation Xbox 360...HDMI is out of the picture. So, my question is: will I get better results setting my 360's display to 720p rather than 1080i? Or would I get better results setting it to 1080i? I should add that my HDTV is a 1080p LCD. I'm thinking that it would better for my TV to upscale a progressive signal rather than deal with an interlaced signal. Am I right in my assumption? Thanks!

  3. So these down-loadable movies from my PS3, are they complete movies with all the extras I'd get from a regular dvd?

If I down load one HD films and then buy an HD disc of the same movie will it be the same quality?

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think you'd get the extras...just the movie. Also, I highly doubt the encodes aren't compressed...and are probably lossy and not lossless...so I doubt the quality will be the same as on a Blu-Ray disc. Again...I wouldn't quote me on any of that.

    My two cents.

  4. So if I'm living in the States, where would be the best place to go for this? Also, any possibility on picking up the first two since I didn't pre-subscribe? Thanks.

Edit: I've checked HMV but I have no clue if they'll deliver to the States...don't see why they wouldn't though.

  5.

As long as I've been here, someone (usually a newbie) always wants to see more Hikaru/Misa/Minmay after we've seeing them in SDFM, DYRL?, and FB2012. And we keep telling them the same answer...every time.

Can you really blame them though? :p

  6. ruskiiVFaussie, you're not the only one. There's one scene in Macross II, it's the part where Ishtar starts to sing the song of the Alus ("Anata o kanjite-iru - Mia Santi Ren" off of Macross II OST Vol. 2...track 17).... Well, everytime I see that scene I get goosebumps. Hiroko Kasahara's a cappella is just beautiful...and with the images of Hibiki breaking down in front of the camera...the Macross discharging the energy...the shots of Silvie and Exxegran and then of Ingues, after the Macross discharges. It gives me the feeling that the Macross is humanities' last hope and Ingues knows it...it's chilling.

Despite the Macross being blown apart...I love how Macross II ends. The message is powerful if you ask me.... Love conquers all...it's what will win the war and bring peace, not some (awesome) ultimate destructive weapon. Anyway...there are a lot of other scenes, from other Macross series, where I get the chills and goosebumps...but that one scene sticks out the most for me.

I'm ashamed to admit that I only recently entered the macross universe ... How recently you ask? Macross Frontier recently. Before frontier I had never seen or heared anything about macross, but that all changed.....

When I watched the deculture version of episode 1 (It was up on random curiosity and I felt like checking it out since Omni went crazy about it), I was shocked! I had never before seen such a beautifull anime, packed with amazing technology, awsome music, and characters that I liked from day one. It all mixxed so well .... I couldn't explain it anymore. It was the coolest anime I had ever laid eyes on.

Then after months of waiting the show finally began. I kept waiting 6 days a week for that awsomme experience, and guess what? It deliverd! Soon I ended up on this forum (beeing a guy who wants to know about the story no matter in what way I went searching for spoilers) and read about the older series. Took me a while to download them all and I started of with watching Macross Zero.

WOW, holly crap that was amazing. Hadn't had such an experience since .... well since frontier! I quickly "marathoned" SDF:M (inc DYRL and Flashback) and M7, and decided that should just as easly watch plus without a break. (6 days of nonstop awsomeness, omg I must seem like a geek :$). I watched the ova's and the movies, I watched dynamite (I don't care what some say, dynamite was awsome). Heck I watched Macross II.

Afterwards I was stunned, somehow most anime's aren't as cool as they used to be after watching these series. I did cry from joy once in a while when something really really cool/awsomme happened, but most of the time i was to stunned for that.

I'm glad to see that Frontier is bringing in more fans! Macross truly is an epic anime. After I rediscovered Robotech I went looking online for more information. I soon found Alt.Fan.Macross online and Macross II at a local BlockBuster. I "saw the light" and I've been more in love ever since.

Thank you Kawamori for bringing this masterpiece universe to me

    Amen.

  7. Damn, that's a good point but still, I can't do it bro. I GOT to watch it in one sitting. The impatience in me wouldn't be able to handle the weekly wait in between eps :(

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't have the patience to wait till Frontier ended. I would be more impatient, waiting for the series to finally end so I could enjoy it in one sitting, than I am now waiting for "next week's airing." The show is like crack for crack addicts...only it's Macross for Macross addicts. I dunno how you could deny yourself the pleasures of watching it right now.

