Thanks for the replys. I have ALL THINGS MACROSS/ROBOTECH and a few others that have been mentioned that I did not originally. I think I've seen that Dagger of Kumai, but I might get that one. Legend of Galactic Heroes sounds interesting too. I'm waiting for GITS SAC to finish before getting it and I'm hoping for a legit version of Macross Zero too. I have Full Metal Panic. That was the last one I bought so I'm going to start watching it soon.

It's been awhile since I've bought some anime dvds and I'm starting to get the itch. Any thoughts on good tv series and/or OVA's to check out? I'll mention some of what i have(it would take too long to list them all). Please, no comments on any on this list as again, these are ones I already have, so I'm I'm looking for suggestions outside of these. Thanks in advance. I OWN C Bebop, Slayers, Trigun, Silent Mobius, Outlaw Star, Kenshin, Evangelion, Lodoss War, Gasaraki, Bubblegum, Excel Saga, Nadesico, Princess Miyu, Escaflowne, Rayearth, Orphen and Escaflowne, to name some

I just bought(on a whim) the entire Slayers anime collection. I want to know what would be the correct chronological order to watch them in. Please assist. I have the following dvds: Slayers TV Slayers Next Slayers Try Slayers: The Motion Picture Slayers: The Book of Spells Slayers: Return Slayers: Great Slayers: Gorgeous Slayers: Excellent Slayers: Premium Are there any other dvds? Anyway any help in what order I should watch things would be nice.

Display is nice...but I think I'll just stick to the "regular" extended version and get it in Dec 2004 can't wait--both Matrix and LOTR complete in Dec. Yataaa!
-
Okay great, but what about LOTR:ROTK? I have not heard or read of any confirmation of the 4 disc "book" version coming out yet and it is pretty much Oct now. What's the deal? I do not have Matrix yet, so I guess I'll get the boxset, though I don't see the logic in 55 min of unreleased Reloaded footage on a bonus disc and not incorporated into the movie; doesn't make sense. Still worth it though...

When is the Expanded edition of LOTR Return of The King coming out on dvd? I have heard nothing about it. The first 2 movies had those special editions(which i have) come about in the fall time. Question 2: Will there be a domestic Matrix boxset released for dvd? tanx!

Who is Basara? At one point in Macross 7, they suggested he was the love child of Minmei and Hikaru. Is there a definitive answer? I watched M7 for the first time over the summer and found it was not that bad. Certainly not as bad as some have suggested. Answer please

I used to know of website where they reviewed the quality of the HK boots for dvds out there(subtitling, video quality etc). Does anyone know a good website where you can see ratings of that kind so prospective buyers could have an idea before buying? tanx!

I'm waiting till the full series is on American dvd for GITS. I did like the movie, visually, if nothing else. What is Full Metal Alchemist about?

I'm about to get new anime but don't know where to start. Rate the following shows as I know little about them. It will help me decide. tanx! Full Metal Panic El Hazard Slayers(breakdown by seasons, movies) Hellsing X Vandread Dirty Pair Flash Soul Hunters

A friend told me he saw an add for robotech mini dvds. Is this true? What are they? How many episodes are on them and what is the advantage of mini dvd versus regular? tanx

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
khyronic replied to Effect's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
here we go...for another 10 months too, no less. It's almost like people watch movies now based on the title. It's sad. Every movie preview has the same gothic operatic music, flash scenes of action(usually the only action scenes in the movie) then end with a somewhat quotable line(again, usually one of only a few in the movie). Most people say "cool" and cause it to make $50 million its opening week and thus make studios make more garbage... SW 4-6 was a great trilogy and obviously unless EP 4 likens to Godlike proportions, EP 1-3 will not be as good, but that's life. All who talk about it are certainly those who will watch it. I for one, through all the stuff I've gone through in life, have kept going, somewhat in part to make sure I live to see all 6, and now it's "official" that it is almost here. It certainly would have been cool if EP 6 was called "Revenge" instead of "Return" but "Return" has multiple meanings in the 4-6 trilogy so I like it(ie, the Return meaning the return of Luke, Anakin, and since Leia could be a Jedi, "Jedi" as a plural). As far as comparing the 2 trilogies remember "It's never...as good as the first time(never as good)" -
I haven't seen X-men Evolution cartoon on TV for a while. I notice it is now on Cartoon Network so does that mean there will be no more new episodes? anyone?
-
well i just finished the show(ie episodes 1 to 49) and it is not that bad. Sometimes when your expectations are very low, you are pleasantly surprised. Heavy accent on the songs(which weren't bad either) and too much Basara. I wish they developed Viffidas more. I liked Gamlin the best. Now I will watch the OVA and movies but I would give the series a 8.5/10 because it did hold the Macross spirit. If you are hardcore Macross you might hate it but I am not. cheers

Well let me tell you what I do. I post a topic and then I do other things(I have a life). Then I return to my topic sometime later to find my question(s) answered. I see no need to search on a post that is much too long. The newbie post needs to be shortened or broken down. Since the smart folks who place such well informed answers are more than likely not newbies, they may not appreciate such a strategy but it is what it is. I am not a newbie. I simply know that the best way to search for answers is to first pose a question...thus this topic. Why not just have one post with all questions answered on one thread, with such logic, and simply search through it endlessly?... thanks, Panon, for proving my point.

1) when is Macross Zero going to end? How many parts? 2) any word on a dub and/or "legit" sub version? 3)Do you think they will do a "Movie version" like they've done with Macross Plus and Macross II? 4)Are there going to be games based on it? George was curious, so he asked...

I agree with JBO's comments. The OVA seems like a soap opera somehow because of the "filler". I do not care about the Myung-Guld-Isamu love triangle. Who cares who she likes? Furthermore in the OVA, Guld is portrayed like a freak. Just stick to the fighting please, which they did in the Movie version. This raises a curious question that I will post on the board shortly...
-
THE MOVIE VERSION. It seems better the way they edited it. I wish all scenes in the OVA that weren't in the movie were in there but... The "ending" for Guld is better done in the movie version too. 2 cents have been added to the pot
-
Thank you all. I suppose I could have tried harder searching myself but I figured you wonderful folks would give me the answer anyway. I'm on episode 11 and so far it's not so bad. Of course like most, I wait for a "legit" and complete version of Mac Zero on dvd to come out. "the waiting is the hardest part"...

Does any know a website with the episode titles(in English) for Macross 7. The dvd copy i have does not translate them. Any info is hot. Thanks. P.S despite what i heard, i like the show so far. It's like Macross II, with even more music...

once again, any thoughts on the following shows if you have seen them would be grand! Crest of The Stars Appleseed Excel Saga Kabuto(OVA and TV) Plastic Little Samurai Girl I've heard really good things about Samurai Girl and Crest especially. Are they any good?
-
Anyone watched any of these(Season 2 of Orphen especially) and if so, how are they? Is Ghost In the Shell TV finally finished? I see there is now a legit U.S version of Ghost coming so I assume the show would be done. I generally buy shows and decide for myself but any info would be hot. peace, if not half!
-
thanks for the insight. i have adv version of mospeada and will probably pick up HK version just to get LLA. I'll watch it and decide myself since it will most likely not be available through other means.
-
i read somewhere here once that the HK version of Mospeada dvd includes Live Love Alive. Is that true? How is the quality(subs, video etc) if so and is it worth putting $20 down just to get it? tanx in advance
-
i remember someone on this forum said that ADV Films got the rights to Macross Zero and would be putting it on dvd in 2005. Is that true and if not is there any legit info on if it will be(whenever it's finished of course)?
