  1. Yes, everyone should have the same taste and opinion of everything. If only we lived in such a perfect world.

No but everyone should have a sence of quality and CM is lacking that in the look of the final product. The fact that CM has PT on something so small is a great achievment but what good is it if it going to break or they are just so small that parts do have to be removed. I can see the point that the MH versions may be seen as cheap for not having PT and I can except that, but the finish of the MH from what we have seen to date makes the CM's look cheap.

I guess what it all comes down to is what your going to do with these, for me I'll buy the MH versions put them in the poses I like and thats how they stay until I decide to change things around as do all my collectabes, they will never see "play" time.

  2. Funny cause I am looking forward to battroid pics! I am a battroid kinda robot though so it makes sense.

I just want to see fighter pics to see how the scheme fit's the next generation fighter, like looking at an F-4 and an F-14 from the same squadrons. But I'm pretty much a Battroid guy myself and the fact that they transform into planes is just a bonus. :)

  3. I'm happy with smaller scales, 1/48 scale valks are great but space becomes a problem, even with the 1/60's and I don't want to leave them in boxes in storage somewhere that's no fun. If the VF-25 is a good size 1/100 would be nice but I would still want a 1/60 Yamato in the future.

  4. I can't get my head around why people think the CM look good at all, yes the sculpt is pretty good and the transformation is well thought out but the over all look of the finished product is just discusting for the price. If it was a transformer then you wouldn't pay any more than $20 for something that looks so cheap and nasty and so small. Compared to the MH pictures we have seen it looks really nice and looks like you are getting something for your $60 but these CM's look like they just fell out of a Kinda suprise. I just can't get my head around how these CM's can look good to people, every picture shows the same cheap looking items full of screws that look huge due to the scale. After seeing all these pictures of the CM's and reading on them being brittle and so on MH seems to be the top choice at this time though I'm sure there will be issues with them, but at least they look cool and look worth a little more than $20.

  5. Well the best idea is wait and see IMO. If Bandai are already producing proto's then they are showing an interest in toy production from the start which everyone should be jumping for joy over, but alass the MW bashing of a product begins. I think that the proto's look pretty good granted you can't see much detail but at least the work has begun. Sure it would be nice to have Yamato produce these new valks but I'm hoping that you guy's aren't just turning into Yamato supporters as what good would it do to just have one company to produce Macross toys, you might aswell just hand your wallets to Yamato and let them charge what they please and I'm sure a lot of you would pay it.

Well I don't like just having one company with all the eggs in thier basket and I'm hoping the Bandai comes out with some really top products that are sure to retail for less than Yamato's. I myself have only just started collecting some gundam products, HCM pro's mainly and I have to say they are awesome figures and the special painted versions make my Yammies look a little bland. Sure the Yammies are great and I love them to death but right now I'm looking at my 1/48 VF-1S against my 1/200 Sazabi SP and it's over all finish kills the VF-1S and no stickers to apply and look crap.

Sure Bandai has not got the greatest record when it comes to supporting Macross however as far as I know they have only produced a couple of macross toy's and the rest where moulds purchased from companies that went broke and folded due to I guess not a lot of interest in those companies products. If it was not for Bandai then those old models and toys would have been lost so maybe everybody should bash Arii for there crap designs as all bandia did was rerelease them so we had at least something macross to build or display. It could be worse we could be getting Monogram/Revell to do the models and lets get Mattel to do the toy's, if any of you have issues with QC you should look at them ( Bought my daughter a Barbi horse float van thing and it fell apart removing from the box, great QC).

