  1. Well I looked at this tread when ruskii posted it and after reading most of the comments was pretty shocked at how rude some of you have been, I know most of it is in jest but really. OK sure it might not be to everybodys tast but I think ruskii did a great job and tried something different from most of us sticking to the same old display ideas.

Ruskii I like what your doing there, I do think the pink pulls a little too much away from Nora and the blue paper idea should work well. My 6 year old daughter was just looking at the pic's and straight away asked how you put the clouds in the table, and the wife said it's nice to see an artistic display instead of seeing more pic's of valks on shelves, but agrees that maybe grey would look better with the white as long as it doesn't hide shin to much.

I really like what you are doing and think the table is awesome, I've been wanting to get one for a while and you just convinced me. One suggestion, is there enough room to sit the valks on something other than the feathers like a small box or something that you can hide, build the feathers up around. My idea is to sit the valks just a little above the clouds rather than sitting on them, then you can build up around the edges to give the clouds more depth like they are flying above a cloud ready to pass through some cloud infront, it's a little hard to discribe what I'm thinking, clear in my head.

Good job ruskii, nice to see something different and someone not afraid to use his imagination. :)

  2. well, it could very well be that yamato doesn't have the license to do any more valks and they wanted to capitalize on the licenses they do still have. Without knowing what's going on with the licenses, it's pretty pointless to get upset over what yamato is choosing to release, imo. They may not have much or any choice in the matter.

This I beleave is the whole trouble, the license issues need to be worked out once and for all.

  3. The source of irritation for me is not my 'investment' (I am not a toy investor; I have no illusions about recovering money spent on toys - I have an IRA for investment purposes). I'm irritated because I'm sick of VF-1's, and I'd like to see some really 'new' toys from Yamato. The resources being sunk into yet another 1/60 vf-1 line could be better used (IMO) on tackling large-scale destroids, bad guys, macross 2 mecha, macross 7 mecha, etc. Instead, Yamato keeps making more VF-1's, just smaller than before. Judging from your reactions, though, it may be a savvy business decision. Perhaps people would prefer to see VF-1 toys ad nauseum. I guess we'll find out once they're released.

I agree that there are a lot of other mecha from macross that aren't getting any love that's for sure and I am disapointed that yamato and other companies don't seem to be concerned about them and that sucks. However I think that Yamato is playing the safe game of producing what they know will sell and don't seem to keen on taking the risk of producing the not so popular mecha. One day I'll have my VF-2SS even if I have to build it myself.

  4. i'd rather have a lot of different toys to enjoy than the same repainted toy design over and over again.

sure the VF-1 is timeless and part of my childhood but i don't need 30 of them to keep it that way.

I'm the same I don't need every VF-1 in every colour scheme it's just not how I collect. As big a Macross fan that I am I consider myself a Mecha collector not just a Macross collector, as excited as I am about the new 1/60 VF-1's I only plan to get what I feel I need for my collection and at this point it seems I'll be buying in 1/60 a VF-1S Roy, VT and VE and most likely a VF-1D and CF but beyond that I don't see the point in anymore as there is so many other cool mecha out there to buy. For myself I don't really think that a display cabnet full of valks looks as impressive as a cabnet full of different mecha from different shows IMHO. :)

  5. i dont understand why it has to be one or the other. i plan to own both quite happily.

100% agree why can't you have both and love both for what they are.

yup, I don't get why people would be upset, unless they were doing the whole "investment" thing. If you like your 1/48s (like me) good for you and if you want an in scale vf-1 to go with all the other yamato valks (like me) than good for you. No one is forcing anyone to buy these, or sell those or whatever. Just get what floats your fancy. For me, even with the low hanging arms, I think the 1/48 fighter mode is superior (based on the pics so far) to the new 1/60 and that happens to be the mode I like the best. But I also appreciate the increased posability and more anime accurate batroid mode of the new 1/60 so I plan on getting a few.

I think you hit the nail on the head, it's the "investment" thing. I think people are getting ticked off as they have just whatched their current 1/60's become devalued and feel the same "might" happen to the 1/48. I'm feel the same as eugimon I love my 1/48's and have no reason to get rid of them, but I also would like to have 1/60 VF's to go with the rest of the 1/60 line.

As for scale it is very important or they wouldn't even bother, the scale can give a sense of realism and consistancy in a collection. Also the trend is going smaller not larger as space is a concern to companies as it determins how much they can sell to any one customer as that customer has more room for displays if the scale is small. Figure lines such as the Gundam HCM Pro's at 1/200 scale are booming and price is a huge factor, why buy one toy when you can by three, four or more for the same cash outlay.

The 1/48's are a master piece and always will be, there big and well detailed and look great on display, but we don't know if it was from the start just a test bead for the new 1/60 line, but like a 69 mustang it's time is over, but it will always be a classic with much love from Macross fans and will always be remembered as the BIG valk.

  6. And what do you think about model kits? Could Hasegawa get the license? :(

If Bandai has the licence then I would doubt that Hasegawa would even think of trying to compete. Now I'm one of the biggest Hasegawa fans around but if Bandai puts all it's resources into Macross F, on the model side Bandai has Hasegawa out gunned. For one Bandai has multi-gate technology which as far as I know is patented to them alone, this makes models far cheaper to produce as straight away they offer models that don't have to be painted and also allows less sprues needed in a kit. If they use there clever snap fit designs again they will out sell Hasegawa due to not needing great modeling skills to assemble which means you can target even younger model builders.

