  1. I wish it was. And you'd think I'd know better, too, what with having owned the first three versions of Street Fighter II (I missed Super Turbo), and having figured to wait until Third Strike for SFIII. I think I'm just done with Street Fighter.

Well, there was Street Fighter IV, Super Street Fighter IV, and the one that was just released (and available as DLC upgrade), SFIV Arcade Edition. The Turbo threw me off, thought you were just poking fun at Capcom. Which would be justified.

Ultimate MVC3 while compelling enough an upgrade, with 12 new characters and 8 stages, new netcode, etc, to be released the a few months later after the first (Nov release) is rather jarring to most people. Myself included.

Oh well...wait 10 years for a sequel, get two in less than a year.

  2. an extended fight on the way to the dragon.

More like..."the fight scene on the way to the dragon." I know they had to cut for time, but that entire sequence lopped out made the whole dragon scene in the theater seem weird. You could tell something was missing.

I liked the club sequence that was cut, but...I do agree with Snyder's decision about it. It did seem to remove a bit of danger about the asylym/brothel, and made it seem like it's a "fun place".

  3. Bought the extended cut Blu-ray, the SteelBook Canada Blu-ray too. MIght pick up the Japan Angel Wars set as well.

Also got one of the signed by Snyder limited edition art books too when they were released.

    I like this film.

  4. Went with a friend today. This was a very boring film for me. That last act just kept dragging on and on.

Liked the first one that everyone here hated, liked the action of the second film but, hated the plot. This final one....was just weird and boring.

Not a TF fan though, so perhaps thats why I dislike the one that people like.

Edit: The 3D was a turn off for me (no 2d version where I was) so that probably added to my dislike.

  5. They tried something like this with hawx, it was much less than useful at best. All I remember is a flood of pissed of people who noticed that the voice command system tended to cause them to fire off a missile every other second. I don't know how it was supposed to work really, but the idea that you should rely on voice commands to fire your weapons is fairly well indicative of the level of understanding that went into making the game.

In other news.. after seeing this clip, I really don't know what to expect.

I have to be very honest.. after seeing this, I wanted to reach through the screen and slap the guy upside the head. Seriously, after all the success you've had with a working formula, you go and change it just because it felt old? Changing something just for the sake of changing it is very rarely, if ever, a good thing.

I just don't know. It sounds like they're falling into the same trap that hawx did, trying to appeal to a wider player base. When are people going to realize that trying to attract a larger audience to a niche genre doesn't work?? It has two main effects: 1. Pissing off your original fanbase due to the compromises you have to pull to bring more people in, and 2. Not bringing in enough new interest to make up for the original customers you lost.

It's like they're trying to bring the current generation's fascination with blood and/or gore to the flight game genre, where frankly, I don't care how cool it might look, it really has no place. They're rebuilding the entire game around this concept of being up close and personal with things blowing up, and getting further and further from anything aircraft actually do. I mean, the guy specifically mentions how you "used to launch missiles at stuff far away, so we want to bring you in closer." There are not enough faces or palms on earth. <_<

I'll have to try the demo I'm sure, but the more I think about this, the more I worry. They keep talking about everything being changed, and different, and I can't help thinking they're going to throw out a good amount of what people used to enjoy about these games just for the sake of seeing close-ups of shrapnel. Redesigning it from the ground up, just to make it different?

Does anyone even remember "New Coke?"

I don't agree with it but, to be fair, people I know who don't play Ace Combat shy away from it for precisely that reason. They want in your face action. Makes sense to attract newcomers to the series. It's inevitable. Look at what happened to SOCOM.

  6. I hate BF games almost entirely because of vehicles. In every game I've played with vehicles, a normal match goes the same way every time. 3~5 guys on each team grab all the good vehicles and hog them for the entire game and the people who don't spend the rest of the game dieing over and over until the clock runs out or they rage-quit. Of course I don't like, nor am I any good at operating vehicles in non-driving/piloting games so even when I can snag a decent vehicle that lasts for all of for all of 5~30 seconds before whatever it is I'm driving explodes.

I've also never liked what vehicles do to map design either. Vehicle maps always end up as a massive open field with a hand full of postage stamp sized clusters of buildings scattered about the area. Again, if you don't have a vehicle you spend 90% of your time running huge distances trying to get from one tiny building cluster to another invariably being picked off by tanks, helicopters, and the occasional camping sniper.

the only game I've ever been even sort of ok with vehicles has been the halo series simply because you're such an overpowered one man army in multiplayer it's fairly easy to take out any vehicle single-handedly.

Warhawk did vehicles well. You could still play without one, and at times it was better not to be in one.

  7. Finally got a chance to wash and wax the car, I decided to use Zaino products this time around and i'm pretty satisfied with the results. Washed in Dawn Liquid soap, then Zaino wash liquid, clay barred the car, polished with zaino z-2 twice then used a finishing spray (z-6). What products are you all using for washing/waxing your cars?

I've been using Zaino since 1999.

  8. Gotta say---ZOE 1 and 2 remake is pointless when we've been asking for ZOE 3 forever. (and if they're re-releasing 1 and 2 to drum up enthusiasm for an upcoming 3---that just reiterates how long it's been, it's way over-due)

MGS 2 and 3 are fine--since we already have 4.

Good way to intro some new fans...and I'll take a revamped ZOE2 in HD prior to ZOE3.

  9. Its not even possible to get the games right now. There are so many people downloading their free stuff that the network is a mess and the store will just give you an error message and kick you out.

I wouldn't even bother trying the first day millions of people are downloading games all at the same time. I'd wait a couple days at least.
