  1. Thanks for the info on hybrid drives! The last time I read a bout the subject, they were still relatively new.

But this still begs the question, why set up the Steam Machine with only one HDD? Drives are no longer bulky 3.5" blocks of wasted space. And with a Linux operating system it makes sense to partition a separate boot drive and data drive. At least, it makes sense to me.

  2. Those aren't renewals, they're just a second production run of old figures.

To which I respond "why?". They were everywhere for a few months.

There should be no discussion on hidden renewal'd MP's. We all know

Hasbro doesn't work that way.. Or fast. If they don't announce something at NYCC there's

Nothing even planned until after Toy Fair.

Ah! A misunderstanding of the terminology on my part.

Perhaps you are correct then and more stock will suddenly "appear" as it did for the Prime First Edition figures.

I'll echo the wish for more Decepticons other than Soundwave/blaster and his minions.

Galvatron would have been another nice surprise with Ultra Magnus. Oh well.

  3. Think I like this guy better than the YF-19.

Maybe I'll change my mind haha

I paid for this pre-order early in order to budget things out, so I am getting both.

I think soemone else was saying in one of these threads that it would be a neat then and now display for the Macross timeline.

Heh. That's good enough for me. This will also be my first Bandai Valk, so why not?

  4. In the midst of all the Masterpiece renewals overseas, the folks at Transformer World have noted that the US is getting a renewal release of Prime Deluxe figures. I wonder if this could lead to our own Masterpiece renewal over the holidays?

What Masterpiece figures might me good contenders for Hasbro US? Optimus? Starscream? Grimlock? Something else?

I would love to see Grimlock or Starscream in the new MP packaging at TRU.

  5. So...Haswell? That was an interesting choice of CPU. In my own desktop system, I use Ivy Bridge. The other components seem good for gaming (and the small chasis is cool), but I would also try to find a way to fit an idividual SSD boot drive and notebook-sized HDD drive for data. I'm just not sure of those hybrid drives. I wonder if the Steam Machine will eventually support a two drive configuration?

  6. All right! I placed my pre-order with amiami. Just one for me.

Now we just gotta see the move from Bandai, I'm guessing we'll see an YF-29 Ozma in the same month

That would be a sweet move.

  7. I was just thinking of three: Sheryl/Basara, Ranka/Minmay, and Mylene.

Places like amiami, hobbysearch, and hlj were out of stock when I looked earlier in the week.

Amazon US wants $24 for each and shipping is free, but I don't mind saving a few dollars if I can.

  8. How is the quality of the Banpresto cross over/cosplay figures? Since I'm starting down the PVC road in the Yamato thread, I thought it would be nice to pick up the Sheryl cosplaying Basara figure, as well as Mylene (of course) and have a Macross display too. Also, about how tall are they?

  9. I think I read all these. I think he wrote too much, to be honest. A few of these were awesome, but many were repetitious and clunky. Still, he was a true giant in the field, and leaves a great legacy.

For sure. I agree with Ghost Train too that some of his characters were so stereotypical to seem prejudicial. I remember thinking that Debt of Honor was cringeworthy when I read it. Of course, in interviews that I read Clancy was not apologetic--an author of a different era.

  10. Very sad news. My library has a shelf dedicated to his work. All the books that I read were engrossing, but I've been into other genres in recent years. Off the top of my head, I can remember these:

    Red Storm Rising

    The Hunt for Red October

    Without Remorse

    Clear and Present Danger

    The Sum of All Fears

    Debt of Honor

    Rainbow Six

    The Bear and the Dragon

  11. ^Oh yes, very, very wrong (luckily in an amusing, embarassing way).

And now that you mention it, a German surname makes a lot of sense given the context of the anime and the rebooted plot.

Still, having both of the hot-shot pilots would be cool.

  12. Wait, what? Is that name for real? Merda, as in Scat? And Ditz, as in Scatterbrained?

Oh, Japan, sometimes it's hard not to engage in ridicule with your choices of character naming...

No, not at all. I should have looked up her name in the Space Battleship Yamato Wiki.

The proper spelling is Melda Dietz. And now I feel like a moron for copying and pasting from some other random site.

    Apologies...

  13. skullmilitia: Thanks for explaining the differences between Takara and Hasbro Asia. This version of MP-11 may not be for me. I appreciate your other advice in this thread too. Saving money is always a good thing.

    mikeszekely: Magnus!

August 2014 is a long wait. I'm looking forward to more news (and more pre-order opportunities).

  14. That's a good point, I don't want to be broke after April when the YF-19 is released. I see myself having to become a lot more picky with these second-chance Masterpiece releases. As excited as I am about them, I think it is smart to wait and see if the price is right or if Hasbro will bother to do another domestic Masterpiece release in the States