Gundam is Bandai's cash cow we all know that but what I can't understand is all the bashing of bandai for producing items that sell and keep there comany moving forward, but you can't expect them to just drop that to produce macross toy's and models. I can imagine the outrage if all the gundam fans pushed Yamato into scaling down thier Macross lines to produce gundams. I'll agree that it will all depend on how well Macross F will do but I'm sure from most people here that it will be successful, it will all depend as some of the past macross has been a little bit of a let down in a lot of ways like M7 and to some extent Macross Zero and I for one am not one for space bugs ( call them what you like bio weapons or what not), it just a little Macross Pest Control to me but that's me and I don't expect anyone to agree, but I am a fan of the new VF-25 and would like some nice models and toys and don't care who makes them just as long as they aren't crap. If Bandai makes a mess of this then we will have every right to run Bandai into the ground but lets see the finished product.

  6. Wow that ended better than expected, some funny sh#t though. Some fine saturday morning reading. :)

this is all the more amusing when I imagine Brian's voice when reading JsArclight's posts.

It somehow just seemed like Brian speaking, forever more JsArclight's posts will be read imagining Brian's voice. :D

  7. As I said I'm looking forward to these but I must admit the more I read and see of them just makes me want to buy some more 1/48s while they are still around. I'm pretty happy with the look of the new 1/60 but I'm not a fan of the flattened back pack as it looks the wrong shape, but I can live with that it just means there is still a place for the perfect VF-1.

  8. That's been stiffed bad IMO. I would be chasing my money after 6 months. Hope your family member is ok. IMO it's way too much money to let get away and if nothing has arrived after 6 months then I would guess that nothing will, it's a shame that anyone let alone a member would do this to you.

  9. Anyway, thanks for your words guys!

You built a Fokker D VII with Roy Focker color scheme?

Yeah my main customer last year was a huge Robotech fan and wanted the Fokker D for something different and also it's a model disregarded by most fans, but it was a lot of fun, but yeah it looks almost the same as yours but I moded the kit to have the open intake above the prop and extended the exhaust, thinking of it now I changed quite a bit of the model to get it to look like the line art. I beleave him and I are now just missing the Dragon II but I plan to scratchbuild a couple this year. I've also done a lot of F-14's in macross markings and they seem to be the latest thing for my customers this year, everyone want's a Macross "Jolly Roger" F-14 it seems this year.

  10. Maybe they only comment when they've got something useful to say ;)

This is what I think a lot of people do, take for excample the new 1/60 vf-1 tread, how many times can you make comment on dubble jointed elbows, I post a bit but most of the time I'm lost for anything to contribute and just can't babble on about nothing. I try to post pic's of models I've finished but in the end it's just stuff that's most people have seen before so I've stopped. It's great to see new members signing up and it's great for Macross but I don't think you will see a flood of new posts from them, maybe as some of the older members start to fade away they will become more confident in posting, who knows.

  11. That's a nice model cool8or good to see someone else models more than just the valk's. You did a nice job, I built this model for a customer at the start of last year out of the roden kit, turned out beautiful as your's has. I'll have to get him to send me some pic's of the collection I've built for him over the past 12 months, I think he stands at about 28 macross models I've supplied, but I'm starting to lose count. I know I've built 58 macross kits for customers and 7 kit's for myself in 2007 and it looks like it's going to be a bigger year this year. Great as always work keep it up. :)

  12. Any idea what a UK brand for that would be? Sounds good stuff, but such things are expensive when imported. :-(

Well over here it is just sold with the testors paints, I mate grabbed it for me I think at a model railway store. I think it was designed more for scale railroad modelers as I haven't seen it in any basic hobby shops but that's nothing new over here. Try any hobby stores that carry a large range and it should be there, it's bottle size is 2 FL. OZ and that's $10.00 AUD but it seems to go a long way. Testor products are hell expensive so I rarely go nere them.

  13. You could also try a product called ELO ( Easy-Lift-off) made by Polly S ( Testors), it's a model paint and decal remover that works on most paint but really works well with enamel paint. Apply, let it soak into the paint, wait for the paint to crinkle, then scrub with toothbrush. I've just used it to great effect but be warned the vapor is very harmful and combustibale. Great product though and wont eat any plastic.
