  1. Do the acrylic hold to chipping? And do you apply varnish coat when once done with the weathering?

The paint is going to be much more fragile than the stock paint. As for holding up someone who has a custom that I did will have to chime in. There are actually three "varnish" coats. Two with Future floor polish and a final flat coat.

  2. Thanks guys.

How many 1D's? I am not sure, I will have to count them up...seems like hundreds...lol

The shading you see is pre-shading. I prime, pre-shade, paint, oil wash the lines, dry brush the details and maybe a little post shading.

All paints I use are acrylic, except the oils for washes and drybrushing.

  3. Wow!!! So nice!!!

How long did it take you to complete?

Well this one took a bit longer than usual due to life getting in the way. I can get one done in 2-3 weeks without distractions.

  4. Hey everyone. I know it has been awhile but I just finished this 1D and wanted to share. Standard scheme, just the markings are not exact for a 1D. Thanks for looking.

  5. scheme is perfect...do you come up with this yourself or does the client gives it out to you?

Thanks everyone! Actually all the customs I do are for other people. I have one 1J/GBP that I have yet to do for myself. Even then I will probably sell it. LOL So the customer has the idea, I may guide them one way or the other but it is mostly the customers ideas.

  6. Here in the latest. This is just a GBP armor set, the valk is not painted. I think this turned out really good. I am glad the customer wanted heavy weathering and a little battle damage. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

  7. Wow, awesome work as always! ^_^

Was the color scheme to your liking or that of the customer? It seems a bit bland, like it needs a little something to make it "POP".

I paint the valks to my customers request, although I do like this scheme myself.

  8. Thanks everyone for the compliments, I really appreciate it.

The finish on the valk is a combination of techniques. First I airbrushed highlights in the center of the panels to break up all of the black. Then drybrushed some white to very lightly bring out any detail. I use Testers acrylic flat which gives it a very soft "frosted" look.

As for the decals... I kidnapped Anasazi and have him locked in my basement printing decals. Sorry, I'm not sharing. Seriously, all of the decals are supplied by the customers who were lucky enough to stock up.

  9. Thanks everyone.

Which image do you want for the wallpaper?

The decals were printed in those colors by Anazasi.

A Fokker 1S was used for the base valk.

  10. Hello everyone. I know it has been a while since I have posted anything new. Here is the first 0S that I have done. I apologize for the fighter mode only images. I had images of it in the other modes but had an issue with my camera so I lost those and I did not want to transform it again, sorry. Anyway let me know what you think. The 0S was pretty easy to custom. If you are doing one be careful of one thing. For some reason everything is labled opposite from left to right. Parts are not labled for the valks left and right, it is opposite. I learned this hard way and had to redo the tail fins. Anyway I think I am going to take a break from custom valks for a while. I have a bunch of my own non-Macross items I want to work on. I will however have a VF-1J and GBP set that I want to do and will probably offer for sale in the near future, stay tuned if you are interested. Thanks for everything!

  11. Hey guys, thanks for the compliments. As for the battle damage they are not really meant to be "through" holes. They are holes that just breach the outer armor to reveal details inside. Since I like to put inside details I am limited on where I can put them to not hamper the transformation.

  12. Devin, sorry to see you go but I certainly understand. Having applied several hundred of your decals on all of the customs I have done I can verify there high quality. In fact they have seemed to get better over the years. It will however put a crimp on me cranking out customs. Every custom I have done has had your decals. I am not sure I would want to do one with stickers, I don't think it would look right. However this may not be a bad thing. It will allow me to get out of the custom rut I have been in and dabble in other things. Thanks again for your support of our hobby.