Hell...I'm visiting my mother right now, for two weeks, and she only has dialup...so watching episodes 14 and 15 are out of the question...till I get back home that is...and it's driving me bonkers.

One way or another, you're going to be waiting regardless. I'd just rather wait a week each time rather than (at least) 6+ months.

  8. If this game is as good as everyone (including myself) hopes it is...then I'll definitely be buying it and a PSP as soon as this game comes out. My only hope is that they include "Dogfighter" and track 42 off Disc 3 (the complete collection). Those two songs would be the icing on the cake for me.

  9. Online Multiplayer (24 is a good number for squads and more likely to happen)

Co-op Campaign of the Story Mode online and Split screen or a seperate co-op campaign (make it fit into the cnnon material)

All the Valkyries from every series (yes even macross II)

    Player Controlled Zentraedi Mecha

    Player Controlled Destroids

All Mecha and Ships to Scale

    100 km map sizes

    Cockpit view with working gauges

Replay Mode (like Ace Combat 6) allow for screen capture to export to external source (ie Metal gear Solid 4)

Hangar to purchase Valkyries and view them in (like Ace Combat series)

Realistic weapon loads (like over G fighter ammo is limited unless on easy mode)

Landing and rearming and changing craft

Player Controlled Capital ships or weapon emplacements for multiplayer or as part of campaign

Campaign from multiple view and with alternative routes

    Large amount of missions

Custom schemes or atleast choose from a color palate

    Custom squad emblem

    Multiplayer stats page and tracking

Sequences where you explore the ship or base RPG style between missions for story info and to buy secret valkyries or items and collectables at the item store or hanger

    Animated or CG cutscenes

Free mission mode with endless enemies

    City fight stages

Meatl Gear Solid 4 grade graphics

Multiple missile types based on the series material

    non cannon what if mode

    TV series character cameos

Mission select once the game is cleared

Use your own music ingame (like Xbox)

Built in encyclopedia and reference database

Photo Mode to pose valkyrie or pilots (or idols) Yeah I know Metal Gear 4 on the brains lately

That's pretty much everything I've ever wanted in a Macross game. Though I'd want up to 32 players at a time, 1000km maps. Lets not forget the ability to change modes at will and not be forced into certain modes at certain times.

  10. Im writing this from home. I havent been able to go to MW for sometime now at work. My work usses a web blocker that blocks game, entertainment, adult, ect. I can get to anime punch, but not here. It may be asking a lot, but can you guys change the class of the site?

    Missing MW,

    Pfunk :(

Try this next time.... http ://www.google.com/translate_c?langpair=zh%7Cen&u=http://www.MacrossWorld.com/ See if that helps!

  11. My perception is probably clouded by the fact that this is the last episode that I saw, but my vote went to Legend Of Zero.

First and foremost, I loved the fact that the story dealt with the events of Macross Zero. For me, this sort of cemented M. Zero into Macross continuity, and struck a nostalgic chord with me. Like someone mentioned on another thread-- the episode was like a love letter to the fans, and I dug it.

The episode also did a great job meshing the story with the music of the series. I'm a big fan of the lullaby that Ranka sings (I can't remember the title), and I loved the way it was used in the 'Bird Human' film. In fact, I imagine that I'd enjoy the Bird Human film more than I liked Macross Zero!

The character development of Ranka (and to a lesser extent, Sheryl and Alto) was great. For me, this episode marked the first time that I could view Ranka as a sympathetic character. It looks like the kid is finally coming into her own; the scene in which she decides to take control of her destiny was moving. And the understated tension between Alto and Sheryl was cool to watch. I don't think it will be long before the two of them admit to themselves how they feel about one another.

All in all, this episode was emotionally satisfying. I'm disappointed by the lack of mecha action, and the slapped-together animation quality during the fight with the pet pokemon, but the nostalgia factor, music, and character development more than made up for it. ^_^

I agree with you in that episode 10 was a great episode. I dunno if it's my fav. though. I'm having a hard time deciding. :X  I too am a big fan of "Aimo". I like "Aimo" better than I do "Aimo ~ Tori no Hito" though.

  12. Well, I finally pulled the trigger. I now have a Panasonic TC-32LZ800 on the way. Here's hoping!

    Edit:

Well my TC-32LZ800 arrived today! Zero dead/stuck pixels! There's no buzzing coming from the TV either. (It's been reported that there may be some buzzing)

Regarding the sound coming from the speakers. The speakers aren't the greatest, but they aren't bad either. I can hear conversations just fine at 1/4 the max. volume.