I've been building a few Gundams of late and after building soooo many Hasegawa valks and battroids the Gundam kits are a welcome change, as they are designed far better IMHO. No injector pin marks on detail surfaces, sink holes and join lines that are well hidden if not invisable. With all that you will find that the Bandai kits would be transformable. But again this would all depend on Bandai's willingness to make Macross kit's as good as the Gundam kit's.

Also with the multi gate-technology it should give Bandai an advantage in making toy's aswell. By being able to prduce multi colour plastic on one sprue they can fill in spots on sprues with different colour parts meaning less moulds that have to be made meaning cheaper production. I think this is the reason why the HCM pro lines can be sold so cheap and with such good detail.

I'd love to see Yamato do the MF toy's just for consistancy but if Bandai pulls all it's resources then I beleave they can blow Yamato and Hasegawa models out of the water. Imagine a 1/32 scale Perfect Grade perfect transformation LED lit VF-25 valk with removable panels to show inner frame on legs, arms, chest, ect. With full armor again with removable panels ect. I think we all know that it's possable but will Bandai put in the effort?

  7. Yep, *sigh* and the ebay sellers breathe a little easier and relist their jacked up prices... :(

edit: I shouldn't whine, it's not jacked up prices, it's just economics

Maybe Bandai just want to see how the range will go so they picked what was really popular and if they sell well then they will re-release the other kit's, makes sence from a marketing standpoint. I'm just glad the VF-2SS is there as I refused to pay US$60.00 plus for a little model kit, I've even seen them go for more, crazy.

  8. Well just got up it's Christmas eve and found it wasn't a dream after all. It's going to be so nice to have a collection in one scale. I wont be getting rid of my 1/48 as if they are a dead line as the G-Man said then they should be very collectable as once production stops where else are you going to get a 1/48 scale. Don't you guy's think that the 1/48 will one day be valuble regardless of the new 1/60. If the 1/48 line is finished then they will be even more collectable than ever before.

  9. I am really trying to like these. (I do not know why, because I can not afford them).

But I just can not bring myself to desire them.

I much prefer the VF-1 Stealth version with variations of black and Grey.

And for the YF-19 I would have preferred a Vampires Scheme similar to the Stealth version.

I guess I can thank them for making something that I do not want. Now I can save up for the ones that I do want. There are plenty of those.

I'm with you there, I was really hopeing for something really spectacular but I just can't bring myself to like these. But your right that there is plenty of yammies that I still want and not getting these make purchasing the 21 easier, need that for my M+ collection so I'm not concerned. I'll build a Hasegawa VF-1S strike battroid and make up some 25th anniversary decals. PeteB's VF-4 came up a treat and really looks like an anniversary piece. :)

  10. maybe we should all pitch in and get yamato a copy of Word or something. Or hell, just email them the url for dictionary.com.

I guess the lesson is: Never underestimate yamato's ability to frak it up.

Should just do it for a joke, they might get the message.:)

  11. i mentioned yamato spelled excaliber wrong when the pics first surfaced.

i guess they just didn't care.

I can't beleave that they kept the miss spelling, I can't spell for sh#t and I picked it up on the first pic's and they couldn't be bothered fixing it. That's a big turn off on the 19, not that I'm getting these anyway as I don't like the colour scheme, but really Yamato could have got a spell checker. If I did get any it would have to be the VF-1S anyway as the 19 just doesn't seem to fit with the 25th anniversary IMO.

Now someone needs to make a correctly spelled decal for the 19 to replace the engrish. Pretty poor QC for such and expensive collectable considering it was printed right under their noses, this fault should have been corrected on the prototype.................Yamato what the hell are you doing?

  12. Well this is great new's from Bandai, no more having to look at people trying to sell a VF-2SS for over $60.00 and VF's for $45.00 plus, this is great. As for collectores that get mad about re-issues they should be smarter as Bandai re-issues everything they can I if I had a company like Bandai I'd do the same. The Bandai models may not be state of the art but they are classics. I wonder how many collectors got their nose out of joint at Hasegawa for re-issueing the SV-51 with twin boosters and the VF-0A/S with Ghost and they are marked as limited editions.

I'm just glad that all those people who ask stupid inflated prices for these kit's (Ebay sellers mainly) will end up stuck with models that they more than likely paid twice the price for.

  13. sorry to hear about that man.

MW member sqidd uses those guys all the time for his macross purchases. he said he was pretty friendly with the guy, maybe he can pass along the message, maybe even help you out in getting what you paid for. shoot him a PM, it can't hurt.

Thanks dnd, it's a crap situation but lucky for me I'm a good modeler and was able to scatchbuild two new anckle guards and now it looks great. I'm more concerned that you get your money back as that's utter sh#t what you are going through. I was thinking of odering from toy wave but after reading all about your deallings that wont be happening. If a seller screws me over once that's it I'm through with them. Thanks for your concern it's nice to know that some people care, it's wrong for sellers to treat people like this and they seem to forget how many people are on this forum and that we all talk about our deallings.

This should be a warning to any sellers out there, screw any of us over and lose lot's of business!!!!!!!!!!!
