  1. Just received this in my email today:

Identity Theft Protection Offer for PlayStation®Network and Qriocity™ Customers

Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment have made arrangements with Debix to offer AllClear ID PLUS to eligible PlayStation®Network and Qriocity account holders in the United States who are concerned about identity theft.

AllClear ID PLUS is a premium identity protection service that uses advanced technology to deliver alerts to help protect you from identity theft. The service also provides identity theft insurance coverage and hands-on help from expert fraud investigators.

Sony has arranged, at no charge to eligible PlayStation®Network and Qriocity account holders, for twelve months of this service to be provided by Debix to those who choose to enroll. In order to be eligible, account holders must be residents of the United States with active accounts as of April 20, 2011.

If interested, please submit your email address by June 28, 2011, at 11:59:59 PM CST at: us.playstation.com/news/consumeralerts/identity-theft-protection.

Please note, you must enter the same email address used to register your PlayStation®Network or Qriocity account. Once your email address is validated, you will be sent your AllClear ID PLUS activation code.

    Sincerely,

Sony Computer Entertainment & Sony Network Entertainment

I imagine that if you do not cancel by the 12 months are up, you will be rolled into a paying account. Which could translate into mega-$$ for the company since most people won't remember to opt out.

It does not roll over. It is a one year deal. It is completely separate from PSN and Debix has no payment info from you to bill if they wanted to.

Just picked up a 160gb using Sony's Gamestop's $100 off coupon. So any suggestions as items and games to get and avoid?

    What do you like?

  3. :gasp: An enemy ace that flies a Super Flanker?!?! Man, how new/exciting for the Ace Combat series...

PS--seriously, those are some CLOSE range missile launches...

"He's too close for missiles, I'm switching to guns!" :p

It's the in your face, COD action that everyone wants to emulate now. That said, it does look exciting to play, departure that it is in that area.

  4. I like how you have USAF pilots (Air Combat command patch) operating German Eurofighter Typhoons from US Navy Carriers.

Relax, it's a fantasy game. I didn't build the frakkin' thing.

And AC has always been fantasy based mixed with real world planes. Has any AC been accurate with details like that?

  5. Speaking of all this hacking business, did anyone else hear about rumors that Sony will be reimbursing players with something or another store related due to the issues with psn being down and what - not. Its a fair call that a lot of people lost a lot of game time due to these issues. Thankfully (or not), I have been cramming for AP testing to take any notice of the hubbub with playstation store. I wouldn't mind getting a couple extra bucks for psn store use :)

They're starting by giving you PS Plus for a month as well as a bunch of other content free that has not been announced yet. Who knows what it'll be. Better than Undertow at least. Take that for what it's worth.

And to everyone upset about this whole data breach...you'd be quite upset if you knew about the companies who never admitted it to the public media, and took months or years to even find a data breach. It's happened way more often than you think it would. This is a fact of online today. To be honest, I'm surprised at how fast (though it seems like a long time) they came forward and warned consumers. Be angry at Sony? Go ahead.

But you'd be quite naive to think your info hasn't been compromised elsewhere too. This needs to be a wake up call to all companies, because believe me, your data isn't as secure as you think.

  6. Because 18 committees have to formed in order to determine the seat color. In short the USA spends in very stupid ways.

Truthfully I don't understand why all the countries come together and make an international space program.

Because with the whole world doing it, there would be 127 committees trying to decide on whether they should even do it or not.

  7. But Sony was crossing a line when they removed Other OS. It would have been one thing if they stopped advertising it, and if they opted not to include it as a feature in future hardware revisions. But instead the decided to patch it out of existence on, as has been pointed out, consoles that had the feature advertised on the box. And no, the argument that "if you wanted to keep Linux, just don't update" doesn't really hold water, as new game releases require newer firmware. We're talking about a console that was advertised as being able to play games and run Linux, and then having to chose between one feature or the other. I mean, suppose you bought an iPod touch. It's advertised as being able to play music and video, as well as games from the Apple App Store. Suppose, at some point, Apple decided that if you want to keep getting new versions of Angry Birds Seasons, you had to consent to an update that removes it's ability to play back music. Would you take that lying down? And if not, why do you think it's ok for Sony to remove Other OS?

Which PS3's had Other OS advertised on the box? I only recall it in the manual and never on the boxes. I should go look at my old boxes. I won't debate on the issue, but where was it "advertised" on the boxes? I'm just curious.

Edit: I can't find it on either a 60GB or 20GB original box...did the later ones advertise it somewhere? I can't even find it mentioned in the manual/guides though I swore I read it there when I bought it...maybe it was the online guide I recall.

  8. I saw one of those Thor hammer toys in the Mart of Wal. I could totally see kids smashing each other in the face with that thing. It's a bit more solid than I expected. :D My friend picked it up and slammed it into my arm...it's foam, but it's a very solid foam with a bit of weight in it. Totally waiting to see 5 year olds crying on playgrounds from from getting face smacked by the Nerf Thor Hammer!! :D

  9. 9:00AM Fast Five Brainstorming Session

ANd then he be like vrooom, and the other guy be like vraaaam, and then there is explosion, and the popo arrives with tactical gear and scoped M-4's flashbang the room, and then Blam, rocky does people's elbow, followed by regeaton booty booty booty booty booty everywhere then villain be like, "hey I race u biotch" and then of course we have an import vs detroit muscle race, imported from Detroit biiiiaaaatch! then popo arrives again, and Torreto kayak's to Japan in a converted El Camino. Meanwhile, the team arrives in the UK to face the enigmatic racer mercenary known as The Stig in a tale involving guns, drugs, hookers, and cars, setting the stage for the sixth movie.

    That is frakkin' funny lol.

  10. I think that the imagined world was Seet Pea's (at least the first one of the brothel/burlesque hall, but I think ultimately all of it). We have confirmation in the real world that she escaped. Baby Doll is the agent of the guardian angel we're told of in the opening naration and the dancing was a stand-in for her being molested by the men in the assylum in order for the items needed for esape to be gathered.. Since there's no mention of murders at the end (and they would have been mentioned giving something that signficant), I think that Amber and Blondie (and likely Rocket) were either imagined or never part of the attempt to escape/free Sweet Pea.

It took me a bit of thinking it over, but I've decided that I like the film. It turned out to be a lot darker than I was expecting, but I'm OK with that. One thing I really apreciate is that it took its audience seriously by letting the ambiguity stand and not spoon feeding them an explanation. Most of the negative reviews I've seen have so many inacuracies, it makes me wonder if the reviewers actually watched the movie.

I doubt they really did. Most would not want to admit they could like something like this. It's like the Oscars admitting sci-fi could be a legit genre.

  11. I've been playing FFXIII recently, and I've just unlocked the Instrument of Faith trophy. Now supposedly, you unlock a FFXIII theme for your PS3's XMB by getting that trophy. I checked the theme section of my PS3, but nada.

Do I need to complete the game before being able to unlock the theme?

The themes are on the game disc, and once unlocked are in the options menu of the game. You select them from there, and they'll dl to your xmb so you can choose them.