The blacks are very impressive in my opinion and look ink black.

Out of the box the colors look fantastic and the skin tones look realistic/life-like. I cannot wait to further calibrate it!

My only problems with the set thus far are as follows. There does seem to be a little CCFL bleed at the bottom right corner of the screen...but it's hard to notice. Then there's the standard definition. As expected on any HDTV...SD looks terrible in comparison to HD. ^_^

Other than that though, I'm very happy with the set.

Think I should send the set and get that little bleed taken care of? It's only noticeable when the screen is black in that area...and even then it's hard to notice it some of the time.

Edit #2: The CCFL bleed at the bottom right corner has disappeared.

  13. Of course you can! That's what this place is for, of course. ^_^

But, pretty much, it all comes down to two points:

    1) Macross II is a thinly veiled rehash of DYRL with substandard characters and boring plot. But man, that VF-2 looks great!

    2) Macross 7...Valks with faces, too much Fire Bomber, space monsters, goofiness..BLEH!

Submitted for your approval...we try to come up with NEW reasons for disliking each series, something which Macrossworld has never seen before.

    Examples:

    For Macross II:

    a) Macross II was way too long.

    b) Wendy Ryder was such an interesting character, yet they barely used her.

    c) Why didn't the destroy the Macross's bridge? I want to see the WHOLE THING go up in flames!

    d) The BGM sounds too much like Evangelion. (True, BTW... )

    e) WTF??? Flying, transforming robots? Music? A F^%$IN' LOVE TRIANGLE??? This isn't what I watch Macross for!

    For Macross 7:

    a) An episode without Planet Dance is an episode wasted.

    b) Basara is tough, rugged, and manly to the point that the whole story becomes unbelievable.

    c) TOO MUCH MAX AND MILLIA! Instead of having so much about them, the series should've had more scenes of Michael's comedic bumbling.

    d) The Protodeviln are too scary. I have to hide behind the sofa during their scenes!

    e) A gaint robot show told from the persepctive of a rock band? *yawn* That's a TOTAL rip-off of Gundam 0083!

Just because we are opinionated doesn't mean we have to be boring about it! C'mon! Strut yer stuff!

Haha, nicely put. As for the music in Macross II sounding too much like Evangelion.... I guess it doesn't help that Shiro Sagisu composed music for both animes. :p Man I love his work though! He must be a beautiful person inside to be able to create the music that he does. "Going Home" from Bleach, "Expansion of Blockade" from Evangelion, "Scene #3" from Casshern the live action movie, "Futari" and "Kizuna" from Macross II. I could go on and on but I digress. Thanks for the humor. ^_^:D

  14. I'm sorry to beat a dead horse, but I would like throw my opinion out there. So bear with me please. I'm going to have to vote for Macross 7. I'm not voting for 7 because of my love for II, but because I cannot get past something in 7. That something would be Fire Bomber flying their valkyries and holding a 'concert' in the heat of (numerous) battle(s). Sure, II uses a lot of the same plot devices found in DYRL? (all the while having a completely DIFFERENT story)...but it isn't as absurd as Fire Bomber in valkyries. I'm sure if it weren't for Fire Bomber, in valkyries, I would be able to get past the first 15 episodes.

  15. Well, thus far I've been VERY impressed with Macross Frontier. There hasn't been a single episode I haven't liked. I'm sure Frontier will go down as one of the best in the Macross series. As someone else said earlier, that kiddie vibe Ranka was given seems to have dissipated. With Macross TV I was rooting for Misa, but in Frontier I can't decide to who to root for.... Maybe they could share Alto....? I was hoping they would have delved into how and why Zero plays a roll in Frontier but oh well. Maybe in the upcoming episodes they will do just that! Also, in what episode do they talk about the V-type virus again?

  16. I'm sticking with the theory that we won't see the Kite at all in Frontier. Alot of rumors going around that they want to market this internationally.

Meh, because of Blu-Ray I'm not too worried about domestic releases. Call me selfish, but I'd actually prefer it if they used the Kite. It won't stop me from importing!

  17. I got to play it for only 15 mins last night but from what I've played I REALLY enjoyed. I know I'll be playing this a lot. As Mr. Hingtgen pointed out, the game feels faster and is a bit easier (with the health regeneration). Also, "Path of the Acolyte" is their 'easy' and "Path of the Warrior" is their 'normal.' I started on normal and the game is tough, but so much fun!
